Villa Dolce Ratings and Reviews
One of Middleton, WI restaurant treasures, the pizza is outstanding (among the top three in the Madison area), the entrees are unusual and first rate. Antipasto plate highly recommended, great gelatos for dessert. I've been to Villa Dolce many times over the past 10 years and have never been disappointed. Great bar, too.
This restaurant is a reliable favorite! The food is delicious, the staff is professional yet fun, and the half-price-wine-bottles Wednesday is a big draw. Their pizza is the best ever. The only drawback and it’s small is that it can get loud when it’s busy.
Food my wife and I ordered was very good. Other couple dining with us had pizza. They said it tasted ok but crust was too doughy. 2 of us ordered brandy old fashioned sweets. Not very good, flat soda and too light on the brandy. Waitress was very good. If not for those 2 negatives I would have rated the restaurant higher.
The experience over all was quite delightful! Pasta entrées that all three of us had were delicious. We were all pleased with appetizers. They were well presented. We asked to have the music changed ; we thought it was quite upbeat and noisy. We politely asked if we could have something softer. The lady I spoke with was very accommodating and the music was changed which definitely helped with conversation and the ambience. I will definitely go back again.
Food was really good. Tables close together. Comfy chairs but very hard to get in and out of where table was located in restaurant. I ended up hitting my head on lamp above and almost knocking water glass off table trying to get back out. Waitress could of been a little more personable. Food was good enough that we will be back!
We had a great family dinner. Our daughter, son in law, and 11 month old grandson joined us. We were seated in a quiet area. Our waitress took our order quickly and the food came out of the kitchen in a timely not rushed manner. Everyone loved the food and wine. Leftover portions were all taken home. We will most certainly return.
Never fails to please. Attentive service, personable wait staff, food prepared to perfection, excellent wine selection with an emphasis on Italian wines (of course), over the top desserts, friendly wine and cocktail bar and homemade gelato - the best on this side of Florence with Wisconsin's Dairyland making a contribution.
In the Summer and Fall you can eat outside in downtown Middleton and pretend that you're in Italy.
The setting is trendy casual. No lack of servers or service. Very friendly with a broad Italian focused menu. We had the chicken and pasta special and the mushroom ravioli. Both were excellent. Good wine selection although we weren't drinking. A solid and attractive choice for casual dining.
I've been here before for the gelato (which was actually quite good), but never for dinner. The spacing between tables was a little snug, so I wouldn't recommend for large groups. The music was at a good level and our host was friendly enough.
Both my boyfriend and I ordered pizzas and a side salad.
The side salads were reasonably priced, crisp, and a tasty side to our pizzas. Both of our pizzas were flavored nicely, but were nothing special and rather pricey. My pizza margherita was $18.49. My boyfriend's meat lover role was $18.99; again, good, but nothing almost $20 good.
If you want Naples style pizza, I suggest Pizza Brutta or Novanta. There are dishes looked really good, so perhaps go here to order a pasta dish instead.
Have eaten here many times, mostly for lunch with friends, but, more recently, for dinner too. Have never been disappointed. Can be very noisy if one is seated near a large group of people. Always ask when making the reservation! Food is attractively served, tasty, and, in many cases, healthy. Service is generally very good. They always serve ice water so, if, like me, you don't like ice water, be sure to tell them when you arrive.
We love Villa Dolce and have dined there many times. We were so disappointed this week because of the service. We were seated immediately and the only ones in the place and it took 10-15 minutes to get waited on. After bringing our food and drinks, the waitress never checked back on us to see if we needed anything else. We were planning to order more drinks and dessert. We ended up going to counter after waiting over 30 minutes for our bill. We paid and left and not sure we will return. We love Middleton and the local restaurants, but the service this week was very undesirable.
Enjoyed a lovely meal for my birthday. We each had a mixed drink followed by wine with our entrees. We split a side Caesar salad which was just the right amount for each of us. My husband had The Godfather calzone which he enjoyed immensely. He felt it would have been better if the cheese and meats were distributed more evenly; good Italian flavor though. I had the Butternut Squash Tortelaci which was similar to ravioli stuffed with a mixture of the squash and mascarpone cheese in a sauce of browned butter, sage and Frangelica (hazelnut liqueur). Though I don't care for hazelnuts and could taste the sweetness of the Frangelica, I did not taste any hazelnut flavor. I asked to not have any nut garnish. I'm glad I took a chance because it was delicious! It came with h a soft roll that I used to get every last bit of sauce. My husband had a dessert martini which he compared to a melted chocolate shake. I had the Chocolate Eruption which is chocolate mousse embedded with chunks of vanilla and chocolate cheesecake on a thick brownie-like crust...oh yah! I had a scoop of peanut butter gelato with chocolate to go with. It was amazing! Took half of it home to enjoy the next day. If I had any negative comment it would be that our barrel- style chairs, though comfortable, did not move easily on the floor and were a little too short for the table. Taller people probably would be fine in them.
