Nice place and great service but breakfast was just so so (average), nothing special.
I had breakfast here on Saturday morning and there was a yoga class going on outside which prompted me to get a table inside because of how loud the class was. The atmosphere is very nice inside and the service is pretty good. The prices are a little high for breakfast and the food was so-so. I probably wouldn't come back here for breakfast and I'm not sure if I would return for any other meal as well.
Been there many times. Enjoy it every time. Will return
The brie is always a great starter and the paella was fantastic. Glad we shared each plate because the waiter forgot our second entree.
We went for brunch. It was just okay. The food was okay. Virtually every meal came out wrong in some way. One person ordered "very well done scrambled eggs" and they came out runny. Most sides were wrong. The server was certainly not very friendly (generally professional, but nothing more). There are lots of other good restaurants there that we will be choosing instead next time!
This place has gone downhill. Took forever to get a waiter, but the waiter himself was very good. We asked for the soup to be extra hot, it was luke warm. We asked for the prawns to be cooked well, both meals were over cooked. Great shame, this place used to be very reliable. Is the lease up?
Village Bistro never disappoints! The food was great!
The staff were very accommodating and professional. The brunch menu and food were good. The indoor seating was very noisy, but the outdoor seating was quiet, calm, and delightful. I had made our reservation for an indoor table, but when I realized how noisy it was, they were very kind to accommodate us for outdoor seating.
A great destination for lunch during the work week when Santana Row is not busy and crowded. A relaxed, upscale California feel. Fair market prices with competent quality food execution and service. Po'boy blackened salmon sandwich was freshly prepared and delicious and wine selections were good and competitively priced (by the glass, half, and full bottle). Great to have a half bottle option, especially for lunch
Seemed short staffed. Our server was good but just had too many other tables. There was a manager looking guy watching over but he did not assist any of the servers and did not give us any contact (nor did anyone other staff members) so we could ask for missing things on our table. It is always fun to sit outside and people watch and I would go back again hoping they step up the service.
The service is always great here. I ended up eating alone and was very comfortable doing so. The staff is very friendly and checked on my regularly.
Good food you can count on. Margaritas made with Corzo are the best!
It just gets worse every time I come here. Service is very spotty, food is bland, menu is lacking creativity, and portion to price is very skewed. This place was great many years back, but after my last 3 dining experiences here, I’m going to write it off for good.
This has been one of my favorite places for brunch, lunch or dinner. The quality of the food was not as good this time but I will go back. May be more consistent later in the day.
Made a reservation this time so got a table right away. Good food, especially burger and fries. Friendly, vibrant scene. Outside dining good for people watching on a nice evening.
Pulled pork was dry, and the waiter seemed preoccupied.
Great brunch. Perfect location for a stroll in Santana Row afterward. Great atmosphere and energy.
Ate here on a recent "for pleasure" trip to San Jose. Our service was friendly and attentive. The outdoor seating was shaded and pretty and great for people watching. Our meal was really fresh (salmon and summer vegetables)--good portion size and a nice wine list! Would go back in a heart beat and would highly recommend!!
Excellent eating experience.. from walking in the door and being greeted by employee, seated and drink order taken, was maybe 5 minutes. Meal was served hot and excellent taste. Server was very friendly and helpful. Love this place!
Great food... just right portions!
A wonderful restaurant on Santana Row.
Quality of food was extremely low. The mash potato was frozen. The rib was reheated ie. previously cooked. My wife's salmon had no taste. She states that it was worst than cafeteria food at the hospital!
We came here for the third time for brunch. First two times were with friends and the third time is just our immediate family. I thought our experiences would change but unfortunately it didn't. The service is ok for the type of restaurant Village is and we waited a while for our food. Overall the experience was decent. But I don't think we'll come back again as the service we received didn't change.
Great brunch location. Good food. Ok value for its location.
