Villa D'Este Ratings and Reviews
food is okay, portions very small, thats about it, great ambiance, piano player and singer really add to the atomsphere. Small crowd that night, so they were able to play all the requests for various songs
would go back for a drink or coffee and dessert to listen to the music
This is a classic old Italian restaurant. The service is impeccable, the ambiance very nice. The prices are a true value. My only criticism is that my calamari steak was very bland, with just breading, no spices or sauce. We also had the escargot, which was amazing, and the eggplant Parmesan which was very good.
This was such a fun dinner. The restaurant is a kick back to the 70s (maybe 60s). The food was good, not haute cuisine, but enjoyable. They have a full bar and we were able to enjoy cocktails with our antipasto. The dinning room is also amazing. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The value is the best I've seen in years.
Been dining there for nearly 30 years and everything has always been perfect.
Last Saturday we took good friends, who had never been. Dinner took just under two hours to arrive. If we had not asked it most likely would have been longer. The crowd was the usual size but for some reason it was am off evening. We had hoped to introduce our friends to a new favorite but I am very doubtful they will return with us.
food was good. service was good. But nothing special. the value of the food for the price is outstanding.
we live in the east bay to come all the way to San Francisco to eat here I would not do. if I would live closer I would go back. it is good for casual dining
Went to Feb's Supper Club night to hear Fr. Roger sing. Was pleasantly surprised that the meal was very good, atmosphere nice and location accessible to public transportation. There was a large group that night and it was not easy to hear all the entertainers clearly but what I did hear, I really enjoyed. I would certainly return and hope not to have such a noisy group again.
Our Server never came once to see of our food was as she was doing other tables !!! She was probably doing the other tables as they must have been there before & wanted there tip to be good as that is what I presume as I used to work in a Restaurant . The Mashed Potatoes & Vegetables were warm instead of being hot as they should have been !!! I went up to the Manager & all he told me that he'll take her but didn't do anything about the bill !!! I hope that next time he'll give me better service !!! Also, being Christmas Day, it would be have been nice to have someone play the Piano as there was one there & not being used !!!
The menu for brunch was uninspired and strange. Chicken park and sautéed potatoes? What? Service was awful. Waited a fun 22 minutes to order coffee and place was nearly empty. Servers seemed depressed and disinterested. Overall blah experience. Cool decor but Enron that's so dated.
Most curious. When I arrived, restaurant empty. The fellow checking me in seemed to
have no idea of a reservation and blanked at Open Table mention. My dining companion
arrived later and we had a nice table in the window. A few other parties came and went.
Service very good; food edible. Place is a throw-back to the 1950s. Exceedingly quiet,
which suited us to be able to chat.
Very nice location.
disapointing ........I ordered Filet of Sole Dore and the waitress called it halibut. I called ahead to get direction at 11:45 and nobody answered the phone. When we found the place I mentioned that to the bartender and all he said was "sorry about that." We were offered complimentary champagne and none arrived. I'm sure you have regulars who adore your place but, unfortunately, we will not be back. If we are spending good money we expect good service.
Also, your ladies room was out of paper. I was glad to leave.
