I love the Village Anchor, it’s one of my favorite places! The ambiance is amazing and the menu has so many unique options. We were seated very near another table though, and this has happened when I’ve been there before, it’s a little crowded. If that keeps the wait times down though I’ll deal with it!
Favorite restaurant in Louisville
Excellent service. Friendly staff, great vibe. Food was excellent! The CAB Filet was a very tender cut of meat. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Loved everything about it as always. Scallops were to die for!
Service was a bit slow. We sat for quite a while before the waiter acknowledged us and took our drink order. Ordered the green chili wontons, and they were only lukewarm when they arrived. My husband had mussels, which were great. I ordered the fried chicken, and was disappointed. The chicken was moist and well-cooked, but there was way too much breading. It was like a hard shell on the chicken. I also had the collard greens, which had good smoky flavor, but were very salty.
We love this place and will go back, but the food was not as great as it usually is.
The staff was outstanding, the service was fantastic. Oh by the way, the food was terrific.
Great food and service! Something upset my tummy badly, perhaps it was me or the food. I’ll give it another try!
Food was great, excellent service from Erin, specialty mimosas were awesome.
The tables were way too close together. Wish they did a better job of spreading the tables so they were not side by side. It was hard to not hear other's conversations, when desiring a quiet and intimate setting.
The food was excellent, and service spot on, however ambiance needs some work. We were seated what appeared to be an outside dining area surrounded by a tent. The tables were very close together, and it was loud. There was a breeze coming in and our table was brightened by a huge ray of sunshine that couldn't be blocked. They did have heaters going in this area, but our table was right up against a cold brick wall.
Our waiter was outstanding!
I’m a fan of The Village Anchor. The food quality is high, but the menu is starting to feel dated and a bit heavy. I would love to see newer, lighter offerings, and also more gluten and dairy free choices. Love the lively, fun atmosphere and the service is always great.
Overall good, but disappointed with the noise level and food. Big portions, but lots of fat on the ribs and fish special had lots of bones.
The patio was hot and cold during our entire meal. Tables were too close together and could hear everything at next table but couldn’t hear person sitting next to you. Don’t know what solution would be. Still enjoy visiting.
This place never dissapoints, it's always a great meal and the atmosphere makes it such a great experience every time. Village Anchor is our favorite spot!
Just a casual lunch. The food was outstanding as usual. The service could have been a tad bit better. I had to remind our waitress a couple of times that we needed a water refill before it happened. But really no big deal, they looked quite busy. Overall we really enjoyed the meal. The elk chili and the Cuban sandwich were both wonderful.
I have eaten lunch there and love all their salad options! This was dinner and we had the salmon as well as shrimp and grits. Both were outstanding. Portion size was perfect. Wine was wonderful. Desert was shared and amazing. Our server was great - very observant and helpful with a easy going personality. We will definitely be back - for both lunch and dinner!
Our evening there was wonderful. We asked to be relocated by the fire and they accommodated us. John was our server who was excellent. He was entertaining but not overbearing. He was very knowledgeable about food choices. I had the hotter brown which was excellent and my sister had the shrimp and grits which also was excellent. We opted for the banana pudding for desert (which John suggested not his favorite). He was right. Too much meringue. We should have chosen the fried derby pie which our neighbors had. Looked marvelous. All in all a great night out with my sister. We will be back!
Food and drink served promptly in a nice surroundings.
This is one of my favorite places!! Brussel sprouts are amazing as a meal!!!!!!
Loved the food, wait staff very good, noise level a bitmuch. Enclosed patio was rather chilly even with the heaters.
Overall we enjoyed our brief dinner... but too cold to sit and enjoy another glass of wine😢
Waitress was great, food was amazing. Great way to celebrate a birthday!
Great restuarant. We eat here a lot.
They put this baby in the corner. Well technically on the enclosed porch area and it was really cold.
Everything was amazing. The atmosphere was very unique and cozy. The only thing I didn’t care for was the tables are very close together and to keep the covered patio warm, the heat was turned up a little high (but it was better than being cold.) I’ve heard about Village Anchor for years and so glad we finally made it. It is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food.
Always consistently good food and service. It's a happenin' place so consider this if you're needing a quiet locale to conduct business or catch up with your spouse. A gem of a location nestled in Anchorage KY
We have eaten at The Village Anchor many times but this visit was not very good. We waited over an hour for our food, only to be told a children's party was taking priority.
Food was good but was cold..
Excellent as always!
We ate inside by the fireplace. What an interesting chilling; all framed pictures! The foos was delicious and the Blackberry Old Fashion is now my favorite signature drink.
I have been there on a number of occasions and while the service was good, the food was not. Two people ordered the Salmon and one piece had several bones in it. The other plate was very poorly dressed. Not served as described and was barely warm. Additionally, one of the guests order fish tacos and they were not as described. We did sub grilled fish for blackened, and it was flavorless and cold.
Always the best. John gave us top notch service as usual
The heating situation on the patio is a huge mess. It was either blowing hot or extremely cold drafts on my neck when heat was off. Very uncomfortable dining experience. I was hot or freezing - no in between
Loved everything about our food, server Savvanah and over all experience! Thank You!!!
Great food! Small and loud venue.
we went for my sisters birthday dinner and the food was amazing as always, and the service was very good. i highly recommend for any occasion.
The food the delicious and our server was very nice!
The food was amazing. The only issue was that we were seated in an isle where everyone had to pass as they left. Our table was literally four inches away from the next table. This made very hard to have a private conversation. We will go back maybe next time we will ask for different seating
Delicious food and beautiful decor-perfect for a cozy date night. My husband and I enjoyed the hot brown (him) and meatloaf burger with side of sweet potato fries (me). We finished with warm banana pudding. Everything was wonderful from start to finish.
