Villa Tequila Bar & Cocina Ratings and Reviews
I generally have a good experience at the establishment. Drinks are excellent.. The night in question there supposedly was a “wedding” downstairs..we were informed of a longer wait time however.. waited over 2 hours for our food at which time we decided to pay our bill and leave to get food elsewhere. On any other night I never had issues with this place. Will come back
They could not find our reservation when we arrived, and did not bother trying to find them once we explained we needed to be checked in for Open Table. There were only high top tables which made us unable to stay, because one of our party members could not sit at a high top table. The menu was extremely limited compared to what was listed online. Overall, we didn't feel we missed much when we were unable to stay, and moved our party to a restaurant in Newark.
Have beem here many times and it juat gets better. I will tell you the freaka come out at night too. Met aome really interesting charactera here. One of my favorite spots. I reccommend to all. Music and energy ia great. So leave the kids at home and have a blast

Been there a few times. Enjoy the atmosphere and my older children like the place too. Our 730 pm reservation became a 8 pm reservation. 30 minutes behind schedule.
Big disappointment was they were our of guacamole. One daughter went there specifically for the guac. Then we ordered dessert and of the 3 items they serve, they were out of the one we wanted. Should have told us while we were waiting what you were out of.
Will try again but things have to hit on all cylinders to keep our business.
Mrs and I the Valentine's Day prefix menu and although the options were limited for my fist visit the food was great. I also tried a Blue Agave Margarita which is served in a mason jar and mine was a very eccentric blue color which is not what I expected from a bar that specializes in tequila. Despite the color it was very good and heavy on the liquor. Great place! I'd love to try their normal menu.
Mrgaritas are very good. I highly recommend the SPICY Margarita. It was declicious! The chips were crisp, but not warm; they seemed to be around for a while. The guacamole was average. The best thing we had were the porkbelly sliders. They were cooked to perfection and delicious! The tacos were also quite flavorful.
When we drive up restaurant looked dark and uninviting. When we walked in it had a very casual and comfortable feel.
Took a while before waitress came to take our drink order. Restaurant was not that busy when we got there.
We placed our order. Drinks were delicious. Food (fajitas) were the best. Ordered dessert to good. Took way too long to get it. We ordered the Churros. When we opened it when we got home there were 2 and 1/2 and it looked like the 1/2 was broken off. Why not 3?
Would definitely go back. Food and drinks were good. Would hope to get a better server next time.
My experience in Villa Tequila was absolutely phenomenal. Margaritas taste so fresh and has a great kick. The appetizers are really good and entrees are very tasteful. You have many options such as being a big eater or a moderate eater. Also, for the vegans you have options to. Anyone who is allergic to gluten you have picked the perfect place. This place is very comfortable zone. I would recommend this place for anyone who's reading this. THANK YOU VILLA!!
Came to Visit Villa Tequila for the first time with my girlfriend, and the experience from the door to our table was sensational! We we're greeted with friendly smiles. My girl and I ordered a couple of drinks, and they were up to Par! Best Guava Margarita ever! Tacos were well seasoned and reasonable priced! Pork tacos are a must have, Our waitress Rosy was very attentive and suggested us great drinks. Overall music was great, the authentic decor was very welcoming.. just a great place to come eat, drink and relax.. definitely coming back for Karaoke Night!!
I made a reservation for 7pm and when I got there they were packed but my table was ready!! Awesome!! The drinks were delicious and refreshing. The food took a bit but was definitely worth the wait. The service was outstanding! Everything was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
My first visit here and had an amazing time. My wife and I had the pork belly sliders and arepas w crab meat. Both were delicious. I had the Skirt Steak which was amazing and my wife enjoyed her Salmon Tacos. Lively atmosphere with music. Definitely plan on coming back. Recommend.
We overall enjoyed our meal at Villa. The food was fresh and well prepared. Nice kick to my salad. My boys loved the chips and salsa. Burrito was overstuffed and yummy. Shrimp tacos portion a bit on the small side but well prepared. Service was a bit slow which I found odd since we were there early in the evening so there could not have been a back up in the kitchen. But if you are going to go, save room for the churros dessert. They were well worth the wait - homemade (like their chips) and hot and delicious! Margaritas fresh and generous. Happy hour a bargain $2 off margaritas and other specials. I am sure this place rocks after hours since it is a bar-like setting.
My boyfriend and I were staying in a local motel for our birthday and randomly chose this location. This was one of the best dates we've had! The food was delicious, the DJ was great and the drinks were on point. My boyfriend is a bartender and even he agrees the drinks were very good, rare words to hear. This was an overall great experience from beginning to end. Unfortunately we're not from the area but we will definitely make a trip there again and highly recommend it.
We went to dinner as a group of six people - six or more they automatically put 18% gratuity on your bill. The drinks and the food were all very good. However, the service was beyond horrible and slow. The waiter really did not seem to have a clue when taking orders and it took FOREVER to get our drinks and the place was not even that busy yet. After waiting so long for our drinks when the food finally came, a few side orders were forgotten and it took FOREVER to get those too. Needless to say if we had our druthers our waiter would not have received and 18% tip from us - but he didn't care about service because he knew he would get his tip regardless. So, if you can look past awful service, the place is worth it for the food and drinks. I wont be back anytime soon as I need to space that experience out for a while!
I'll be back again because the food is great- and I don't know where else I can go to get tacos/burritos that are not only delicious- but also fit the dietary needs of myself and my friends (random allergies for all of us make going out for dinner challenging!).
However- don't go if you don't have time to spare bc service is painfully slow. And bring ear protection because they like to crank the music to painful levels which will force you to shout to whoever is seated directly next to or across from you. The space is too small and crowded to support music at that decibel level.
But if you don't mind crazy loud music and waiting an hour or so for a couple tacos... the food is worth the pain and wait. Just saying... maybe put in your order and then go next door for a new tattoo while you wait. 2 birds, right?
Meat inside quesadilla was like bbq-flavored, "pulled" beef. Being from Colorado (where they know Mexican food), I have not found authentic Mexican - or even good "Tex-Mex" - food anywhere around here. Have decided I'll have to go to NYC for that. Menu item VERY overpriced, considering what I ordered and considering the poor atmosphere/decor.
Food was amazing, the music was great!!! Honestly I would go every weekend, cons are that they don't serve food after 11 and that's about the time when you want to snack if you're drinking. So please serve at least appetizers!!! And it would be the perfect weekend spot!!!
It's an ok place for some drinks. However, the food was pretty bad. I ordered a chicken quesadillas, My friend had a chicken burrito . We couldn't finish our dishes even though we were famished. I will go back for a drink and make sure that I eat somewhere else before I get there😔
Fun atmosphere and most of the food is great. Was disappointed with the chicken fajitas-the chicken was bland with no seasoning and the skillet had mostly tomatoes and onions and very little chicken! The tacos are good though and the guacomole is decent-not the best but good.
