It was great except for the table. It was a wobbly tiny table which didn’t have enough room for all the food. Very annoying. The food was great. The service was good.
We waited 30 minutes with an RSVP. They crammed us into a two-top that was within a few inches of tables on either side. Then they had to move our table right against the one next to us more than once to bring a presentation cart through. The food was nothing to rave about. Very disappointed.
This is probably my 3rd time at Villa Francesca and as usual it didn’t disappoint. They had our table for 10 already set up when we arrived and took us right to it. The food was excellent and so was the service.
Did not like the survival with brandy heated with torch gun
Lobster fra Diablo sauce was not very tasty
Salad was okay
Mine tribe soup was best part
Limited pasta dishes
Would not recommend better food elsewhere in north end
Never actually got served. Waiter was unattentive and after sitting for 20 minutes, we left
Everything was out standing
Very Delicious 💜
I hadn't had dinner at Villa Francesca for a long, long time. Wow, I was so impressed with the service,
the quality of the food, and the ambiance. The freshness of the parmesan, the wheel right there. The fact that they fill the cannoli's at the table and offer various topping and the creme caramel was also great.
This was lunch during DineOut Boston. The list of appetizers, salad entrees, and pasta selections was extensive. I loved the bruschetta, the best ever.
The three of us shared everything and loved every dish.
I love the fact that they also a large bar where you can feel comfortable sitting alone.
It's my new favorite place, beautiful with wide-open windows, lots of flowers and the raw bar displayed.
I would only recommend going here if it wasn't busy...so not sure when that would be. I've been to Boston twice and both times ate at an Italian restaurant in this same area. Both times we were packed in like sardines, so this time was no exception. I could not hear what my husband was saying, but if we tried to speak up more, then the people who were literally less than two feet from us on either side would hear every word we were saying. We heard a lot of "what?" during our meal because of this. I often had to relay what our server was saying to my husband because he could not hear her (and no, we are not hard of hearing, we are in our early 40's). Our server was friendly but not very attentive as it was so busy. It was very hot at our table even though we sat by the open window. There was no airflow where we were sitting. We ordered garlic bread with our meal and it was true garlic overload, I really didn't enjoy it. I really enjoyed the homemade fettuccine dish with shrimp. Also, we had a reservation but we waited 20 minutes (there's no where to stand and wait, but we did get a seat at the bar), and I only think we got seated when we did because my husband asked about it after waiting 20 minutes.
We brought two children - ages 10 mo and 2 years - and the restaurant was very accommodating.
Dine Out week, we were seated promptly, excellent service, excellent Food. Exceeded expectations .
The only situation we had, we ordered
3 blood orange martinis and were charged
$12 for 2 of them and $18 for one of them????
When we questioned waitress she said, the extra charge was for ice?????
Never have been charged extra for ice before.
Perhaps a manager could provide reason for this?
Did not ask to see manager, we were having a nice evening and didn’t want to spoil the evening.
Very enjoyable evening get together with family
Attentive wait staff
I went on restaurant week for lunch and the food was wonderful. There were many choices and it made for a very pleasant experience.
Overall the experience was excellent. I asked for and got a window table. It was like dining alfresco, the window wall was open. The service fell apart on us because we were having a late lunch we got caught in a shift change. It was 45 minutes after our apps before the new server placed the main course. Probably just a one time glitch.
We had a wonderful meal! We made a reservation for 8 and probably had to wait an extra 10 or so minutes for our table. To their defense, there was a large event in the North End and it was Boston's "Dine Out-Restaurant Week" so there were a lot of people. Once we sat down, our server was excellent and the food was out-of-this-world. We have already told our friends and family about this place and can't wait to go back! It is a bit loud in the restaurant but nothing too crazy. Highly recommend the lobster ravioli and the cannoli for dessert!
Surprisingly good for a North End mainstay. Atmosphere was quite pleasant, though a bit on the loud side. Food was very good, but the pasta tended to be ever so slightly over cooked. Menu was a bit more than basic, but nothing special. Still, quality, service, atmosphere all would lead me to recommend the place and return for another meal.
