Village California Bistro and Wine Bar is a neighborhood indoor/outdoor restaurant that serves California-inspired cuisine and wine. The restaurant prides itself on using only the finest and freshest organic ingredients, sourced from local farms. It offers a seasonal menu that revolves around salads, pasta, seafood, poultry, lamb and beef dishes. The Village California Bistro and Wine Bar also boasts an award-winning wine list that includes hundreds of vintages sourced from wineries around the word.
The Village California Bistro and Wine Bar features an outdoor side patio that provides the ideal place for hosting a small party. It also offers catering services that can be adapted to everything from small cocktail parties to large parties. This restaurant is open for lunch, Monday to Friday and for dinner all through the week.
Village California once again comes through as a great place for a special celebration that won't break the bank. The service is always friendly and courteous, the food always well-prepared, flavorful and served hot. Seasonal dishes are great: loved the butternut squash gnocchi, with fresh fava beans and asparagus! My friend loved her divorced eggs (spicy!), and my other two dining companions enjoyed the chicken salad wrap and the Nicoise salad, which was topped with a sizable sardine. Dessert was good, too, with the marscapone cake with berries and vanilla ice cream a winner over the flourless chocolate cake, which was a bit denser than it needed to be. Overall, a lovely dining experience!
It’s a great restaurant on Santana row, with tasty food and people watching on the front patio.
A little taste of Europe here
Food was very good. Excellent selection. Good value for the money. Waitress was pleasant and attentive.
unfortunately service was lacking on that afternoon
I have dined here before but was disappointed with the quality of the food. My friend & I ordered the scallops which were the smallest scallops I've ever had. They came with a vegetable which was equally a small portion.
The server was friendly but clearly had not been in her position for very long.
Not worth the money spent. Food was not good.
I came here for the first time with my mom and sibling recently for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. We each ordered a different main course and ended up getting a seafood plate, the 2 way duck, and the fish and chips. The serving size is definitely on the smaller side, and my mom was not too enthused about the seafood plate. The 2 way duck was pretty good, though the slices were a bit dry. My sibling enjoyed the fish and chips.
The ambiance is good and we really enjoyed our table inside by the windows. We found the service a bit lacking - we were often kept waiting for the server to come back, though the restaurant didn't seem *too *busy (I could be mistaken) and it was Mother's Day. Probably will not coming back soon, for the price point of this restaurant.
Came here for Mother's Day with moms, the boyfriend, and 8 y/o sister. There was something for everyone. We had a fantastic waiter who recommended a cocktail to my normally wine-drinking mom- she was nervous about having the drink be too sugary, but our waiter suggested something PERFECT for her- which she loved! Brunch was delicious- the Banh Mi was surprisingly super good. Great wine list. Very much enjoyed coming here and will be back- for both dinner and for special occasions.
I’ve had lunch here several times. The lunch is typically good. Brunch today was not good. The cinnamon roll with the prix fixe meal is terrible. It tastes like prepackaged crap from Safeway. I got the eggs Benedict w/crab cakes up grade. The crab cakes were cold. The eggs were fine. The side of potatoes were just ok. My daughter had the French toast. They were burnt. Overall I felt today’s meal was overpriced for the quality. I won’t eat brunch here again, but I’d come back for lunch.
We were 6 people for brunch. Three of us had cold meals served.
Below average service. Steak was over cooked. Pancakes took over 20 minutes to make. Server wasn't very good. Manager did a good job taking care of us.
Food was fantastic. French toast and blte. But server was inattentive. To her credit, it was a VERRY busy Saturday.
We loved Village for many years, but this establishment has been in a steady decline for some time now. Service has fallen off, same with food quality. It's a shame. But still has a great wine list.
Very disappointed in our dinner. We have been there many times but this trip was a bummer. Really crappy server and service Friday evening.
Don’t like the added tip for living wage
Restaurant was beautiful, staff is friendly and the ambiance is relaxing. Great place to grab dinner with friends or for date night.
Had a great time and the server was really spot on!
My husband and I have dined here many times, so I thought it would be a perfect place to take a friend on Monday.
It was horrible experience. The service was non existent and waiters seemed like we were bothering them when we asked for table to be cleared or needing our glass of water refilled.
I was very disappointed and not sure we will go back again.
This restaurant looked amazing from the website but although it is "hip" and has nice outdoor seating, the food was "meh" with little presentation and the service was mediocre.
Great location but food quality suffers
Village California Bistro & Wine Bar is one of my favorite places to brunch. The food is consistently delicious regardless of how busy the restaurant is and their service is great.
Great for a friendly reunion and conversation. Will return, the brunch was great!
Immediate seating, excellent service, and delicious food.
Very good food with a relaxed atmosphere on the side patio.
Service was attentive.
First time here, very pleased. Bloody Mary check off order sheet-fantastic! Very pleasant, engaged waitstaff, great location and perfect outside table location for our brunch.
I eat at this restaurant -- go to in Santana Row - always good food and service! Appreciate the selection but wish they carried Lloyd's Chardonnay.
We had the best server ever!!!
We made reservations here for Easter brunch and were not disappointed. The ambience was nice and the food was very good.
Celebrating Easter Sunday
We went for breakfast, food was average, service was good
Limited kids menu. Disappointed that when we walked in they asked us to sit outside because they had reservations through 2pm. We were one of those reservations, and the inside NEVER filled up while we were there. Just was odd since it was chilly in the AM and we didn't request to sit outside on the reservation. They figured it out and we were able to sit inside.
Food was great, but they put us an outside table and seemed to forget about us. We had to flag down the waiter several times, and ask busboys to call our waiter over.
It delayed the meal.
Our hotel recommended we meet our friend for wine and tasty eats...highlight was the mushroom flat bread with Point Reyes bleu cheese! Wonderful customer service and a great scene for al fresco dining!!!
Always great food & great service
Center of Santana Row with outdoor seating including a heated patio. The food has ranged from mediocre to great in my experiences. The service is friendly, but not over the top. I prefer this place for brunch or lunch on a sunny day.
The service was awful. Sat for 15 mins after getting table, without any water or anyone checking on us. Server got 1 order wrong, then correct order took 20 minutes for a salad. The salad was missing items. I have been here many times before and will not return.
No celery for bloody mary's on a Sunday?
Other items where bland. Reuben was awful, burnt meat and flavorless.
We had to ask who our server was and if we could be helped. Had to ask for bill. Waitress would disappear and we did not see her with any other tables except the one next to us (there service was awful also, but at the get the orders correct.).
Have been on two occasions - weekend brunch and sat evening dinner with friends. Brunch I ordered poached eggs over hard and it took til the third try to get it right (one of the orders came back with a fried egg) and got my food almost 45 minutes after my partner finished his meal. The manager was gracious though and apologized and comped the food. Saturday we were there with friends - soup was good but risotto came plain without the parsley rosemary so waiter said it looked different but still served it to us. After our questioning, he went and got a side of the sauce so we mixed it in ourselves. Very weird that it could leave the kitchen without QA. Wait staff is trying but kitchen seems subpar.
We've eaten at the Village many tines, and always enjoy it. This particular night the sole, filet mignon and duck dishes were very good, but the seafood linguine was a miss. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed, so service was ok, but not great.
Nice dinner, great food and service. We were a party of 7
