Great food, drinks, and service!
as always the food & service was great. i love the outdoor seating, but having more than fans in the covered areas would make it much more comfortable. we were sweating but we could handle it. however, we saw multiple people leave bc they couldn't sit inside.
It was our first time eating there and it was outstanding. The only problem was the amount of indoor seating (only 3 tables) It was 90 degrees and luckily we got a table out of the sun and it was mostly bearable. The service and food were awesome and it was very reasonably priced. I will go back again!!!
When we arrived for dinner we walked through a spacious outdoor courtyard with multiple empty tables. When we checked in we were told our reservations was for downstairs. We exited the building and found outside stairs and walked down stairs. After waiting 15 minutes to be acknowledged, the hosted seated us. The downstairs courtyard/patio was also spacious with a lot of empty tables. We were escorted to the bar room which was dark and had no ambiance. We were placed in the corner with no other patrons in the bar room. We were right next to the ice machine for the entire restaurant. The loud noise and humming was hard to hold a conversation. Our order was simple. Fried chicken and shrimp & grits. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were cold. We thought the restaurant was downtown. It was not. Twenty five minutes and a $30 Uber ride (each way) was not ideal. There are so many better restaurants downtown. Avoid this one if you are not a local. It appears they cater to and like locals much better. Not impressed.
The wedge salad was a delicious starter, followed by the yummy rich porkchop and mashed potatoes. I highly recommend the carrot cake to finish!
Won ton appetizer took 28 minutes to be delivered to our table. 3 minutes later, our meal was served at the table. And to start the dining experience, the young lady seating us - overtly rolled her eyes when we asked to sit outside instead of inside. The tables were less than 10 feet apart. It’s too bad as we would have liked to have had a better experience on a Saturday night.
John the waiter made it awesome. We sat for a while when we arrived and John was the only one who came to assist us initially
Great experience - always good food. Love the patio downstairs.
Started with a drink at the bar. Specialty dirty martini was delicious. Apps were crisp and tasty, fried green tomatoes and green chili wontons. Ate every bite of my Ahi Tuna salad, hubby enjoyed his fried chicken meal. Atmosphere is perfect for dinner with friends.
I ordered the pick 3 which included 1 taco, a salad and side. The taco was tiny and only had about 1 tables spoon of meat. The lettuce was very old and bitter. The side of okra was over cooked. While the restaurant wasn't busy, the service was lacking. Overall, my biggest problem with the restaurant is that they charged $2 for a Covid fee. I have dined out and supported restaurants throughout the pandemic and this is the first time I have seen a fee for making sure the table was clean. I will not be going back.
Service was great as was the food!
Shannon always makes our week and more!!!
i REQUESTED A QUIET TABLE, POSSIBLE AND MY FRIEND AND i WERE VERY PLEASED TO HAVE JUST THAT. dESPITE THE MONSOON OUTSIDE, OUR SURROUNDINGS WERE VERY ATTRACTIVE AND WE WERE DRY.
As usual everything was superb. Noise level was horrible, but it was the bar tenders last night & tons of people there celebrating him & giving him great send off!
It’s usually so hard to get in, we were surprised to get a reservation. But, we thoroughly enjoyed everything. Service, food, ambiance...2 of us had the fish tacos & one had the pork chop, the other the fish & chips. Delicious!!
Menu was very good .... lots to choose from. Service was excellent!
What a great brunch day!!! Thank you to Rachel for the amazing service!!!
If you are downstairs it looks dirty and with the tent is extremely hit. Make sure that when making reservations you are seated upstairs.
Very good overall. Order slightly mixed up on one or party but all enjoyed.
Brunch is so fantastic; the menu sections are diverse enough that anyone can enjoy something but focused enough that what you order is done well.
Best pork chop in town !
First time eating in the basement… not a fan, but everything else was fantastic as usual!! Been a customer for years absolutely love this place!!
Always a great evening!!! Thank you John for amazing martinis!!!
We were told about The Village Anchor by a friend and now always eat there when passing through town. Always a great meal.
Great food and atmosphere. We love this place and will be back again soon!
Never had a bad meal or poor service here. A great place to take anyone!
Had a late dinner after a long weekend. Our server was prompt and friendly. She gave us time to look over the menu and asked if we had questions. The ambiance was definitely relaxing and lended itself to quiet conversation. We ordered the wontons to compare to another local restaurant we love and they did not disappoint. She had the Scallops and I had the Filet and Shrimp for mine. Everything was cooked perfectly. The risotto with the scallops was perfect and the scallops were some of the softest we have ever tasted. The filet was cooked a perfect medium rare as if it was sous vide. If I order it again, I’ll probably order the filet without the demi glaze. She had the old fashioned off their cocktail menu and enjoyed every sip of it. We both will be back and looking forward to tasting the rest of the menu.
The food was great! Fried Green Tomato Appetizer and Chili were both superb! Enjoyed the Meatloaf Burger as well!
The mimosa were huge and good for their value but I ordered the full Caesar $14 (no meat) and added grilled salmon which made it a $27 salad. A little overpriced for sure!
We had a beautiful table for brunch outside. Service was amazing. Food was delicious.
Really enjoyed sitting outside on the patio in front of the restaurant. Food was delicious and service was prompt. My ahi tuna salad was delicious, but next time will get the dressing on the side. Friend’s BLT came with a generous portion of sweet potato fries. Other friend’s Cesar salad was good, but she was surprised by the actual sardine filets in her salad, which she picked around. Fun fact I learned: Brunch mimosa specials are only good when you eat in the Sea Hag on the lower level. Bathrooms are tidy and reservations are always a good idea.
The Village Anchor was amazing. The patio is perfect, the food and drinks are delicious and the service was great. Special, amazing food that is reasonably priced given how delicious it is and the amazing atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
I made a reservation but didn’t know that I had to specify sitting inside. We were not prepared to sit outside and did not want to. They would not move us.
A huge Thank You to Shannon!!!
Love Love Love!!!
Excellent service tipped the waitress tons to show it
Delicious and charming as usual!
Thanking the team at Village Anchor for another wonderful meal. They were very busy but the food and the service was superb. The Wontons are scrumptous.
Food was excellent and the ambiance was great. It's a nice gem in the middle of the suburbs.
Mother daughter get together. We had a ball as usual. You just can’t beat the atmosphere and the customer service.
