We were having a late Valentine dinner, the place was beautiful, glistening in the snow and white string lights. Our server was warm, welcoming, helpful but not overbearing. Our entrees were perfect and our bellies were full. We will be back!
Went there to celebrate two of my girlfriends birthday. Started with the won tons and a bottle of wine. Next to entrees: Eggs Benedict for one (she loved them), beef on blue cheese biscuits (ditto) and I the ahi tuna salad. Very Fresh.
Finished with white Russians and shared a crème brulee!
Service was exceptional!!
Laura was awesome !!!
Thank you village for making our weekly dinner date perfect!!!
My husband and I had brunch here on Valentine’s Day and we were very pleased with our choice! The service was exceptional, the food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect. The fire place roared as we drank our mimosas and had our delicious entrees. The dessert we had was the talk of our day- it was fantastic. Fried Derby pie??? Who knew??!! Absolutely wonderful. We will be back!
Food was great! First time there for brunch. Service wasn’t the best. Overall, still a good experience.
We were there celebrating Valentine’s Day. They seated us exactly according to the requests I made on my reservation, corner by the window near the fireplace. The service was spot on, Shannon our server was also the bartender and she was very attentive. My husband had a draft beer and I ordered the Cucumber Lemon Drop Martini (amazing). The food couldn’t have been more perfect. We started out with the Fried Goat Cheese Gateaux for the appetizer. For main dishes my hubby and the Pork Chop and I had the Scallops.
I made a reservation 2 weeks before for Valentines dinner. We were sat on the back patio with one heater for the area and the 26• wind was whipping through the plastic walls. I will not be back. Definitely not a restaurant to visit while Covid restrictions are in place.
I don't know why you would seat a table of two surrounded by 4 large extremely loud groups on Valentine's weekend! Not to mention the plastic barriers just funnel the obnoxious laughter of one group right to our table. The food and service were great, but the atmosphere was terrible! I am not one to usually complain, because I know that things happen outside of servers and hostess' control, but this was ridiculous! I would in the future take a little more time to think about where you are seating couples.
I’ll start by saying the food was very filling and the service was really good. I can’t say enough nice things about the young lady who waited on us at our table. The ambience was nice but the heating in our area could have been a little better. I realize they had it covered in plastic as it may have normally been an outside area, but it was pretty cold at our table. There was a space heater nearby but should have been closer to our table. It was sitting next to the huge fireplace. There should have been a couple more closer to the other tables as cold as it was today. It’s a rustic looking place I understand, but it needs to be cleaned up a bit with some paint in my opinion. The floors and table chairs could use an update too. All that said, the food was great and the service was too. I had the elk chili as an appetizer and wow! It was really great with just a hint of spiciness. The pita type chips they serve with it are awesome. It wasn’t a large chili, but I was so filled up by it, I had to take half of my entree (corned beef hash) home with me. My wife had the tuna salad which she really enjoyed. I think she wanted to take a photo, because she thought it looked so nice. I hate feeling like I’m being too critical of this place, because I would still go back and recommend others go as well. I am just trying to give my honest assessment of the experience. My wife and I actually really love the Village Anchor, and we look forward to going back!
Great food. But cold inside
The Village Anchor is one of my favorite places to eat! It is where I go for special celebrations. I enjoy the food, atmosphere, and the service is always great! But I was HIGHLY disappointed for Valentine's Day weekend to be sat down in the Sea Hag. APPARENTLY there was a setting change, as the hostess pointed it out to the reservation in front of me. We were both disappointed as to where we were sat.
Disappointed, Service not good, and on top of that they charge you a $2.00 per entrée COVID fee
Thank you Adam for the awesome martinis!!!
Always a great meal and more!!!
Excellent brunch!
Great brunch recommend the biscuits and gravy
Meatloaf burger is phenomenal. Our server Nick in the Sea Hag was the best!
Great dinner and VA is one of my faves.
Always incredible food whether you dine at lunch or dinner. We were seated next to the fireplace and it felt so cozy!
Salmon was excellent
Brunch was awesome
The food was great. The reservation said high top table so we thought down stairs. We were seated covered outside right next to the busing station. The extra charge of $2 per person for covid safety seemed inappropriate.
Overall good experience. Service was a little lacking this time which isn't normal for them.
Every thing was excellent!!!!!!
Our table was not ready at noon. We were directed to wait and get a drink at the downstairs bar. The bartender at the downstairs bar was very rude and unhelpful. He acted as if we were bothering him for a simple beer. Because of the poor service I left only a small tip, and then the bartender started talking about me and my bad tip to the other workers in front of me. Thus untasteful behavior further proves why he actually deserved no tip. One of the beers we were served was flat. After 20 minutes I went back upstairs to check on my table. The hostess told me we needed to wait at least another 10 minutes and walked away. We were finally seated, and our server was very helpful and lovely. She even exchanged the tasteless beer from the downstairs bar with a fresh one that actually had bubbles. The food was lacking. The Brussels sprouts were greasy, the chili was too spicy for my taste, and my husbands salad was swimming in salad dressing. I will complement the sweet potato fries, which were very good. Overall, we won’t be back. The service was rude and the food was only ok.
Great place and food. We will definitely be back!
Friendly and helpful staff. Great environment particularly considering the circumstances.
Shannon is the best!!! We love seeing her each week, she makes the most amazing martinis and is just the best!!!
Great service! Yummy brussel sprout salad!
Great food, excellent wines, good service. Our only concern was the lack of social distancing, I could reach out and touch the folks at the next table.
Specifics: great salads, they are among the best we have ever had. French onion soup was outstanding, bread was excellent and the pork shank was a different but special treat. We were disappointed that they were out of creme brulee and the carrot cake was good but not great. We don't drink enough to buy a whole bottle of wine but we appreciate that their wines by the glass are very solid. Service was excellent, unobtrusive but available. Noise level was a bit high but part of that was due to high air flow in the HVAC system and heaters going.
Dinner was very good. We each got something different and enjoyed all of it. We made a reservation but had to sit in the Sea Hag. It was a cold evening so we couldn't take our coats off.
Great bunch!
A loud group of girls in the tented area
Could hardly hear myself talk but I’m sure the mimosas was at work and I’ve been there
Haha!
Always enjoy the anchor
Great food! Our waiter was exceptional! We had salmon, shrimp and grits and fried chicken as entree’s for our party of three. All were excellent. The appetizers were phenomenal also! The goat cheese gateau and fried bologna sandwich were so good! Banana pudding for dessert was also outstanding!
This was my friends first visit and she definitely wants to put it in our lunch rotation. John provided very good service.
service, food and value were all excellent
Emily was very nice and accommodating - very welcoming with greeting at the door
will definitely return
It was most enjoyable. Great food, shared with special friends in a warm cozy setting and quiet enough that we could talk to each other easily. Will definitely be going back. We had the fish tacos, fish and chips and salmon and of course, sweet potato fries. Always get them!!
Really enjoyed our visit. Not the first and won’t be last!
great experience to dine in one of their igloos.
Food was average. Price was unreasonable. $160, with tip, for four people, two drinks, water for everyone else, one appetizer and one person just got a salad with chicken.
Went here for my sister-in-law's birthday brunch. I ordered the hotter brown and French toast (kid's size). Both yum and delicious! Their coffee is on the light roast side, which is fine. But I personally love dark coffee. My SIL got eggs benedict and she said it was delicious. We will definitely be back here for brunch and I will order the same thing!
