Victors Ratings and Reviews
I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor and chose it to celebrate my 61st birthday with my best friend. The noise level was ideal for conversation with smooth jazz and the soultry sound of Nat King Cole playing in the background. The decor was exquisite with houndstooth and cream, the food was very good and the drinks on point. I was visiting from Georgia and discovered this little gem and my friend who lives in the area, said she definitely will be returning to this hotspot
The ambiance is lovely at Victor's although we changed tables because the initial one was just too dark. The piano playing was lovely. The waiter was attentive and friendly, would highly recommend asking for Maurice. However, on the downside, the time it took to receive our salads was excessive, then again - a loooong wait for our meals. Perhaps there was not enough kitchen staff on hand because of a larger party in a private room? Unfortunately, after the excessive wait, some of the food was overcooked.
The food was delicious but the service was slow, impersonal, and extremely unenthusiastic.
This place has sincere potential. It was obvious it was founded on an actual goal of excellent food with a story and craft service. It was totally lacking in the service portion. Food was excellent but there was no sincerity and an even more embarrassing lack of effort regarding service.
Perfect example- I ordered a signature cocktail and waited over ten minutes for it to be delivered. Rather than an apology I got "The bartender said these were really involved with lots of steps and annoying to make." Then we ordered the charcuterie plate. A different server dropped it off to us and didn't say a word about the options set before us. Our actual server came by twice and never commented on the selections either. These were glaring examples or lack of investment in the service of the place.
We wanted to try Victors to scope out the food for special occasions. We arranged to go with some friends who had been before and were disappointed; this happened several years ago. They wanted to go back to see if the food had improved. We were favorably impressed with the food and the service and the price point of the restaurant. The restaurant was classy but not overly pretentious and the clientele in attendance was very classy and the noise level was very well controlled, so conversation was easy. All in our party thought the food was delicious and well prepared. I particularly appreciated the seasoning balance in all the dishes. The chef did not think over salting the food was synonymous with flavor, as some restaurants in the area seem to think. As long as the food continues to be of the caliber we encountered on our visit, we will keep coming back. Kudos to the piano playing of the charming lady providing the entertainment also. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Our waiter was very good but the initial guy who seated us seemed very confused. We had reservations for two and when we got there, the table hadn't been set up yet (we were late getting, to add). Seemed like it took the host longer than it should've to clean off a table. But after we got seated, all was well. I'd go back again
The food preparation was a big Miss this visit. I'm not sure if the chef was off or left from the Spring time frame. Our appetizer and entrees were over cooked and the oyster apptzr greasy and was over fried. Someone forgot it in the frilator. We will skip it next time. The dessert menu had 3 cheesecake options but no seasonal dessert like apple pie or another option. It was excellent at our prior visit in the Spring. The opposite experience this time. But our waiter Morris was awesome!
We were passing through on business and took a chance on a downtown, more vintage, steak house for dinner. What a wonderful surprise. Great service, nice piano music and excellent food and drink. It is complete, from start to finish, and we recommend it highly.
Gluten and dairy free can be a challenge but nicer restaurants do a pretty good job with compliance and flavor. While the chef did come to the table to ask me about dietary restriction he ended up serving the asian style string bean which had soy (Gluten). The grilled Salmon that I ordered was overcooked and had no flavor. For the price I don't think it was worth it. On a good note the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and was located in a cute boutique hotel. Glad to see this area being revived.
We really enjoyed our dinner in Victor's after long drive from stamford ct, excellent service , great southern food and really nice ambience enhanced by piano player in background . It is also nice to see success of effort to rejuvenate the old town center of Florence .
We were pleasantly surprised at the lovely ambiance. It does not show well in the online photo. Nice bar scene with live piano; yet the dining area adjacent is quiet enough for conversation. Excellent menu and both the filet mignon and sea bass were excellent.
This was my third visit to Victors over the last couple of years. As in the past, the food was excellent and the menu varied. The prices are at the high end for Florence but provided good value. The wine list was very good.
On past visits the restaurant and bar had a real "buzz" that was lacking on this visit, probably because it was a Tuesday night immediatly after Hurricane Mathew.
Will surley visit again and do recommend.
Thank you Governor Haley for ordering a mandatory evacuation for Beaufort. We live 800 feet from the water in Beaufort. We drove to Florence for safety and were lucky to find a place to stay. We made a reservation for Victors and what a GREAT MEAL and nice time we had. The meal was Over the Top. The service was GREAT. And it was nice to have live music. We would have stayed at the Florence Hotel, but due to the evacuation it was booked solid. This is an outstanding restaurant. The 14 oz Ribeye was OUTSTANDING. The Daily Fish special, was also OUTSTANDING. We will come back and stay at the Florence Hotel, and Eat at Victors again. If Governor Haley did not order an evacuation, we would have never eaten or stayed in Florence.
Thank you Governor for looking out for our safety.
The most amazing experience I have ever encountered. Took my daughter to dinner after her college soccer game. We have been there many times. We sat at our table and ordered about 15 minutes after we sat down 8:15pm. We ordered a bottle of wine and got water around the table. After an hour we got bread, one hour and fifteen minutes in we got our appetizers. Dinner came around 9:30. No one offered to fill out water. Our wine was gone and I had to ask the cook that brought out our apps for another bottle. When our food came one of our dishes were missing the side the lady that brought out our food said she would check on it. We never saw her again. We did not see our waitress since our order until she came around and asked if our food was ok. Still no water refills.
Then... It was late, we were sitting by the kitchen, I heard an employee say several choice words gd, f, p. Awful. I just held my breath. We finally getting our bill 10:15pm. I had to ask for that. Still only have seen our server twice. As we are paying the manager walks by our table and out of his mouth comes gd and f word. By then I am boiling. We do not eat chains, we only eat local when we go out. I was just disgusted by the staff and their manager.
Sod thing. The food was just incredible.
Treated my husband to Victors for his birthday and he really enjoyed himself. The atmosphere was romantic, dimly lit, and music filled the air. We were greeted with smiles and our waiter was attentive and very informative when it came to the menu. It was our first time here but definitely not our last.
Food was prepared well, service was quick and friendly. The only negative that I can state is that there were only three sets of diners in the restaurant when we got there and they sat us directly next to another party. A table-space would have been preferred since plenty of tables of the same size were available.
Not what I expected. My companion and I sample different restaurants each week and had heard mixed comments about Victors. Most said it was mediocre and I have to agree. It is suited to the older crowd. The food was good but over priced and my companion felt that the atmosphere was depressing. I'd say this place is good for a mature couple or group looking for a no fuss atmosphere.
