Vida Cantina Ratings and Reviews
It was my sons birthday we had a brand new waiter that was not properly trained. My husband and I got a salad with shrimp which was one of the worst looking salads I have ever seen. It had plain lettuce and the shrimp was just boiled with no taste. I never write bad reviews but I was at this restaurant 5 years ago and it was delicious back then!!
I really was so disappointed in the night!!!!
We went out for dinner on a Saturday night--5 girlfriends. Seated at 8pm and place was busy but not packed. Service was slow and we sat outside so it was quite loud. Busy road runs right next to the patio. I had high expectations as this place was recommended by a friend. Food and service were mediocre. Next time we will drive elsewhere to find quality Mexican!
Made reservations 6:30 and hostess told us when setting us that we would have to be done by 8, that she needed our table 8:00 for a large party. WTF!! What restaurant puts their guest on time limits? Then the service was horrible, as I had to ask the busser and the food runner both to get our server to refill my tea and then bring a glass with ice for my tea. Food portion was lacking for the price. And the food when it came out was lukewarm at best. The only thing that was worth the visit would be the chips and salsa. Would not go back or recommend. What a disappointment!
The food was quick but delicious. The chile verde is very spicy, and I loved it. The pork dishes were fantastic, nice pieces of pork and well-braised. The cocktails were great too; as I favor a margarita with Gran Marnier and that was not an option on the menu, I tried the blood orange margarita and I was not disappointed one sip!
Our waiter was also very attentive.
Another great lunch at our favorite Mexican in Charlotte. They do everything well here from the light and crispy chips and good salsa to the warm welcome to the reasonable prices. Definitely a step up from your average Mexican spot. Only downside is dealing with parking, but that's the case for most all Uptown restaurants.
Overall it wasn't a bad experience but I wasn't 'wowed.' We had a reservation and were seated immediately. It wasn't very crowded, but we were there rather late so I wasn't terribly surprised. The server was very polite and attentive. The food was okay. I had the chicken and corn enchiladas but it wasn't anything the write home about. The queso, guacamole, and salsa were delicious though, and you get plenty of it! They also have a great selection of tequilas!
Our family enjoyed dinner at Vida Cantina prior to attending a Neil Diamond concert in Charlotte. The service was unbelievably quick considering the restaurant was PACKED! The food was delicious and the wait staff helpful. It is a wonderful and fun place to enjoy a meal or drinks prior to attending an event at the Spectrum Center. I would recommend you obtain reservations due to the popularity of this venue. A+ on every level!
I've been to Vida Cantina several times before and always had great meals. I took my parents there tonight and everything about the food was wonderful. However, one of the servers spilled almost an entire drink on my dad's lap and while the server was quick to clean it up and apologize no manager ever came over to speak with us, offer to pay for his dry-cleaning, etc. That part was very disappointing and not something I would expect from a restaurant of this level and price point.
Food was excellent. We had tacos and taco salad entrees, both were very tasty. Guacamole, was good & fresh but on the bland side. Salsa and chips were the best I have ever had - salsa was medium spice and finely chopped, chips were freshly made and denser than most.
A very nice place to eat outdoors during warm weather and is perfectly situated for people-watching. The food was very good (the salsa that came out with the chips was amazing!) and our server did well considering that she was also single-handedly serving a table of 12 college-aged men out for what appreared to be a pre-bachelor party meal. The only two things that could have been better were that my mojito was very small and filled with a ton of ice, and that the patio floor needs to be power washed. Still, the location makes up for quite a bit and we will certainly return.
I usually love Vida, but I was disappointed with this recent visit. I ordered the chicken tacos and the quality of the chicken was poor. I never recall a mix of white and dark meat, but there was plenty of dark meat that I picked out. The rice appeared to be overcooked and dry. The queso was okay, but a smaller size should be offered, $7 for a bowl of queso is outrageous. The positive was the service and the salsa, but not much else.
The food is always so fresh and delicious at Vida Cantina. I always ask for Jen W. to serve us as she's the best server I've ever had. She makes our dining experience so much better because she always anticipates our needs. She always has a smile on her face and a "can do" attitude. Thank you, Jen - you rock!! I hope Vida Cantina realizes what a valuable employee she is.
We had lunch on the day of the Charlotte St. Paddy's Day Pub Crawl. Thank goodness the festivities did not start until about a hour later. The service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. The house margaritas hit the spot. The location is very convenient to the Spectrum, the Lynx and the theaters uptown. Really worth a stop if you're craving Mexican food.
Dined at Vida Cantina prior to a concert at Spectrum Center (formerly Time Warner Arena). Seated promptly, drink orders arrived quickly and food was also delivered on a timely basis. Taco salad was tasty, as were the other two entrees. Margaritas were also nice. Great, convenient location for a meal prior to an event across the street at the Spectrum Center. Good access to LYNX light rail.
My wife and I went to Vida Cantina to get a relatively affordable and quick meal before the symphony. the restaurant met our expectations. the service was prompt and friendly; the food was good and well seasoned, if fairly standard Tex Mex fare. The guacamole was excellent. The margaritas were excellent; they did not seem to be made with mix.
