My parents have been to the View and chose this venue to celebrate my birthday. From start to finish everything was great...from the service to food, the View did not disappoint. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water and a bottle of wine. Both were brought over immediately accompanied with fresh warm bread. For appetizers we had the thai calamari, crab salad and the pappardelle special. Everything was outstanding. Main courses included the steak, black bass, salmon and scallops and every dish looked and tasted fresh and delicious.
Dessert was a grilled pineapple with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and our server brought it over with a candle and kept it as discreet as she could which I appreciated. :)
Definitely highly recommend the view for a date night, special occasion, or any event.
Katie was one of the best servers we’ve had. Open table reservation said it was a birthday. There was hair in our dinner. Katie corrected the problem ASAP. Courtney the manager on duty told Katie to put the desert on the house. Desert came, there was no candle. I approach Courtney in the office as they (her and the hostess) we’re drinking wine and on the cell phone. She explained she was sorry there was nothing in the computer stating that there was a birthday. I then showed her the reservation on my phone and the first line says my fiancé‘s birthday. She apologized and said dessert is on the house. Working in the restaurant business for 10+ years when there is hair in someone’s food at the MOD would check on the table to make sure that everything else is OK. Little did she know we were already getting comped dessert for the hair that was in the food. She said she would take care of it. Came back with champagne. What do I want champagne for? Then went back into her office. We had great service from Katie. Courtney did not handle the situation the way the MOD should have. Had dinner 11/14/17 check #9211.
We didn't really enjoy our meals. They tasted like the were mass produced as if for a catered affair such as a wedding. The salmon I ordered was so dry that I had a difficult time swallowing it and my husband's shrimp were not very fresh. The coffee was very weak and the desserts also tasted like they were from the frozen section at Costco. The best part of our meal were the appetizers the duck
tacos and the butternut squash
soup. There was also a musty odor to the restaurant that was noticeable as soon as we entered the doorway to the restaurant.
We were so happy that our favorite appetizer, PEI Mussels, was back on the menu with the recipe we love! The one with pancetta and shallots in anisette cream. That alone was worth the trip, but the entrees were also amazing. My Honey had the Short Rib of Beef braised in Chianti. It was so flavorful and tender! I had Pappardelle Bolognese which was delcious. The ragu was the real thing, which I don't think I've ever had before. Dessert was also excellent. My Valrhona Chocolate Marquise was rich and yummy. My partner loved his Wild Berry Cheesecake. Restaurant week prices made it all that much a better value.
My only complaint was that when we arrived about 15 minutes early, we were told the dining room was not open yet. They sent us to the bar where all the chairs are too high for me to get into after my recent back surgery. We sat in the entrance area, but when we came back there were many people already seated! I thought this was rude considering it was obvious I walked with a cane and should have been seated right away, or at least been called when the dining room opened. Still, we did not let it spoil our evening.
Although the food & service was excellent, disappointed because I made reservations for dinner during restaurant week but was told they stopped serving that menu at 7 pm & my reservation was for 8:30. That being the earliest opening. I didn't see that time limit on either your website or theirs. Very pricey on their regular menu & not all dinner choices on website were available.
Fantastic server, Blanca, other staff very professional. Beautiful, comfortable atmosphere.
Best of all, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Wish I had taken a picture of the Butternut squash soup and garlic shrimp on risotto. Look forward to another visit!
AS A FORTY YEAR RESTAURANTEUR, I DON'T OFTEN SPEAK IN SUPEARLATIVES ABOUT MANY RESTAURANTS. I ACTUALLY DON'T FREQUENT MOST EATERIES A SECOND TIME. "THE VIEW" IS ONE OF THE BEST AND WILL GET MY BUSINESS TIME AND TIME AGAIN. THE WAITSTAFF IS FRIENDLY, QUITE COMPETENT AND THEY SMILE. AS A CHEF, I CAN SAY THAT THE FOOD IS EXCEPTIONAL, FROM APPETIZERS TO DESSERT. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THE NOISE LEVEL. IT IS QUITE LOUD WHEN BUSY. I'LL LIVE WITH THAT BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE IS TRULY REWARDING.
We went for Restaurant Week, it was great. The Butternut Squash was especially delicious and the waitress assisted us with choosing the perfect wine to our taste and what we were eating. The View is drop dead gorgeous !! We went on a Thursday which was good , not too busy.
We have eaten at the View many times in the past and have always been pleased but this time it exceeded even our highest expectations. The service from our wait staff, Grace and Justin was impeccable and the general manager, Joe Scalise checked on us several times to see if we needed anything.
The food was outstanding. Our party of 5 ordered several different dishes and all were wonderful! I especially recommend the short ribs, they melt in your mouth.
would have rated higher. however, not all appetizers shown on menu appearing on the internet were actually available. same with desserts. For a restaurant known foe its water view, no NOT offer clam chowder is very poor. also. it would seem to me that they might have offered to prepare a serving for me., but they did not.
It was more upscale than I anticipated, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. This is a fantastic location with killer water views. On Long Island, sometimes a place with a great view has very so-so food, but this place stepped up and provided a really nice meal. I would definitely go again.
Greeted by Host James nicely dressed, friendly but professional and very accommodating to our preference for seating near the water. Grace our waitress, very pleasant and attentive without being over bearing during our apps, salad, and entree.... GREAT PLACE and we'll be back soon....
It would be nice, if you carried a larger selection of beer and not just lite beer. Would like to see a choice of lager as well. Highly recommend Cedar roasted Scottish salmon and lobster pasta. Was delicious. The view was outstanding, we were seated outside, dockside 👍
Beautiful view, excellent service I thought the food was ok. I had the Thai Calamari which was excellent. They encrusted it with chopped up peanuts with a sweet and spicy sauce and the portion was generous. That was the best part of the meal however, we had the Salmon which was good but nothing special and the Maine lobster pasta which had very little lobster and just not very good. Not a cheap place so I think I would go back but just get some appetizers and enjoy the view.
overall disappointing on service and food. once food came out after a long wait, waitress was no where to be found. salad was over dressed; what they called Manhattan clam chowder did not have a tomato base and was watery and over salted; crab cakes were just okay; however the cobb salad was fresh and generous. it was the day after labor day so maybe it was just an off day for them.
