About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for outdoor dining
The Village Anchor offers a unique setting in Louisville’s east end, both for personal and professional occasions. The Village Anchor Restaurant and Anchor Bar on the main floor bring together stone, red leathers, rich worn velvets, wrought iron, dark woods, Italian appointments, Carrera marble, and the original crimson red beer taps from Churchill Down’s Silks Bar. It offers an upscale-casual, fun environment with an inimitable European flavor and exotic French flair. The lower level Sea Hag Pub offers a completely different look and feel. The “Hag” brings together brick, worn woods, hand-wrought iron, stone, and copper. The 30-foot copper bar with built-in ice troughs chill your favorite brew or wine.

Please recognize that we do our best to accommodate patio dining reservations, though seating is based on weather and availability.

We’ve always liked the Village Anchor. Unique atmosphere inside and out. Good variety of seating options. One of our favorites, the fish tacos, have been very good throughout the years. The only complaint on this dish is the price has gone up and the number of homemade chips that come with it have gone down.

For Monday night, I couldn’t get over how crowded it was! In a good way! Tons of energy, still quiet enough first half a family conversation at our table. The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful. Love this place!

Hi Erin, Thank you for the amazing review – we love hearing that kind of energy! A packed Monday with just the right amount of buzz? That’s exactly the balance we aim for, and we’re so glad it added to the experience rather than taking away from your family time. Great food and great atmosphere are what we strive to deliver every day of the week. We truly appreciate your kind words and can’t wait to welcome you back soon. Warmly, John Wilson General Manager

First time visit to the Village Anchor and it was delightful. My husband and I went for brunch and got the spinach artichoke dip, elk and beef chili, the California Benedict, chicken and waffles, and red velvet pancakes. The food was all delicious and the service was excellent, everyone was kind and attentive, we will definitely be back!

Hi Jackie, Thank you so much for the wonderful review – we’re thrilled to hear your first visit to The Village Anchor was such a hit! That brunch lineup you and your husband tackled? Power move. From the red velvet pancakes to the California Benedict and that crowd-favorite elk & beef chili – we love seeing guests explore the menu like that. Even better to hear our team delivered with attentive, kind service throughout your meal. We’re honored to be called a neighborhood gem, and we can’t wait to welcome you both back for another round – whether it’s more brunch classics or a few creative cocktails under the sun. Warmly, John Wilson General Manager

Restaurant is very nice and feels upscale. Service left much to be desired and very slow, my guess is it is like every other restaurant lately and they are short staffed, although it did appear they had many workers there. Food was ok, but nothing special for the price we paid. The elk chili is very good, but very expensive for a bowl of chili. The meatloaf sandwich just tasted like any other burger we could get at a nice sit down restaurant and the Hotter Brown was somewhat disappointing due to small size and it just doesn’t taste right when made with chicken instead of turkey. Based on the high prices and small portions and slow service, I probably would not recommend.

Hi Lori, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad the atmosphere delivered — it’s something we work hard to maintain. That said, service delays and portion value are things we take seriously, and your feedback helps us fine-tune both. The Hotter Brown has sparked similar notes lately, and we’re actively reviewing how we present it — especially when it comes to honoring the classic. We’re taking this back to the team and would genuinely welcome the opportunity to leave a better impression next time. We never want a guest to leave feeling shortchanged. I’d love to earn a second shot to show you what this team is capable of when we fire on all cylinders. If you're open to it, reach out directly and let’s make that right. John Wilson 502.708.1850
