Village Bistro is a favorite place of mine to meet friends for lunch. The food is consistently good and there's enough variety to please most anyone. I also appreciate that the staff never rushes you. That said, we started off with a great server and then were turned over to another one, who we had to flag down a couple of times for coffee refills.
I'll definitely return and just hope to get a good server, as I have had on every other visit the past few years.
We had a very kind server, and my fiancé and I very much much enjoyed the atmosphere, even if we were seated by the bar.
She enjoyed the trout though I have to say the braised beef was a little smaller of a portion than I’d’ve liked for the price. Overall we left satisfied. Would recommend.
The service was wonderful! It had been awhile since we had dined at the restaurant due to not so great service in the past. Keep up the good service. The food and wine was great as well.
The food was excellent.
This was a lunch with my coworkers and boss. I specifically chose this location due to previously having excellent service and wine selection. Lunch service was not the same experience as dinner. Although the food was great. Late breakfast and lunch was a fun surprise. The wine was good! Everything could have been perfect if our waitress was as good as others that I have had. She could have been having an off day, or was just taking it easy for lunch. I’m not sure. Just a little disappointed and regretted my recommendation.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. This is a regular dining spot for social and business gatherings for my family and me.
We ordered the fish and chips and the chicken porcini pasta. The bread and the fish and chips were tasty, but the pasta came out as a wet and diluted mess with little flavor. We wanted to send this dish back but didn’t care to make a fuss.
Regarding the service, our waitress seemed a bit aloof but was quick to bring our dishes and our check. It did seem like we were being expedited and a bit rushed, as we had our check in hand after being at the restaurant for just 40 minutes.
Ambience was great as usual.
Food and service was great. We had a special holiday cocktail there years ago and the bartender wrote down the recipe for us. They didn’t have that cocktail on the menu this year but when we showed our waiter, Eric the recipe he took it to the bartender, Ian and they re-created it just for us. Now that is service!
Food was overshadowed by the lack of service. Server was friendly, however one meal appeared to have been forgotten and had to be asked for. When it was served, it was incorrect.

Food was amazing, from the appetizer baby beef Wellington’s and fries, to our drinks and meals. Every staff member was attentive and helpful bringing our food or clearing the table. Definitely a lovely night and will always be back to the Village in the future.
Pastry on mini Wellington was raw. Dips, curry bland. The short ribs were served with unrendered fat and in a bowl of oil; I'm still feeling ill the morning after. Oh, and the overpriced sidecar was way too sweet.
An annual holiday get together with my friend. We have gone to Village Bistro the last 4 years and have always had a really good experience. Food is always flavorful and service is always attentive. Had the prix fixe this time - had a wedge salad, ravioli and pear panna cotta all for $29! Great wine list too.
Really nice surprise! We enjoyed the Village Bistro’s Bar and Restaurant after wonderful holiday stroll through the area for Christmas lights and decorations. Great beer and wine selection plus craft cocktails. We all shared several flavorful dishes, including short ribs, lamb shank and shrimp pasta with awesome sides. We had a nice table, service, low noise environment and delightful holiday music. Great value. Definitely dine here again!
Poor service (waiter forgot to put out order in, came back 10 min later and said “I can’t read my own writing what did you order again?” Then charged us extra for things we didn’t order.
Delicious sole in a lemon caper sauce with mashed potatoes and sauted spinach. Too bad it was completely ruined by too much sauce. It actually looked like a bowl of soup when it arrived. The potatoes disintegrated. Glass of chardonnay tasted like it had come from an opened bottle that had been sitting open too long. At close to $60 for lunch, I won't be going back. Way better choices and value for your money at Santana Row.

Worst experience!! Their quality has gone down so much. They brought my daughter’s chicken tenders completely uncooked and pink on the inside. I was horrified. Thank god she didn’t bite into it and broke it by hand instead and realized it’s not cooked. Otherwise she would have got so so sick.
The waitress was not apologetic and handled it very poorly. Sadly, the rest of us were very displeased with our food too. Tasteless and just poorly cooked. Not returning here anytime soon.
When we arrived for our reservation, we were told we would seated outside in a covered area. This was unacceptable since it was raining earlier. Tables were setup in area that was in an area that did not accommodate tables, an that had heavy foot traffic. The service was extremely slow, we arrived at 7:30 pm and left about 10 pm. The food was average at best.
THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE EXCELLENT. THE VILLAGE CALIFORNIA BISTRO AND WINE BAR IS ALWAYS MY FIRST CHOICE AT SANTANA ROW.

