The Village Anchor Ratings and Reviews
I have dined here several time previously for dinner but this time I went for the Sunday brunch that i had heard so many good things about. True to the reviews and my expectations the food and service were very good. The Bloody Mary's are as good as it gets and i should know, My date enjoyed sampling the various mimosas concoctions and we even ran into several friends who were also out enjoying the great weather. My omelet with goat cheese, spinach, country ham and mushrooms was excellent and Linda chose the breakfast burrito less the tortilla. She left a very clean plate so i assume it was delicious. Slight draw back for me is while the crowd is "lively" , the place always seems excessively noisy both up stairs and in the Sea Hag coated on the lower level. Highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.
Overall, I really like the Village Anchor. The location, appearance and inside atmosphere are awesome. I will say the inside dining can be a bit tight. There does not seem to be a lot of room, but I love the fireplace. I have reserved a location right in front of it for Valentine's Day. It is a bit noisy which I guess bothers someone like me getting older in my 40s. I highly recommend it for a date, but you are going to drop some money here. For a dinner for two, I would plan on at least $75 to $100, but that includes the tip. I will say again, I really love the place.
Enjoyed our waiter Allan...he was attentive and made us laugh. The food was exellent and the Blackberry Old Fashioned was outstanding. Only the the location of our table was a little dissapppointing. I was hoping to be in the building, but we were placed in the annex which turned out to be a little noise. Otherwise a perfect lunch with my wife.
Wonderful first experience! The only drawback was the restaurant is small with tables close together. When we arrived we were seated promptly but the noise level was so high I could barely hear my husband or our server. Felt like we were shouting the entire time! Not a quiet, romantic setting. The drinks and food were excellent, service was paced just right. Lots of good menu choices for all tastes and budgets!
This was a really nice restaurant. The price was a bit steep for some of the food, though. The fried chicken was worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone. If you're looking for a nice place to take someone on a special date I think this fits great, very classy and different from a typical chain restaurant.
Reserved a table several days in advance for a much awaited date night. Got there to find we were placed downstairs with a large birthday party who took up the rest of the room. Got to listen to all the toasts. Unfortunately, a little hard to enjoy what was supposed
To be a romantic evening away from the kids given the party. Seems like they could have put a table for two pretty much anywhere else.
Jason was a fantastic server and he more than made up for the cold draft coming from the enclosed back room. The heat lamp was too far away, so we kept our coats on. My steak was cooked well done instead of medium well, but the other three in my party had no issues. Jason suggested an amazing dessert, a deep fried Derby Pie, which was delicious
Overall it was a good experience at The Village Anchor.
There was an event that had ended a third of or way into our reservation and it had gotten extra loud but our server was on top of it and made sure we weren’t over whelmed by what was going on. The food was good but not outstanding somethings were under seasoned and over cooked.
My wife and I are looking forward to coming here again
Delicious food but we were seated on a very chilly patio, fortunately it was only a marginally cold evening. We were seated six inches or less away from a very loud group of 6. When we asked if we could move to a table slightly farther away, we were told by the hostess that the other table was for someone with a reservation, even though we had a reservation as well. Between two large parties and chairs that dragged across the concrete floor, it was almost impossible to hear each other. Service was mediocre at best. However, food was awesome!
