The Village Anchor Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was also great.
All 6 of ya enjoyed our meals immensely.
We love the restaurant and the atmosphere.
We are happy that a portion of our meal will go toward cancer research. That was a plus
We were a group of ladies celebrating a birthday. Our server, John, made wonderful food recommendations and gave our birthday girl very special treatment! All of our varied choices were delicious! We sat close to a roaring fire and it was quiet enough to hear our conversations. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to other friends!
Sadly, the food was not of the usual high caliber. The sweet potato fries arrived lukewarm. My colleagues shrimp and grits was good but not it's usual very good/special. My salmon was fine but again, not hot. Fabulous atmosphere and service. It was a special business occasion and the food just didn't measure up this time. Very disappointing.
After a time change and an addition of 5 people to our reservation and arriving late due to road /bridge closures....we had an amazing first visit to Village Anchor. Emily was a very cordial and welcoming server. She quickly welcomed the late arrivers to our table. recommended a few beverage and meal options. Her suggestions were spot on......
We will return..it wss fabulous...I cleaned myplate!
Another great dining experience at Village Anchor. They hire the best people that give great service! The covered lanai was very crowded so we chose to eat outside since it was warm November afternoon, nice they still had outdoor seating as an option. Salmon my favorite but sometimes sneak in a BLT&A which is best ever had anywhere!
We were there for a celebrity host fundraising event and attended from open to close. We were helped by the bartender John whom was absolutely fabulous. He was in tune with all of our needs and made sure we were always taken care of. He made our whole experience such a pleasure. The music was great, from older genres and set the tone of the place to a very relaxing, some could say romantic, place. The food was superb and tasted like a slice of heaven. We had the fried chicken and we also had the pretzel with beer cheese. The presentation of the food was wonderful and made it very inviting to take a bite. Also, the drink list of handcrafted cocktails, wines, and beer was excellent as well. I have already referred friends and family to give this restaurant their business and we can't wait to come back!
I was in town for business and we originally wanted to go to Jeff Ruby's. We tried to make last min reservations there but they were full and they recommended Le Moo. Le Moo was full as well so they recommended this restaurant since it was a sister restaurant. The ambiance was very unique. Photo framed pictures on the ceiling, dark wood, red accents. Seating was a little cozy inside though, they pack you in pretty tight. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were pretty good. The french onion soup was also pretty tasty. A different taste with rosemary but very good. The bread was nice and fresh as well. I ordered the special surf and turf, filet with 2 scallops, yukon gold mashed potatoes and haricot vert. It had a demi glaze sauce all over it, which I am not a big sauce fan. It was ok, but a little too much, would rather had on the side. The scallops were very good as were the mashed potatoes. The steak was pretty good. Not too much seasoning to it other than the sauce. We also tried the banana pudding since it was prominently featured on the menu. Not a big fan though. Some of the others liked it though. Overall I would eat there again.
Village Anchor Brunch is our favorite spot! I recommend trying multiple things off the menu (french toast, biscuits and gravy, california benedict, red velvet pancakes), and finding out what the grits of the day are (white cheddar are to die for). Whether you live here or just visiting, you MUST try the village anchor.