Had to wait 20 minutes even with a reservation and people with no reservation were being seated ahead of us Vey very very disappointing
Great Italian food in a wonderful atmosphere. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. Would definitely highly recommend!
It was very good!
My husband I wanted to try a few new restaurants for Restaurant Week. Villa Francesca had a fabulous menu. So we decided to give it a try. We were sooooo glad we did. The lobster ravioli was amazing! My husband had the chicken cacciatore for his entree and was raving about it.
Our server was friendly and on top of everything. Food was was great. Would definitely make this a stop on another NorthEnd night.
A very pleasant restaurant week dinner. The food was delicious. Did not feel rushed. Many choices on the prefix menu for restaurant week. Would definitely return.
We happened to visit during Dine Out Boston & had a wonderful 3 course lunch for $25.
The food was excellent. I had the mussel appetizer, veal and pasta main course and cannoli for dessert (which was stuffed tableside) My friend had tomato & mozzarella, chicken broccoli over ziti, and custard dessert.
The staff was attentive and friendly and food came in a timely manner and the atmosphere was fun
I’d recommend Villa Francesca highly
Food was good, but could stand more seasoning.
It was great restaurant. Good food, good service. And great location.
This is the restaurant my family always want to come back to. Food is amazing, staff professional, setting charming and lovely.
Celebrating my birthday with my 2 daughters
Overall a great meal. The only unfortunate part was our table location, in the basement next to the waitstaff station. Food and wine was excellent, would return...
Fantastic cuisine with Italian charm. Cozy restaurant with open air dining. Our server was great and answered all our questions. We will be back during future visits to Boston.
The food is delicious, the lobster ravioli is to die for, and the service is outstanding
Villa Francesca does not disappoint for a special evening out. Food and service were great, everything came exactly as ordered. Servers were ever-present without being obtrusive. We sat at a window table and watched the North End pass by us, complete with traffic, sirens, and loud conversations, but that's part of the fun. My only issue is that the tables are really close to one another, which makes it difficult to have a private conversation or move around (for example, to go to the rest room). On the other hand, our neighbors were quite friendly!
I had a fantastic day and Villa Francesca was a perfect way of ending my visit to Boston. Exceptional food and service.... wish we had a Villa Francesca here in Portland.
Table was not ready when promised and we were seated in a damp basement, as opposed to the nicer ground floor space with open windows. Food was not bad, but was super salty with pools of melted butter. Service was not great: they forgot to prepare my mussels so they arrived when others were eating desert.
We love it here! Drinks are awesome and the food is great. We got bruschetta as an app, so fresh and flavorful. I got the chicken parm which is huge and amazing! We also got the veal parm, highly recommend all!! Our server was super sweet and attentive !
Food was delicious. Portions just right. Window seat great.
Great for a Friday night date! Right off of Hanover Street and within a short walk to Mike’s Pastry. We were seated next to the window but since it was excellent weather they had opened up the street side walls so we experienced more of a ‘balcony’ effect with warm summer air while still seated in the restaurant. I had seen the cute boats that they serve oysters in and yes they are as awesome in person as you might think. We chose to follow the seafood pre fix menu and added the oysters for starters. Great food, great weather, great date!
Great food with really good service. On a nice night you cannot beat the window seating...
Nice atmosphere, good drinks, Cesar salad had way too much dressing. Pasta dishes good and sole was also good.
Outstanding food. It was a warm evening and a bit uncomfortable without air conditioning.
Might want to turn down the music. No one goes to a fine north end restaurant to hear the same volume of crappy music you hear in a bowling alley.
I made this reservation for a friend whose parents and extended family (11) were coming to town for the weekend and wanted a good place in the North End for dinner. I was happy to suggest Villa Francesca having been many times and always enjoyed it. He let me know everyone was thoroughly happy with their choices and thanked me for my recommendation. Because it was such a large crowd, even though I was confirmed on OpenTable, I called as a courtesy to make sure they knew they such a large crowd would be coming. They appreciated my call and said they would take care of them well. They did. Good choice!