We dined at Village on Sunday evening for my husband's birthday. We have so loved Village over the years, but we were very disappointed this time. While they have updated the menu a bit, the food just isn't as good as it once was. We ordered the lemon brussels sprouts as an appetizer, and only a few of them had the lemon flavor and toppings. The lamb shank, spaghetti and meatball, and pork chop were our main dishes. Our younger kids ordered the child's ravioli and a cheeseburger. Our meals were truly nothing special. Both the lamb and the pork seriously lacked salt, and both meats were overcooked. We asked for the autumn roasted veggies for a side dish, and the oil they were cooked in had a terribly burned flavor. They looked nice but smelled and tasted awful. They were inedible. We would have told our server, except she never came to check on us during our meal. When we finally told her at the end of our meal, she seemed to shrug it off, as if she already knew. For dessert, we split a creme brulée that was the smallest creme brulee I've ever seen. No one said a word about my husband's birthday, even though it was mentioned in our reservation. Neither did our server say or do anything about our burned side dish. Unfortunately, we won't be going back. There are too many other restaurants to try to waste our money on what is no longer a sure thing.

The food isn’t seasoned. The place is nice looking, but they don’t put any seasoning on the food.
The food was cold when it came out, everything, bacon, potatoes the French toast. The waitress didn’t even ask us how our food was, all she did was hand back my card after paying and walk away. We used to dine here often, we will no longer be coming here for our brunches.

This experience was super horrible. There were eggshells in my calamari, received a glass of water and the glass was completely dirty, it still had lipstick on it.
I’ve been here several times and loved it. But on our most recent visit, Nov. 1, 2019, the food had changed... a lot!!!
Our favorite, the Brussels sprouts, were a much smaller portion for the same price and lacked the wow factor they use to have. I ordered the wedge salad for my entree. In the past is was large... large enough for a whole meal. This time it was much smaller. Like a small side salad, but at an entree price. My sons had a chicken ceaser salad. His said was equally depressing, and the chicken came on a separate plate, not in the salad. The chicken was a plain dry, thin, skinless breast that you’d expect to see from an amateur cook... like first time cook. Ugh! My mother ordered the short rib. When she went to cut into it, the texture was so weird!!! Not like short rib that falls apart with your fork, but like a piece of rubber you need a steak knife to cut through and chew for days. It was very strange. The waitress agreed that it didn’t look right so she took it back. They brought my mom a new one and it was much better and my mom ended up enjoying it. Apparently the cooks are new... and they are making changes to the menu... I don’t know what’s happening there, but it sucks! And it explains why the place was so empty on a Friday night!
Dinner date with my wife. Good food. Lovely night. Very lively outside. Sorry I didn’t take pictures of the dishes. We had the sampler appetizer. Natalie has fish & chips and I had braised short rib. The food was delicious and plentiful. Thanks for a lovely evening.
The outdoor seating looked nice but was taken. We sat inside most of restaurant was on the emptier side. Immediately felt the ambiance was dated and menus covered in plastic is a bit tacky. Waitress greeted the table then didn’t come back for about 10minutes, had to have the hostess track down the server. The manager then came right over (appearance was a bit messy, didn’t feel reassured) apologized for wait and took drink and app order. Server then came back over to take entree order and refill water, spilled water on the table/my hand while I was holding the glass. Then manager came over with the bottle of wine we ordered and spilled a few drops of that on the table as well. Apps, entree and dessert were mediocre. Overall the website for this place looks nice and the menu seems really appealing I liked they had a few vegetarian options since most places only have one but overall a very disappointing experience. There’s lots of other restaurants around the area I definitely suggest somewhere else.
This was my 2nd visit and we sat outside. I had the pastrami sandwich at my last visit and it was excellent. On this visit, I had the fried chicken sandwich and noted on the menu to be spicy - which I was looking forward to. This sandwich was a little greasy, had too much honey on it and lacked spice and a small amount of chipotle mayo. I was not too fond of the chicken breading that lacked flavor, was not crunchy and tasted like the breading on frozen food. I was expecting the typical fried chicken vs. this breading that generally is used for veal cutlets.
Our waiter was polite and very attentive until he got busy. The person that delivered our food was having a bad day and lacked customer service. The ambience of sitting outside was great. I will return and try another dish based on my 1st visit.
I really wanted to like it, nice atmosphere and good service. But the food did not taste good. Had to remake one of the dishes since it was not made as requested, another egg dish with a Mexican twist was more like a liquid soup, not visibly presentable and did not taste good.
The staff was friendly, the food was good, but not stellar. I feel that the menu needs better options specific to the region of Napa. The prices were a bit steep for food that was average. I went on a Saturday night and I was surprised how empty it was. I’ve dined there before and it seems as the restaurant is becoming less and less popular.
Well, checking in for our reservation I was aptly greeted with “outdoor tables are first come first serve” and that we couldn’t be seated for our reservation. We were then offered an inside table which we reluctantly accepted.
Our waitress seemed like this was her first job. Between the unpleasant demeanor, lack of attention to detail, and every question being an inconvenience, it truly made our experience magical (sarcasm). The food came out with the eggs barely warm, getting that nice sat on the counter golden yellow that we all enjoy.
Overall, the experience was terrible.
