Fabulous again! A tad bit warm on the patio, but to be expected on a nice day in spring. Great food & service!
As usual, the food and service were fantastic!
Great experience! The food was excellent and the service was wonderful too!
This is just an outstanding restaurant. I really can’t say enough good about it.
Amazing, delicious, cozy, friendly, makes me want to keep coming to enjoy a great meal over an over!!! Allen was great, informative and just awesome. Grant, the manager very attrnding and welcoming. Pay it forward, always...what a wonderful evening.
Took two ladies there, who has never been. They were very impressed with service and the menu and the quality of food.
Our server was attentive. Half off wine bottles was a nice deal to snag. Our seating arrangement was a bit cramped. Food was delicious!
The food and the atmosphere was awesome as usual. The night we were there, it was half off the price of bottles of wine. So there were a few groups taking advantage of this and it got quite noisy as the night went on.
Fabulous evening with colleagues but a bit cool in outside seating
Favorite restaurant! Our go to when in Louisville for work.
I made a mistake in the number of people for our party when I made reservations, and the entire staff was more than accommodating. We had such a wonderful evening and were so impressed with the service from start to finish. Thank you, thank you!
Don't waste your money. The food is overpriced for what you get. We were seated in the front area, told it was enclosed for the weather, there are big gaps and very cold wind was blowing on us, ridiculous! food was ok but EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for 1 piece of fish and french fries.
Too many really nice restaurants in Louisville with good food that is reasonable, would not recommend it!
Great meal as always...I look forward to the spring when dinning is not so closed off!
We were there for a special occasion and they were told a head of time. I expected to be seated in the main dining room but we were seated on what I would call a closed up deck with heaters. It was very noisy out there. It became especially noisy when a table of 10 or 12 that was seated who obviously had been drinking and they had no courtesy for the other diners. We then asked to be moved and explained why. On top of the noise our table was right by a heater and it was very warm. At this point we had excellent service but once we moved to the main dining room it changed. As we were being moved to the main dining room I saw our order being brought out to our table. It was about 5 minutes before our order was brought to our new table. We did not see our waiter much after this. When our banana pudding meringue was served we asked for more water and never received it. The chili, salad, and steak were awesome! The fried chicken best was dry but the leg was fine. The Brussel sprouts were a little burnt. We looked forward to the banana pudding meringue but we were very disappointed. The meringue was so dry it tasted like dust once you were able to break it since it was very hard. Finally, we reached the banana part and it was dry also. I know from experience what meringue is supposed to be like since I grew up with family members that made awesome meringue and this was the worst meringue I had ever tasted. This was our first time at the Village Anchor and we did tell the waiter that. Everybody was very friendly till we asked to be moved. The other thing that surprised me was the manager never came to our table. To be honest I am not sure if I would go back or not. The steak was very good but everything else was not what we expected.
nice brunch, but drinks a bit high for the basic Bloody I had
Went for a birthday. Food was excellent. We were seated in an enclosed outdoor area. During a deluge, the gutters above our heads overflowed. We were able to move our table a short distance to get out of range, so it was only a minor hassle. Nevertheless, our server (who was excellent in all ways) offered to move us to another table, which we said was unnecessary. She said something to the manager, who came over, apologized for any inconvenience, and comped us a bottle of wine and our appetizer. Despite the fact that the place was packed and the staff was dealing with flooding, our food arrived in a timely way and was appropriately hot or cold. Everything was very tasty (the Brussels sprout salad and hot brown were especially good) and prices are reasonable. We will definitely be back.
Waitress was amazing! Super nice, funny, and was really helpful. Wonderful Friday night date!
Service was great and the food was excellent.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, we had spotty service, but it still was a wonderful experience
Appetizers, such as sweet potatoes fries, chili, and beverages were delicious.
I have dined here several time previously for dinner but this time I went for the Sunday brunch that i had heard so many good things about. True to the reviews and my expectations the food and service were very good. The Bloody Mary's are as good as it gets and i should know, My date enjoyed sampling the various mimosas concoctions and we even ran into several friends who were also out enjoying the great weather. My omelet with goat cheese, spinach, country ham and mushrooms was excellent and Linda chose the breakfast burrito less the tortilla. She left a very clean plate so i assume it was delicious. Slight draw back for me is while the crowd is "lively" , the place always seems excessively noisy both up stairs and in the Sea Hag coated on the lower level. Highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.
Overall great brunch experience!
the Village is one of our favorites. we probably go there 2-3 times a month. the staff is over the top friendly and they go out of their way to make sure we are well taken care of.
Always Great food and Great service!!!
The food and atmosphere was good. I was a little disappointed with the lack of fish my date received for $17. The ton of fries made the entree look big. The fish was small and only one piece.
Overall, I really like the Village Anchor. The location, appearance and inside atmosphere are awesome. I will say the inside dining can be a bit tight. There does not seem to be a lot of room, but I love the fireplace. I have reserved a location right in front of it for Valentine's Day. It is a bit noisy which I guess bothers someone like me getting older in my 40s. I highly recommend it for a date, but you are going to drop some money here. For a dinner for two, I would plan on at least $75 to $100, but that includes the tip. I will say again, I really love the place.
Wonderful food. Amazing salmon and strong drinks!
We went on Valentine's Day and got there half an hour early expecting to wait at the bar. We were promptly seated and had an amazing experience. The service and food were both top notch. I highly recommend the Shrimp and Grits.
Wonderful place, Great people!!! Intimate environment, but also a great social environment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Village anchor is a true gem. The food was superb and the ambience was perfect.
We enjoyed everything about this restaurant! Looking forward to outdoor dining in the spring!
A great place for our Valentines Day lunch! Half price bottle of wine so we got to take some home.
Enjoyed our waiter Allan...he was attentive and made us laugh. The food was exellent and the Blackberry Old Fashioned was outstanding. Only the the location of our table was a little dissapppointing. I was hoping to be in the building, but we were placed in the annex which turned out to be a little noise. Otherwise a perfect lunch with my wife.
Only problem is the fire blower. It gets so hot out there.
Wonderful first experience! The only drawback was the restaurant is small with tables close together. When we arrived we were seated promptly but the noise level was so high I could barely hear my husband or our server. Felt like we were shouting the entire time! Not a quiet, romantic setting. The drinks and food were excellent, service was paced just right. Lots of good menu choices for all tastes and budgets!
Good and server were awesome!!!!!
This was a really nice restaurant. The price was a bit steep for some of the food, though. The fried chicken was worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone. If you're looking for a nice place to take someone on a special date I think this fits great, very classy and different from a typical chain restaurant.
This is my husband and my new favorite restaurant. We just happened upon it one month ago and we have dined there three times now. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is festive, and the service is great.
My kind of romantic atmosphere, wonderful service, great waiter. Now one of my favorite dining venues.
