Wonderful quiet place. Tables are close together but the food is amazing.
The gentleman at the door was very nice, professional and had a great personality making sure everyone was seated as quickly as possible; we only had to wait 10 minutes past our reservation. We were starving and had to ask for bread which was stale. When a busgirl went by we asked her to feel a piece (hard and dry) and she said "Ohhh" and shook her head no. We received another basket which was better but still not fresh like you would expect in the North End. Our waiter was very good and the food was better than expected; 2 of us had the homemade fettuccine, one with artichokes and one with shrimp and 1 had the spaghetti with pesto and pine nut which was also good but the pasta wasn't homemade. We are bread people and were very disappointed. If a restaurant in the North End can't make their own bread they should at least be able to purchase it for their patrons. With all the other options in the area, won't be back.
Fantastic. Fit us in last minute food was great all 9 of us loved our food
A real Italian restaurant specializing in seafood. Nice Italian atmosphere right on the street of Boston's Italian North End.
Excellent North End restaurant. My wife and I both had a Saturday lunch of veal while visiting Boston. Each was superbly prepared, but the Michelangelo with ham and tomato cream sauce was particularly delicious. Nicely curated wine list. Finally, the cannoli is a must. Pastry was filled at the table, with generous toppings.
Out for dinner in the North End with friends. Had never been here before but it came recommended. So glad we went, everyone really enjoyed their meal. Service was wonderful and the bar even stayed open a little late so we could finish our after dinner drinks! Definitely will return. The 3 course seafood menu was a big hit with our friends who ordered off of it.
One word. Disappointing. Valet parking - I confirmed they have it when res was confirmed. When we arrived the Valet informed us that they were no longer accepting cars and directed us to a parking lot several blocks away. Don't advertise it if you don't have it. On a positive note our table was ready when we arrived. The table for 8 was crammed into a corner of the bar area where 2 of the seats were nestled underneath the "raw bar" display. The bar was very busy and loud. We had people standing over our table, it was difficult to have a conversation and our food had to be delivered by walking through all of the people in the bar. Our server was nice but clearly overwhelmed. Bar service was very slow. The food was "ok" but not memorable. We had to ask for a salad that had been ordered and not delivered and the same with a dessert. We were charged for another dessert that was never delivered. We were there to celebrate a birthday and ordered their "special" chocolate fondant cake, which needs to be ordered with your meal to allow for baking time. Not only did I have to remind the server that we had ordered it, it was the LAST dessert to be served - after everyone else had finished their desserts and coffee. When it arrived it was very disappointing. It was served on a large tray with cocoa powder, a scoop of ice cream (very good), whipped cream and berries. The cake itself was tiny and had fallen so that it looked like crap. The cake was not warm (it clearly had not just been cooked as advertised) nor was it soft and gooey in the middle. All-in-all the experience and meal at Villa Francesca did not live up to our expectations and we left as very unsatisfied customers. Plenty of fabulous restaurants in the North End, no need to return to this one.
Always a delicious meal that’s why we continue to return! Lobster ravioli is on the top of my daughters favorite list! Yummy!
Was seated in strange basement of restaurant. To be honest, I thought I was gunna be gunned down by Mario and Luigi. Sorry. Food was probably great. I left and went to Rabias. Rabias also sucked so shame on me?🤕
Fantastic delicious authentic Italian food at a super reasonable price. Have tried over 30 restaurants in the North End (lived there for 4 years) and this one always looked a bit dingy but OMG the food is to die for.
I have had dinner here in the past and it was much better. We got seated downstairs this time and the atmosphere is not as romantic or scenic. The food was just okay, nothing memorable. One person in our party got served about 5 minutes after the rest of us.
Love Restaurant week
I have been craving McDonald’s my here for 20 years and have never been disappointed. Always amazing food incredible service outstanding wine list. An absolute must if you’re in the North end
This was my second time there and both experiences have been wonderful overall look forward to going back
My friends and I love Villa Francesca. The food and service is great.
The appetizer mussels on white wine was delicious... plenty for 3 people.
The seating was a little too close for comfort for me but the over all feel of the place and ambiance was good. The food was absolutely delicious! I will definitely tell people about my experience here. You best believe I'll be back for more of those delicious oysters!!!
Everything was excellent. I had the veal francese and it couldn’t have been cooked any better. Don’t change a thing. The restaurant week menu was very good.
