It was a Sunday date night for us. The decor in this joint is an art deco through back. We order appetizers. I recommend the escargot. It was cooked perfectly and served in mushrooms for a twist. The full dinner is a bargain. Try it. The calamari dinner was tasty. I'll try the sole or the steak next time for variation. My husband tried the lasagna. It was good, but he will try the steak next time. The staff was very attentive. It was clearly family night on Sunday with many repeat customers.
Super people, excellent food , super price
Villa D'Este used to be our favorite restaurant. The food is still good. Unfortunately, the restaurant has not been maintained during these many years and now it is dirty and in desperate need of new paint. There were lots of cobwebs in the ladies bathroom. Many of the lights in the chandelier were out and not replaced. The place really needs a facelift. The service this last time was absolutely terrible and it wasn't even that crowded. We had to wait a very long time to get each course. We were over charged by a lot and and had to return our bill for an adjustment. We were all very disappointed. I really hope they get their act together so it can be what it once used to be.
The decor is a trip almost worth the visit. Food was ok service was efficient and friendly.
We went to hear our friend sing with her group and really enjoyed the evening.
food is okay, portions very small, thats about it, great ambiance, piano player and singer really add to the atomsphere. Small crowd that night, so they were able to play all the requests for various songs
would go back for a drink or coffee and dessert to listen to the music
Old-style Italian, leisurely dining. Ala carte or 5-courses. Sweetbreads! Reasonable cost.
This is a classic old Italian restaurant. The service is impeccable, the ambiance very nice. The prices are a true value. My only criticism is that my calamari steak was very bland, with just breading, no spices or sauce. We also had the escargot, which was amazing, and the eggplant Parmesan which was very good.
Neighborhood delight. An alternative to fast / quick food . Complete dining experience offering several options. Personal Attention from Owner as well as wait staff.
Server was very attentive and unobtrusive. Food was good. Restaurant was not very busy. We sat there for hours talking and they never tried to shoo us out. I would go back again.
Always a pleasure having dinner and entertainment here.
This was such a fun dinner. The restaurant is a kick back to the 70s (maybe 60s). The food was good, not haute cuisine, but enjoyable. They have a full bar and we were able to enjoy cocktails with our antipasto. The dinning room is also amazing. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The value is the best I've seen in years.
How have I missed this place in the 37 years I've lived in S.F.? This place was super cool old school Italian. The servers were very attentive, the food was reasonably priced, and it was delicious. This is going on our list of places to take friends to.
We were seated promptly. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was delicious. We'll be back.
Go for the decor; stay for the food!
Standard Italian fare (good veal and sweetbreads), ample portions, very good service, easy parking. Check it out!
Great food, great entertainment, great service and all priced right...
What a great dining experiance.
The deco room and bar.
Food was excellent.
I love Villa!!! Friendly Service and excellent food. The owner takes the time to come to your table and say hi himself. Wonderful for a date the piano is the highlight of the evening definitely go on a Friday night!
Been dining there for nearly 30 years and everything has always been perfect.
Last Saturday we took good friends, who had never been. Dinner took just under two hours to arrive. If we had not asked it most likely would have been longer. The crowd was the usual size but for some reason it was am off evening. We had hoped to introduce our friends to a new favorite but I am very doubtful they will return with us.
Always a pleasure dining here. Nice every Friday evening piano and singer entertainment too.
40's decor, older crowd, dinner show first Monday of each month @ $25 for three courses and beverage, no covercharge.
food was good. service was good. But nothing special. the value of the food for the price is outstanding.
we live in the east bay to come all the way to San Francisco to eat here I would not do. if I would live closer I would go back. it is good for casual dining
Normally they are better but its busy Valentine's Day and they weren't able to keep up :(
Went to Feb's Supper Club night to hear Fr. Roger sing. Was pleasantly surprised that the meal was very good, atmosphere nice and location accessible to public transportation. There was a large group that night and it was not easy to hear all the entertainers clearly but what I did hear, I really enjoyed. I would certainly return and hope not to have such a noisy group again.
Old time San Francisco with live music on Fridays. Great service, extremely friendly staff and great value.
The food is so yummy. The atmosphere is classic. The service is wonderful and warm! I can't wait to go back!
Our Server never came once to see of our food was as she was doing other tables !!! She was probably doing the other tables as they must have been there before & wanted there tip to be good as that is what I presume as I used to work in a Restaurant . The Mashed Potatoes & Vegetables were warm instead of being hot as they should have been !!! I went up to the Manager & all he told me that he'll take her but didn't do anything about the bill !!! I hope that next time he'll give me better service !!! Also, being Christmas Day, it would be have been nice to have someone play the Piano as there was one there & not being used !!!
The menu for brunch was uninspired and strange. Chicken park and sautéed potatoes? What? Service was awful. Waited a fun 22 minutes to order coffee and place was nearly empty. Servers seemed depressed and disinterested. Overall blah experience. Cool decor but Enron that's so dated.
the restaurant is a old school restaurant. service food ambiance piano bar with a singer great feel
Owner / Bartender and all his extended family work there
Very friendly good food
Most curious. When I arrived, restaurant empty. The fellow checking me in seemed to
have no idea of a reservation and blanked at Open Table mention. My dining companion
arrived later and we had a nice table in the window. A few other parties came and went.
Service very good; food edible. Place is a throw-back to the 1950s. Exceedingly quiet,
which suited us to be able to chat.
Very nice location.
this is an old school italian place.......
was a lot of fun!
This Italian place is family owned and has been in the neighborhood for years. The interior is very classy for family style Italian food. Also, it has a traditional classic Italian menu for complete dinners--all very reasonably priced.
Great value for meal. I love that I never have to wait for a table. I come here every six months.
We LOVE our Villa d'Este !! Such a great family feeling. Ramon is the best - so attentive and thoughtful. We went to this restaurant years ago and try to make it there at least every other month. They know us by name which makes us feel right at home.
Great service and an INCREDIBLE value!!!
disapointing ........I ordered Filet of Sole Dore and the waitress called it halibut. I called ahead to get direction at 11:45 and nobody answered the phone. When we found the place I mentioned that to the bartender and all he said was "sorry about that." We were offered complimentary champagne and none arrived. I'm sure you have regulars who adore your place but, unfortunately, we will not be back. If we are spending good money we expect good service.
Also, your ladies room was out of paper. I was glad to leave.
First time going on a friday night, and now its not just a piano player but someone singing along. The appropriate lounge singing you'd expect for this 'old school' style restaurant.
Nice, relaxed place for a neighborhood dinner. Good food, friendly staff, excellent service.
Great place to go for an unpretentious, satisfying meal. The grilled sole was excellent.
The waiter here is extremely heartwarming.
