Expect the unexpected | A village-focused European “roost” where a lively Parisian Bistro greets the more traditional English Pub. Feels like home, yet with an art gallery on the ceiling. A must-do in LOU.
“This unique and ornate eatery marries southern comfort flavors to decor quirks nodding to a lively historic ship experience.” - via OpenTable editorial, 2017

Absolutely freezing. Everyone was complaining. Ruined the entire experience.
Had a great brunch under difficult rainy conditions. Food was hot and very tasty.
We always enjoy the atmosphere and food/service. Good stuff.
Everyone was very personable! We had a great evening.
Great meal before the shut down!! Service was excellent
Thank again Shannon!!!
Will miss our usual table...
The food was good and the service was outstanding!
Dined downstairs. Sat next to door. People would be waiting for the Hostess and hold the door open. The Hostess was always gone. One couple actually asked us what to do when they got there...was waiting forever. We were trying to eat. Should be a more welcoming environment.
Big shout out and more to Shannon!!!
She makes our week amazing !!!
Truly my favorite restaurant in Louisville. I bring visitors to town here as well as choosing it as my special celebration location.
It was my four year "cancerversary" and of course I chose to celebrate good results at the Village Anchor.
Not amazing food or value for a $50+ lunch.
I met a customer here for lunch & I will be back. There was a nice selection of food. I went for the egg sandwich and was thoroughly impressed. Our server (sorry, forgot her name) was very attentive without being annoying.
It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive.
We started with a Bloody Mary which was delicious. When then ordered an appetizer and our brunch choice.
She made sure the appetizer and our main course was brought out with enough time in between to enjoy them both separately.
Wonderful experience all around. We will definitely go back.
Cool place, staff was helpful and attentive. Food was alright. Pretty average but when you factor with the price it’s not worth it. It’s just expensive pub food. The higher end items like the steak (which I ordered) was below my expectations for the price and others food arrived cold.
Shannon is always amazing!!!
We love to see her each week and immensely enjoy her awesome beverages!!!
I’ve dined at Village Anchor 4 times prior to this. Each time was an excellent experience. This last time didn’t live up to the previous ones. I ordered a fillet with Brussels sprout side — it didn’t turn out well. The filet was somewhat mangled. THe Brussel sprouts could have stayed in the oven a little bit longer to make them more crispy and carmelized. I must’ve stopped there on an off night. The waitress was fantastic... very attentive and positive in her attitude.
Great Server in Alan, food was great and fantastic environment
Great as always. Love the new receipt payment option!
Food, service was great. Restaurant was chilly, like to be warm when iwe eat. We love the Village Anchor
Another great night at the Village Anchor! The food was great! Our server was the best! Always a great date spot!
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to - everything was out of this world delicious. Don’t miss the fried Brussels sprouts salad. Absolutely divine.
Enjoyed dinner with friends. I had 2 fish tacos with avocado & delicious sauce & homemade chips & my husband had fish & chips. Both very good! Wine was good too!!
Good food: helpful, none invasion service. Only real complaint was the main fireplace room was a bit on the cold side for me. Could be the roaring fire drawing heat out of the room. Fires are awesome for ambiance, yet can be detrimental to HVAC system balance for room heat.
We always love it here . The server was great. The heaters helped keep us warm
Our waitress was wonderful and the food was amazing! 10/10 will definitely be back
Our server Kenny was fantastic and really allowed ou to enjoy our brunch.
Another fantastic evening at the Village Anchor. I highly recommend the Brown Sugar Old Fashioned, it gets things headed in the right direction. My wife closed the evening with their version of derby pie, which was excellent. Of course, everything in between was great as well, and the staff were highly attentive the entire time.
Way over priced. Fish special was $50
And cold with little taste.
The ambiance was exquisite! The patio was perfect for a rainy fall night. The food was absolutely delicious! It was so nice to catch up with a friend while enjoying a few cocktails and a wonderful meal. Definitely going back!
Love The Village Anchor for lunch. The pick three option is great. Mix that with great company and a beautiful Autumn day ...perfectiin!
The lunch we had on the patio was exceptional. The Reubens, the chili, and egg and pancetta sandwich were the favorites
I would like add that Village Anchor fries very hard to follow the safety guidelines for the pandemic.
Our go-to place for great, refined casual dining—be it dinner for two, brunch for the family, and everything in between.
Great experience! I will definitely return. The fish tacos, salmon and mushroom risotto were the best I have ever had!
Family in town
had a wonderful anniversary celebration with friends. food was fabulous as always. Service was great. precautions for covid were perfect.
Overall we had a wonderful dining experience. The food and service were excellent. Our only complaint is that we made reservations in advance and noted that we were celebrating our anniversary, however we were seated downstairs on the patio not in the main restaurant. Technically the downstairs is a different, more casual restaurant called the Sea Hag although they have the same menu.
My Fiancé & I were celebrating our engagement and everything was great! Great food & great customer service!
The server was attentive but not intrusive. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch celebrating friends' 50th anniversary. They were very excited because they had never eaten at the Village Anchor. They said that they would definitely go back.
Food was very good, but Service was extremely slow (not the server’s fault). Music was too loud. Space heater too hot. Not a pleasant experience.
