   Although the service was quite slow, our meal was quite good. The BLT and A sandwich was delicious. Salads were fresh, crispy, and very tasty.

   We’ve been regulars for 10 years. This was our second attempt since the remodel/reopening. Food quality given the price was not up to standard. Still a great location but $14 a cocktail is what I would expect to pay in downtown Chicago not a suburb in louisville KY. The food does not live up to former expectations. We will not be returning.

   Menu items did not come out as described in the menu. The tots in the corned beef hash were bland and tasteless. The gravy for the dish was a white pepper gravy that anyone could make with a packet of white gravy mix. Not red-eye gravy listed in the description. As for the the meatloaf burger, it's description listed a pretzel bun. It came out on a plain white bun. The sweet potato fries with the marshmallow creme were delicious. Also, $1 mimosas were advertised. However, that was down in their bar the Seahag. $7 for the same thing upstairs in the restaurant. It will be a while, if we go back.

   I came for the Hot Brown (unaware since their remodeling) that is only on the brunch menu. How disappointing. The green chili wontons aren’t the same as they were before the remodel. Completely different recipe and tasted like they came from the frozen food section of Kroger. The server didn’t even mention the specials and when he finally took our order 40 minutes after us being there and assuming we weren’t ready, informed us that the one special we wanted was out of stock. I am extremely disappointed in their change of menu and recipes when it was perfect to begin with. Even the delicious mushroom risotto got replaced with succotash. It looks like I will never get my favorite hot brown for dinner, since I am never available for brunch or lunch menus. I see no reason for me to go there in the future considering all of my favorites were removed and the poor service. It used to be so much better.

   A disappointing dinner. We are from out of town, saw the good reviews and thought we would give the Village Anchor a chance. Unfortunately the food and service were both a disappointment. Each guest including myself ordered a meal that came with fries. The fries had good flavor but were soggy and luke warm at best. My main dish was a Meatloaf burger which again was flavorful but luke warm. Drinks were ok. I had a blackberry old fashioned. I felt the drink was a little under poured and the price was a little high espy since it was made with Makers Mark.

   Service was very slow and inattentive. The fried chicken dish was not hot and it was obvious that it had been sitting for quite a bit before serving. We usually love coming here, but today's visit with extended family was a disappointment.

    Wonderful service and the cocktails and food were amazing. Alexa was our server and she did a bang up job waiting on our table. She suggested delicious cocktails from the cocktail menu and gave us recommendations for our dinner selections. The manager, Rick, stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our evening.     Fried chicken was terrible. We sat downstairs where bar waitress served us. Seemed annoyed that we asked questions. Wed 1/2 of bottles of wine. Got what she said was a $60 bottle of wine for $30. Looked up and local stores sell it for $22.

    We sat in the lanai, which was quite pleasant. Lovely atmosphere. All of us enjoyed our meals. The salmon and rice risotto was excellent. My dinner partners enjoyed their fried bologna sandwich and the elk chili. Our server was professional and timely. We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions. The Village Anchor never fails to please.

    Our table was in the basement in the corner. Very dark and no ambiance. I had to go get a cocktail menu since hostess was not at post when we arrived. We had mimosas which were good. Most of us had the French Toast. It was good but a little cold by the time we got the food. I thought the food was overpriced for what it was. We wanted the Fried Green Tomatoes but they didn’t have that. It was Mother’s Day and not that wonderful of an experience. They were not busy.

    Before booking my reservation, I had reviewed the menu and shared it with our party. The atmosphere was spot on , based on photos and reviews by previous patrons . The menus looked fantastic and everyone was looking forward to the dining experience. I booked through open table in Feb 2023. The actual date of our reservation was 04 May 2023 at 7pm, btw this is the week of the Kentucky Derby, so most places are extremely busy. Now this is the strange, two weeks before the reservation, I was contacted by manager about our reservation. His emailed me a request for me to sign a contract for the reservation. At first, I thought this may be phishing scam, but once I contacted the restaurant, indeed it was something their establishment requires during Derby week. Once we arrived , we waited to be seated my 15 mins of so, no big deal. Service by the server was exceptional and attentive. We ordered appetizers which were delicious. As continued to review the menu, I noticed it seemed abbreviated from the menu posted on line. I inquired and the menu was in fact reduced, which I never really got a reason from the server or the manager about this. Most of the party found something to enjoy. I am not sure I will return to dine in the future. The experience I was expecting and told about by others did not quite meet the mark for me.

    Our server was great, drinks were great, but the food was just ok. It was significantly more expensive than the food at “sister restaurants” Grassa Geamma and LeMoo though. I’m a big fan, so I was let down when Village Anchor didn’t meet the same standard. We were mocked repeatedly by a woman at the table beside us, which is what caused us to leave early. She repeatedly commented that I was “careless”, “disrespectful” and “lacked class” because I answered a happy bit call from my sister. The call lasted 4 minutes and 12 seconds. I apologized but she continued to talk to her partners about myself and my husband throughout the next 20 minutes. I don’t hold the restaurant responsible for a guest’s behavior, but we won’t be returning to the Village Anchor…combination of expensive but “just ok” food dishes and an unwelcoming atmosphere steered us away. I left my 34th birthday dinner in tears.

    The experience at the Village Anchor brought about a different adventure. If you are looking for a decent Wine Dine Wednesday, then this is your place. However, for food be ready to experience different twists for your taste buds. For example, there is no hamburger, but a meatloaf burger. You can experience the Collard Green Dip for your appetizer. If you have little people (children), I will say that this is probably not the place/atmosphere for them. The food is okay for the prices, and the service is just okay. If you reside in the area of Anchorage, KY then this spot is a cute spot to dine and have drinks. Would I visit it again, probably, but not in the near future.

    Yay to the Village!!! I am so happy that one of my favorites, blue cheese dressing wedge salad and an added protein, was there in force to make my evening meal. As a bonus, the side of fried okra was just perfect! Shannon of course was there to save the day with her ever amazing courteous and prompt service…. Not to mention perfect beverages!!!     Great food and service. The noise level was our fault due to eating outside with a table of lady tennis players being overly loud. 1/2 price Wine is always a good value. We usually have a salad for lunch and is does seem a little pricy even without protein added. I live in Indiana and we love to make the travel for lunch . Very worth the time to get here. We try to come once a month but made it twice this month-so far. The new waiters seems very experienced and friendly. We love it here. Thanks for the service.

    First time there and didn’t realize we would be in a patio area that just had plastic curtains to block wind. It was cold and service was slow. The won ton appetizer was good but the crab cakes were cold. It was a 6 person party. Salmon was good, chicken fair, shrimp and grits poor. Would not recommend and will not go back.     Sat at our table for 30 minutes before waitress came by for our drink order, she apologized. Took 20 more minutes for drinks to arrive, she apologized again. We ordered an app and two entrees; they forgot the app until after we got the entrees. She apologizes again. Entrees were fine, but we asked to speak with the manager just to understand why our service experience was so out of character. He got extremely defensive and unprofessional, ultimately insulting my wife. I remain stunned. We will never return--life is too short to be treated like this at a restaurant.
