Came here for a birthday dinner. The staff was great- made me feel very special as the guest of honor. Food was tasty and the drinks were refreshing! They didn’t rush us which allowed for good conversation with good company, which in New York’s fast paced environment can be very hard to find!
WAY TOO NOISEY. NEEDS SOMETHING LIKE HANGING PLANTS TO HELP REDUCE THE NOISE. WOULD GO BACK BUT NOT AGAIN FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION OR A ROMANTIC DINNER BECUASE OF THE NOISE.
As always, the View did not disappoint. It is my favorite go to restaurant. Love the pan seared scallops with lobster risotto and of course the "view".
The service was impeccable , but felt they were overpriced..
It was pretty crowded which according to the staff was not expected. It was a really nice day finally- hence the crowd. The View has a pretty good happy hour. The views on the deck are beautiful.
We ate in the main restaurant which was also busy. My scallops were a little under cooked. My sister-in-law had the seared tuna which was great!
I would recommend the View for its happy hour during the summer months.
I will give the main restaurant another chance considering it is early in the season.
The wait staff was very inexperienced
I had the short rib and my boyfriend had the scallops, both were fantastic. We had the best waitress, Patricia. Perky, happy such a plesant person
They have a great view, but we went and they sat us at the worst table. We asked to move to one closer to the window and they wouldn't move us. There were at least 4-5 available tables for our party of 4 available, yet those were "reserved"? Well we made a reservation as well, so I do not understand nor appreciate that. Also another bad customer service issue we had was when we wanted to order our appetizers and we weren't sure of our dinner choice yet. We were told that the chef prefers that we place the whole order at once. Never heard that before at a restaurant, but it ended up getting our friends really upset and took everyone a long time to finally figure out the order. Really didn't like that as it cost us an extra hour of time and we hungry, wish we could have just had our apps, then order dinner like any normal restaurant allows.
Good food excellent service great location
A little disappointed in where we sat. I asked for window seats and was put by the sushi bar without any view at all. Kale salad was great, chicken dish wa good, and dessert was so so. Cheesecake was a little bland. Lot running back so fast.
We went for our Anniversary which happened to be during LI Restaurant week. Not all tables have "The View" and we were far from it. There was nothing we could do. The place was crowded with large tables who got "The View". I think they shrunk the portions for the LI Restaurant Week, but everything we had, except the cheesecake which was bad, was excellent. The service was very good, but again, I think LI Restaurant Week seemed to dim the enthusiasm of the staff and overall. I think we would go back during the summer for the bar. That looked like it would be a lot of fun.
Food was fantastic, service great,Bar was fun. Jim and his staff were amazing they made us feel welcome. This was my 45th anniversary, can't think of a better place to celebrate. Thanky you Jim
When we were there they had a large party that was inappropriately loud.
Our waitress Shannon was so nice. The food was really good (restaurant week menu) and the dessert was excellent.
Great ambiance and location. Excellent service. Food average. Perhaps as it was restaurant week? Will try again when it’s NOT restaurant week, because The View has a View!
The food was delicious, the wait staff was excellent and very friendly. We never felt rushed. The restaurant has nice alcove areas for larger parties, which we were. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!
Great restaurant. Have had special birthday party there and it was awesome. Been there many times for Christmas Eve and regular dinners It's an awesome place
My wife and I took advantage of Long Island Restaurant Week to get to know another area restaurant that would be a good place to meet friends. View, true to its name, affords diners some excellent views of the Oakdale marina. The food we were served was very good, and the rolls were the best we've had - even outdoing the well-known rolls at Chachama Grill. Service here was impeccable. We will be back.
I love the location and the ambiance....it is a luxurious experience
My date was hungry though and the portion size was less than he was accustomed to - he had the Herb Chicken
The prices at View are a bit steep, so when we saw it was participating in Restaurant Week, we lost no time in making a reservation. We were four people, my husband and I eat only fish and chicken. Several of the appetizers and entrees has meat added to them. The wait staff and chef were extremely accommodating. The salmon was excellent, my sister in law loved the pasta; the only dish that wasn't was the chicken. Dessert was scrumptious. If it were closer, I'd go again to take advantage of Restaurant Week.
The kitchen over cooks the seafood. Salmon was very dry, as was the lobster tails. Everything else was good but not very exciting.
The food was outstanding! And although it was cold we were able to sit by the windows to see the water! Talk about a view at the view! Highly recommended. We went for our anniversary dinner and it was great. Already made my reservations to come again next month!
nice view and great service. Food is okay, but I have to say that we ordered a special and not the regular menu.
The food here was beyond amazing and being able to be right on the water while you are made this experience a win win!
First time there very nice service was excellent food was very good. Will be going back during the warmer months for the water view.
Excellent night out for dinner. Everyone was very accommodating
Perfectly located right on the water with amazing views (hence the name). The service could not have been better, and the food was all very good. This was my second time there, and I would go back again.
Amazing !! Thai popcorn shrimp was the best thing ever !
Food was tasty enough. Portion sizes were adequate, by no means large.
We were really disappointed that for a noon reservation, they were serving dinner. We had expected their usual Sunday brunch. Next time we will be sure to ask. Two apps, 2 dinners, no drinks of any kind-bill was still over $100.00, with tip, over $130.00. As I said, we were expecting and would have preferred brunch.
We wound up going to Viva la Vida for a lite dinner and enjoyed it more.
What a View. Nothing like sitting by the water and dining. Even though we are surrounded by water there are not that many restaurants giving us that opportunity. This is always a great place for happy hour, but we were pleasantly surprised with our dinner.
The View has a pre-fixe dinner till 6 on Friday night, and we were able to partake.
Wonderful choices, and a great deal for $30. We had the Steamed PEI Mussels Marine and the Arugula Salad with beets, and walnut pesto, shrimp and short ribs for a main. Dessert also included to top it off.
Our server Blanca was a pleasure, and the View is lucky to have her. We will be back.
Good food, great service. A bit noisy but overall a great place.
Place was freezing cold. Food was average. Not worth the price as portions small as well.
We have been here multiple times and enjoyed each time. The fish menu is excellent and very fresh and the ambiance is very relaxing even in the winter when the fireplace is on. We look forward to returning again and again
It was appropriate for what we wanted from a romantic dinner.
This was the second time I have received spoiled lobster tasting like ammonia from this restaurant. Most recently I sent the mean back and was given another that was also spoiled because the batch or storage must not have been properly kept. They said that the lobster tail looked fine to them but looking at it will not let you know what I am tasting. I paid and they comped by Diet soda. The waitress was going back and forth between myself , the cook and the manager. None of whom came to speak with me which is unacceptable as I politely explained the problem. Although the ambiance is wonderful the food sanity is terrible and service worse. Never again.
View never disappoints! Food, service and ambience are always on point. The Lessing group really knows how to do it right, evertime!
WE had a great time at The View. We sat by the fireplace on a rainy cold night and it was intimate and outstanding. The service is always good, but tonight was extra special and made my lady's birthday that much the better. The food too is always good, but tonight was extra good. WE split the Thai Calamari and each had the ahi tuna.
I went there a number of times over the past few months. The bar is great for a drink before and after dinner. They have live music on Saturday night. The food is delicious and there's something for everyone. The staff is very nice and the be service is excellent.
We were early for our reservation, but we were seated quickly. Staff and wait service was excellent, as was the ambiance. We enjoyed our dinner. Food and drinks were excellent!