Sensational service, impeccably clean and rivals most 5 Star Restaurants. The one list mirrors that of my own wine cellar and extremely diverse. The food was prepared quickly and served immediately and the quality was superior.
I can not wait to come back down to Santana Row and I certainly will be making another reservation.
Great place to meet friends - small dishes are bigger than one would think - sit at the bar is a blast!
Extremely poor service. Never brought my lunch and made poor excuses, but didn't say sorry or apologized. They were not even busy on that weekday. Finally, I had to go somewhere else to eat. I have never had such a bad experience in dining out.
Business dinner. Seated outside on side patio and forgotten. Had to search out server for every request. Silverware removed after shared appetizers, then not replaced. Forgot one meal. A beggar towing her child wandered among tables asking for money - notified hostess but she did nothing. I used to like this place. Something is wrong.
i was disappointed on the service as it took reminding the waiter for the food and when it came out it was not as ordered. Lack of customer service care even though it was not busy.
The ceviche was perfect. Pan seared duck breast was crispy but not fat. Will return for sure!
Used to love this restaurant but the service was appalling on this busy Thursday night. The food all arrived at different times and we had to chase the side dishes. My halibut special was overcooked and the green beans under it were not even al dente, but almost raw. We brought guests here from out of town who are moving in to the area, and were quite embarrassed. There seem to be some new restaurants opening on Santana Row, so we won't be returning here for a while. Maybe when it's quieter, after the summer, they will get their act together again.
I have had many really good meals here and love eating outside on the patio when weather permits. Service is friendly and the ambiance inside and at Santana Row makes this s nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal with friends or colleagues. I will go back again soon!
Hostess was very friendly. Sever was attentive. Manager checked on our table. My favorite brunch spot!
Our waiter, Jesus, clearly enjoyed his job and his knowledge of the wine and food menus added to our evening. The chef put a spin on a classic Hawaiian dish by serving Loco Moco with Shortribs instead of a hamburger patty. The mushrooms, rice, gravy and peppers all came together for a fantastic combination of flavors. The bacon wrapped scallops were also incredibly tasty even though that dish was a bit pricey for what you got. All in all we had a good time and we're looking forward to going back.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Always a wonderful dining experience.
I would have prefer filtered water with ice and not have to remind my waiter to refill my glass in such a fine looking restaurant. I had a BLT with eggs. The meal wasn't very warm and the croissant was falling apart and not fresh. The bacon was half way not edible as one slice of bacon was pure fat. The tomatos on the sandwich were not fresh but look as though they were frozen and thawed out. On the positive side the french fries that came along with the sandwich were good. They could of offered a bottle of ketchup to go with it which would of been better instead of the little tiny chrome cups which didn't hold much ketcup. I don't recall anymore coming by either asking us how everything was. Sorry but don't think I will be returning.
Amazing food, better service, great crowd!!
The food was absolutely terrible. Ordered a BLT... got 1 slice of bacon, bread was soggy & falling apart. Avocado was brown. Fries looked like they accumulated from left over plates. Plate was dirty. Husband ordered turkey sandwich, had one slice of turkey. It was a horrible experience.
The service was not good at all.
I have dined at Village Bistro before and always received good food and attentive service. This visit, it was my BFs first time dining here, left a lot to be desired! Our server greeted us took our food and drink order. I should've known things would not go well as our server did not know dinner specials and stated he would know after 5 - our reservations were 5:15. He disappeared - literally we did not see him again for a good 20 minutes- no bread and no water until a different server came out. Once we were finished with our appetizer and soup it was another half hour wait for our entree, also delivered from a different server. No status during that interim from server. The restaurant was not packed, people who were seated outside after us received prompt service and food so I don't know what happened. We were hesitant to order dessert anticipating another lengthy wait. I understand timing between courses but this was a little ridiculous and overkill at the end of our meal was annoying as clearly it was an effort only to save his tip. I like Village Bistro and the food however this would not be my first "go to" place now after this experience.