Great restaurant, with good service and food is outstanding
Great food wonderful service
We really enjoyed Villa Francesca. There are many great restaraunts in the North End and Villa Francesca's is one of them.
I always love my experience at Villa Francesca in the North End. The wait staff are highly attentive and they were not upset about us coming in a little later than scheduled. The food came out quickly and was very delicious and flavorful, filling us all up. I can't wait to come back and try other menu options that I was eyeing, and have another great authentic Italian experience here.
Food was delicious! We arrived 30 minutes late but still seated us as we had called ahead. ( Boston traffic the worst on Friday nights.) Service was excellent as was the food.
Great food and exceptional service. Waiter was a really nice guy
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! DO NOT GO!!! First, the owner lied that he had not received our reservation via OpenTable (made days in advance) even though the bartender stated that the reservation was in the system. I showed my confirmation but owner did not care. We were told that we had to either sit by the kitchen or wait over an hour for a table. There were other tables available but was told that they were holding those tables for another guest that had just called ahead. When I asked to sit at another table that would accommodate us comfortably, owner said that he would only give me a small 4 top and add a chair at the end. I said that that was not acceptable and even a fire hazard and he replied-that is how he sits parties of five on a four top. So if you are a party of five, be ready to sit at a small 4 top! Shame. I have lived in the North End for years and this restaurant was always one of my favorites. The great thing about the North End that there are many other restaurants that have better food and where the service is impeccable!!!! Don't settle for this place.
I love the North End. You pretty much can’t go wrong anywhere in there for food. Villa Francesca was no exception. Great food. Good service. Fair pricing. Great location.
We had a very nice dinner for 6. Food was very good, and staff wad friendly.
There are so many good, little restaurants in the North End, it is really difficult to pick the "one". Considering it was Valentines Day, everything was smooth from the moment we walked in the door. We were seated right away. Our waitperson explained the set menu for the occasion as well as the regular menu. Drinks and delicious bread was served promptly while our order was taken.
I had the Cozze Alla Francesca, mussels. OMG! They were so good! My main was Fettuccine Calamari which was just OK. I did eat it all, but I was still dreaming about the mussels. My Valentine had Sogliola Alla Meditteranea, which was also delicious. Now the problem happened.
What do you want for dessert? If you want Tortino Di Choccolato Fondente you need to order it with your main. We didn't and the place was very busy. Our waitress checked the manager at our request to see if they would mind if we tied up the table. It was not a problem and 20 minutes later this awesome dessert arrived! It ended our evening perfectly!
One note is that they do validate parking at the Parcel 7 garage.
All in all, we are ready to go back! Is this the "one"?
We absolutely love Villa Francesca. It’s my favorite restaurant. The lobster raviolis are to die for. The fritti did mare is also excellent!
We were led to the basement and decided not to stay. Wasn’t a Valentine’s Day setting in our judgement .
There were tables on the main floor, but the hostess said they were “reserved”. Apparently, not for Open Table users.
I couldn’t avast for a better meal or a better time or a better place the entire evening was fantastic
Make sure you get seated downstairs or in the main room- we were by the bar and it was loud and cold! Amazing lobster ravioli and fresh cannoli. Great food. Just be prepared to take your time, as service is slow. This is restaurant that is worth the trip!
Overall, not a bad experience. I’ve been going for years and food is always consistently good.
Brought my parents to our favorite place before the celtics game - outstanding as always!
Really lovely people. Will come back next time I’m in Boston.
We ordered the veal parm. and couldn't find the veal...a tiny little piece covered in Mozz. !The extra large plate was bigger than the portion. Sauce was tasty and ziti was good. Bread was stale & it look moldy.
Loved the dessert, the "Cornet Suzie" was amazing....but with all the wonderful restaurants in Boston's North End I wish we found somewhere else to have dinner. The chicken breast was overcooked and couldn't be cut with a butter knife (they did remake the dish but of course one person is waiting as we are trying to eat a hot meal), and the mussels were so teeny and were starting to get a undesirable fishy smell. I'd go again for wine, cappuccino and dessert--because it is very cozy, but I wouldn't choose to eat dinner there again...
It was so amazing We love this restaurant and go here at least twice a month. It never disappoints us!
Excellent ambience on the lower level and very intimate settings.Food was really authentic and good.
Anniversary dinner of my wife beating breast cancer. The server was amazing, attentive and fun. The ambiance was perfect and the food was fabulous. Thank you villa Francesca
