Villa Mosconi Ratings and Reviews
Our first time at Villa Mosconi was ok. One hostess lady was very nice and was going to sit us at a larger 4 seat table per our request. Then another lady came over and in front of everyone said no that we had to sit at smaller table because the other table was for 4 people only. So we sat and one minute later, the lady sat 2 people at the 4 seated table we had just asked for. This was not a good start. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The food was ok. Would not return.
My friend (who is Italian-American) and I wanted a quiet restaurant with excellent food, preferably Italian, and within walking distance of Washington Square. We found it at Villa Mosconi. The fettucine with fresh porcini was outstanding. The branzino we ordered was good but not outstanding. The desert (tartufo) was great - very delicious, and worth the calories. The wine by the glass was fine, but not exceptional. So overall the food was very good (ranging from excellent to okay). But what set this restaurant above the bar was a combination of the service and the environment. Our waiter was professional, friendly, and attentive, and was never bothersome; we commend the waiter for suggesting that we *not* put Parmegiano Reggiano on the pasta until we tried it -- good advice, and we didn't add the cheese. The environment was elegant without being over the top, dignified without being stuffy, and very quiet. This is exactly what we were looking for! We'll be back.
Another great meal only out done by our helpful and accommodating server Rita. The specials were out of this world. Brought a group of friends it was their first time there they were so impressed by location, delicious food, and staff. We all can't wait to go back!
We fell in love with this place! From the food, to the service, to the atmosphere, everything was perfect. If you are looking for a wonderful meal for 2 or 20, Jerry and his amazing team will do you right. My wife and I had lunch and the next day I had a business dinner for 20 in their Garden Room. We were treated great and made friends with the owner; great guy. Try this place. You'll be glad you did.
A wonderful authentic Italian multi-generational family owned/run restaurant in Greenwich Village. Although for my taste the Bronzini (European Sea Bass) was a little over-cooked. The other main courses, appetizers, salads, side dishes and deserts were all very tasty and the portion sizes were generous. Prices were affordable.
p.s. Also a rare find was the Zabaglione, made to order and served warm!
We'll be returning.
This is a wonderful little port in the storm! A great place to wander into on a cold winter's evening with warm family welcome and outstanding service by every member of staff. The food is fresh and beautifully presented. A definite keeper on the list of must repeat restaurants. Thank you for a terrific experience!
Very good Italian food. There were 3 of us - we each had a different entree- all delicious. Husband thought his grouper (a special) was best he ever had.
Only complaint- we had asked for quiet table and we were seated next to a large, noisy group. We should have asked to be reseated but decided not to.
Villa Mosconi is an old family favorite. This is a very authentic Italian restaurant, family owned and operated.
A meal at Villa Mosconi is as close as you can get to being in Italy. It’s not pretentious like the uptown restaurants, just great food.
It has an extensive menu; however, if you don’t see your favorite, ask your server and i’m Certain the chef will accommodate your request.
You will Love Villa Mosconi.
What a find! I've been in NYC for 40 years (and this establishment just celebrated its 40th anniversary!) and never knew about this place.
Convenient location, nice ambiance, friendly wait staff, and most importantly, excellent food. We had the eggplant parmigiana and one of the evening's specials, ravioli stuffed with veal, spinach, chestnuts, and parmigiana. Both were scrumptious!
Desert was a light and tasty ricotta cheesecake. Mmmm!
Villa Mosconi is now at the top of my list for restaurants in Manhattan, and I am very much looking forward to my next visit.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and the service is great. A real NY restaurant that feels as if it has been here forever and I hope it stays forever! The tables are spaced so that the diners are not sitting on top of each other; the room in the back is especially nice an quiet. Do not miss an opportunity to dine here.
My first time there with a woman friend who has been a patron for years. The food was outstanding, I had the chingale which is hard to come by and was excellent. We started our meal with burrata/tomatoes & prosciutto. The staff are very congenial and very efficient they made us feel like family.
the only thing with my Open Table reservations - they ask if it is a special occasion, i.e., birthday. I said yes with two restaurants on our trip to NYC and surprised that it was not acted upon at either location. Not a big deal just not sure why the question is asked if nothing is done.
We discovered Villa Mosconi while searching for Italian Restaurants in Greenwich Village. Although the staff were a bit unwelcoming, once we ordered and received our meals they warmed up to us. The food was excellent - Delicious Eggplant Parmigiana and outstanding Veal Marsala. I'd certainly recommend Villa Mosconi.
For 15 years This has been our place. As much as my own house. We have been treated like family since day one. The food is always amazing and Jerry and the crew make you feel like you at your nonna's for dinner. I always have, and will recommend its restaurant to anyone going to NYC.
