Villa Verone Ratings and Reviews
We have been going to this restaurant for years now and thoroughly enjoy the food, the service and the atmosphere. A wonderful place for two of you on date night, and just as appropriate for a day/night out with friends and/or family.
We are Italian and always enjoy the wonderful food that is prepared with authentic expertise. Our family loves the freshness and incredible taste of every dish that we have shared.
The added bonus is the energetic bar scene and the great bands that play on the weekends.
So happy that we have found this fantastic gem!
Bon appettito and salute'!
I took my girlfriend there on Saturday for Valentines day as we could not go out on Wednesday. Before I picked her up I dropped off a dozen red roses in their package and asked if they could be delivered to the table after we were seated.
True to their word they not only delivered the flowers, but, they removed them from their package trimmed them, put them in a vase for me and spread them out - great job.
Our waiter was fantastic, the food was simply amazing and the wine tasted great. After it was all done, our waiter gave us free desert even though we were almost full and wished us a happy Valentines day - what amazing service and fantastic hospitality.
After dinner we enjoyed the live band in the other room for several hours - the service in that room was just as good as the one in our dining area. The owner was walking around checking on people, greeting them, making sure everything was going well - that is how a business should be ran - such attention to detail.
We cannot wait to go back.
Great job Villa Verone.
If I went over to a friend's house whose mother was Italian, it would have been damn fine food, with similar presentation. That is, nothing special, just good, basic, old style Italian. Portions are adequate, not too big, not too small. The building itself is an actual house, fitted to be a restaurant, reminiscent of Meson Sabika in Naperville. The owner is definitely old world "ey, ow-you-doin" Italian, as was our server. Space was tight, but not uncomfortably so. Very cozy ambience.
The problem I had is that they charged "fancy Italian" prices, nearly double of what we would have expected for the quality of food we got. Maybe they jacked up the prices because it was Valentines Day 2 days prior, but we definitely weren't served $20 lasagna. Maybe $12 at most. The asparagi appetizer was something I could have made myself - it was that straightforward - but they charged $15 for it. And the martinis were $12 each, but made with house ingredients. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have had an issue with the prices had the quality matched.
In the end, it's cozy and quaint, with a great old world feel. It's just too expensive for what you get.
We were there to celebrate valentine day since I had to work on the actual day. I had the special for the day which was a New York strip steak with rigatoni and garnish with large shrimps, portabello mushrooms, red and green peppers. My wife had the veal francese over a bed of angel hair pasta. My caesar salad had anchovy with it and her wedge salad had just about everything under the sun. From salad to entrée, all selections was outstanding except I wish they would have given me a bit more pasta. Oh, did I mention there was an outstanding band (The Beaux) playing there that night too. Definitely a very enjoyable was achieved!
The food and service are excellent. They serve some of the best Italian food I've every had. They have very good bands in their lounge area, especially if you like music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The bands start at 8:00. Unfortunately around 9:30 a crowd of noisy and rude 30-somethings up consistently show up and take over half of the lounge area. As a result we've given up going to Villa Verone for dinner and dancing.
We had a great time on Valentine’s. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, as was the wait staff. They recommended a nice red wine while we waited for our table (a short wait because we were early for our reservation). When we ordered our food they had no issues accommodating our requests and the food came quickly. It was also delicious - we had the butternut squash ravioli and the lobster ravioli. Our waiter also was very friendly and clearly enjoyed being able to create a nice dining experience.
Ask for Dino. He will make your experience so much better and will make you feel at home and valued as a customer. The food is always amazing and the place itself is so beautiful warm and cozy. Highly recommended, dessert is the only place that is slightly lacking but their cannolis are great!
Villa Verone never disappoints! If it's a table for two for date night or a table for 12 to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, the food, service, ambiance is amazing. Food portions are nicely sized and there is something on the menu for everyone. The waitstaff is very attentive no matter how busy they get and are very engaged in making sure your dining experience is top notch. I've never had a bad meal or service compliant in the many years I have been dining at Villa Verone!
I frequently dine here -- both for special occasions and just a lunch/night out! The food is fantastic -- authentic Italian food. Whether I've ordered just appetizers, seafood or pasta, the food has been delicious. Had my retirement party here and it was such a hit that several couples now dine here as well! The outdoor garden area is absolutely delightful. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Also, for those of us who are 50+, I appreciate the Martini Bar; the music is for our generation. This is not easy to find. Nice sized dance floor and quite a bit of seating is available.
Villa Verone is a staple of our neighborhood. The owner Pietro frequents the tables and is very attentive to patrons. The food is always good although my friend was not as happy with her meal. The waiter was helpful to provide her with what she requested (she had ordered off the menu which is allowed). My gnocchi was wonderful. Our waiter, though pleasant, forgot to bring my friend's wine and neglected to bring us bread but upon reminding him, he acquiesced. He also kept me waiting at the front when I first arrived while he completed and then answered another phone call. The person standing there should be the first order of business. Those calling on the phone can be placed on hold. Outside of those issues, Villa Verone is a superb restaurant and has never disappointed in the quality of food, ambience and hospitality.
We enjoyed a delicious Christmas Eve dinner in a lovely, warm setting. Although we were one of their later seatings, the staff welcomed us and did not make us feel rushed at all. Our server was extremely helpful and attentive. It was a perfect way to spend a special evening.
