We have a very very nice time and the food was great. There was a table full of women nearest had been drinking them or rather loud for Sunday afternoon
Great food and wonderful service. Will definitely be back.
We went to the Village Anchor for the first time for our 5 year anniversary. We made a reservation online and when it asked if we were celebrating anything I made sure to include that. They had a table ready for us by the fireplace and a note on the table when we arrived saying happy anniversary. Our server, Alan was great! The manager also came out to tell us happy anniversary (and congratulations on our upcoming baby). They gave us a complimentary dessert at the end which we thought was really nice of them. The food was amazing! They had some of the best scallops I’ve ever had in my life. My husband isn’t even a big fan of scallops and said mine were to die for when he tried a bite. He had a NY strip which was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The staff, atmosphere, and food were great! We couldn’t believe we hadn’t been here before because it’s only a few miles from our house. We will definitely be returning! We sat inside for this visit but they have a great outdoor seating area we want to try out as the weather warms up!
Food was pretty good I’ve had better salmon elsewhere. The Special was pretty high-priced $38 for fish. So we didn’t order that. No happy hour even though we got there early enough for happy hour. Disappointing. Service was OK. Waiter not very attentive or friendly.
Birthday celebration
Great service and very accommodating! Food was excellent.
First time patrons, but definately not our last. Loved everything about The Village Anchor...food delicious, handcrafted drinks fantastic and our server, Angela was great!!
It was fine
I love their Sunday brunch. Some different dishes that no one else offers. The steak and biscuits were delicious, the grits creamy and well seasoned.
Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. Excellent service. Perfect Old Fashioned cocktails.
We were initially seated on the tented lanai beside a busy exterior service door, which was cold and annoying. There were plenty of other tables open, so we moved.
Although we had a reservation, we were taken to outdoor seating during thunderstorm (well protected from the weather, but extremely loud), even when all tables inside were empty. We had to ask to be moved inside and was originally told there were no available tables. Apparently when reserving, you must request inside if weather is questionable. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me....last time it was mid-summer and steamy! (Again all inside tables were open when I was seated)
Food (French toast & red velvet pancakes) was amazing.....service was a bit slow.
Outstanding evening as usual... our server was working the bar also ... so she could not be as focused/attentive as She would have liked... but she was Great -- efficient and helpful whenever asked. Food delivered promptly and superb ... as usual.. Great atmosphere by the fireplace inside for our party of 11. Dr Pepper Short Ribs, Filets, Shrimp & Grits, and a scrumptious sides... TOP NOTCH RESTAURANT!
Wonder place! I’ve been twice, once for brunch and once for lunch. Great food, wonderful service, I highly recommend!
We we having dinner with my husband’s old college buddy who was in town on business. Chose village Anchor based on reviews. We were disappointed.
Our reserved seating was on a porch enclosed in plastic. It had a fireplace but it was drafty. I was cold the whole time. Also, the noise level was high enough it made it difficult to have a conversation across the table.
We had a couple of beers with dinner but chose to leave and finish our conversation at the lobby bar of his hotel. That’s a little sad really.
Brussels sprout salad was good though.
Prompt service and excellent food but next time we will request a table inside. We nearly froze to death in the mezzanine! Blankets were stuffed in the holes of the plastic cover but it still was very uncomfortable.
Great venue!!
Just out with friends
Food was very good but the dinner was not enjoyable as a table made it impossible to hear anyone on the lanai.
Phenomenal. Every part of this place is incredible. Food, drinks, location, decor, music, service... Just freaking go here and savor the glory.
My family and I had our Easter dinner there and it was wonderful! We will have many more dinners there in the future!
My husband and I made reservations for Easter brunch soon as we arrived we were asked to go down the steps and they will show us where to go so the other attendant told us we are not on that level either we had to go down another set of stairs and basically their overflow area. The manager was extremely nice and how to smile on his face the whole time our waitress was nice but perhaps a little backed up because she forgot a couple of items I asked her to bring but She was very professional. The bacon however was awfully chilly I like my bacon crunchy and I feel as though it was imitation bacon. So that was disappointing yes I would go there again but would request the first level
Easter celebration
Four of us ate at the Village Anchor for Easter brunch. The service and food were very good. They had several special alcoholic drinks that were original and tasty. My husband and I had the filet mingon on a bleu cheese biscuit that was delicious. Every available space, upstairs and down, was used for seating so it seemed somewhat crowded.
Easter brunch. Super good. Loved it!!!!
It was rushed. No substitutes. Meat ordered medium
Made reservation the night before. Hostess found reservation right away when we checked in. She took us to another building in the basement (which was odd and not very quaint, and it was not mentioned when we made the reservation) to a different host. He could not find our reservation at all. So, he left us standing in the doorway while he went to ask the original hostess about it. Was a bit embarrassing when she had already found the reservation and checked us in, as we were just standing there in a fairly small eating room. They also had a limited menu, although their Facebook page very clearly said they would be using the same, regular brunch menu as normal, so this was disappointing. Food ended up being good, but it was not what I had planned to order (just a matter of having an unmet expectation), and the server was very nice.
Lovely setting indoors! Food was wow and made us look great for taking our guests there!
My husband and I ate at the Village anchor for my birthday. I had to prime pork chop and my husband had the shrimp and grits. My pork chop was juicy and tender and the candied sweet potatoes that came with it were yummy. My husband enjoyed his shrimp and grits. The food was very good. It was a chilly night and we were on the porch area that had plastic over the windows. I was little chilly but my husband was cold enough to leave his coat on throughout the meal. We would have enjoyed our meal more if we had been seated inside.
Great food and service!! It’s our go to place for a night out
Great lunch with old friend. Love this place!
Fundraiser
Overall, the food was quite good. The only drawbacks were that it was significantly noisy with music - however, it was turned down after about 10 minutes, so we appreciated that. We were seated near a closet door that the staff needed to get into, we had to shuffle around quite a bit to make that happen (and we aren't big people)... :)
We will go back.
Our server was awesome! The food was delicious! Always love going to The Village Anchor!
Food was amazing. Love the atmosphere and the service was great.
Outstanding small restaurant in the Anchorage suburb. Favorite of locals, it seems. Rustic, fireplace, small bar. Service was excellent from Alan who had recommendations. I ordered the blackened fish tacos appetizer for dinner and it was plenty. My friend loved the brussels sprouts salad. I'd recommend to anyone.
We arrived before our reservation time, and they quickly accommodated us. Emily was our server, and you can tell she has done this a long time. She was involved but not overbearing and very informative of the menu. I went with the surf and turf special which was amazing! The steak was cooked perfectly (rare but warm throughout) and the scallops were surprisingly fresh! Everyone else I was with loved their food as well. We all left very happy and very full. Can’t wait to visit again!
Went to the Sea Hag after running a 5K. Mimosas and brunch were a great way to celebrate!
Fabulous again! A tad bit warm on the patio, but to be expected on a nice day in spring. Great food & service!
As usual, the food and service were fantastic!
Great experience! The food was excellent and the service was wonderful too!
