Great food. Fantastic atmosphere as long as your okay with some loud conversation. Fun environment
Very good food, everyone in the restaurant seemed to be having a good time.
Mostly good. Got a feeling that we were being rushed along even though we were not part of the show crowd last evening.
Delicious food, excellent service. This was a really nice way to start our trip to NYC.
Awesome pre show dinner
Excellent , attentive team service and the food, from appetizers to brunch items & entrees, were all tasty & represented great recommendations from our server. We even ordered extra food to take home to VA with us!
The cocktails were good too, very strong.
Beautiful ambiance with the colorful paintings on the walls in the entrance, friendly celebrity photos at the bar & a sunny central dining area with skylights, I suppose.
Overall, a great 5 star rating for the flavors, sound level and price for the food & drinks.
We have dined at Victor's Café almost every year since 2009, but will not be going back. We were present for the jam at the front desk (described by an earlier reviewer), but fortunately got seated. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The service was slow and negligent; drinks took forever to arrive (if they arrived at all: two glasses of wine never made it to the table, though they certainly made it onto the bill). Most disappointing of all, however, was the food, which has declined remarkably over the years. After recommending that a friend join me in one of my old favorites, Victor's "signature" Ropa Viejo, I was embarrassed at what arrived, a small clump of sticky white rice with a tiny iron "kettle" of meat that was, to say the least, unimpressive and a pale shadow of what I'd enjoyed in the past. Hardly a meal for a child. The service was so slow that, having to leave for the theater, we had no time for dessert or coffee. The entire dinner was very disappointing. What was once a high spot in the theater district has become mere "tourist trade" relying entirely upon concept, decoration and past reputation, but without the food or service to make it worthwhile.
The food itself was good, but this place was a disaster logistically. I had a 6 PM reservation and was told they would seat me in a couple of minutes. 30 minutes later I was one of 25 people in the alcove waiting to be seated well past the reservation time. When I went and asked the hostess how much longer it would be, she stroked her ponytail and said “I need a few more minutes.” I reminded her that she had said the exact same thing over half an hour before and that I had a show that I needed to make. She became angry that I pointed out the fact that she had already told me a few minutes. Instead of apologizing the hostess rolled her eyes and refused to interact with me while making facial gestures. Her coworker standing next to her apologized for the wait and her colleague’s attitude, but there I stood nonetheless while she called other people ahead of me to punish me. I finally got the manager and got seated about 40 minutes late. He was polite and apologetic, but all I got for my trouble and almost missing my Broadway show was a tiny order of fried plantains ($8) out of a $200 bill. I will not be going back to this place nor do I recommend anyone to go, unless they are OK waiting to an hour beyond their reservation time and being treated rudely.
A good place to dine in the theater district. Very delicious meat dishes.
Very authentic delicious food.
Victors is a family favorite. Attentive wait staff. Excellent food. We dined on Seafood Paella, baked bass, pulled skirt steak (one of their specials). Adequate portions. Noise level is not a factor and the staff aims to please.
Well worth a meal. Great for pre theatre
Outstanding Cuban food! Had the house special and it was wonderful. Wife enjoyed the fish. Staff was fun and very attentive.
Very attentive staff, friendly greeting and fantastic food. For sure you are in NYC, not Cuba!
Great food and ambiance. Reasonable prices and good tradition Cuban menu. Awesome time.
It was a friend's birthday so my wife and I took him and his wife out - they had never been. We have been many times. The problem was we were not seated until 40 minutes after the original reservation time. The food and drinks were good of course but then it took quite some time for the different courses to come out. And the waiter did not approach the table until quite some time after we were finally seated. Not what I'm accustomed to at Victor's
We requested a table in a particular part of the restaurant that we like, rear room upper level and they honored our request. We had to wait a bit longer for that table but it was worth it. The food was great as was the service. Victors is our favorite restaurant in NYC, a little expensive but worth every dollar.
Date night with a show at 8
First visit and there will be many more The food was excellent Great place pre theater
I just returned from a trip to Cuba and wanted to prolong my vacation. Victors did not disappoint! Menu had what one would expect to find in an upscale Cuban restaurant. Service was helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. Great place to know for pre-theatre dining.
This was our second time at Victors. We went early (5:15 p.m.) because our show started at 7:00 p.m. It gets very loud when it gets crowded and on a Friday night with bad weather it was full by 6 p.m. The food is very good and the service is attentive. Our group enjoyed everything.
Lovely authentic Cuban food but it was too dark and noisy considering I went for a meal with my Mum whilst visiting NY. I imagine it's a great place for a romantic meal though.
The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting. We needed to make a theater time and our waiter accommodated us without missing a beat or making us feel rushed. He was polite, personable and helpful to us with ordering our meals. The food was outstanding. We only wish we could have stayed longer. I recommend the sangria if you're in the mood for a cocktail .
Food was outstanding as well as the service. Totally enjoyed the evening!
Great authentic Cuban meals with outstanding service. You'll love the cocktails too!
Nadie se acordó de mi cumpleaños ni porque estaba en la reservación
I went there with my nine year old son and we both loved it. I haven’t been there in years but it is still a solid and authentic Cuban restaurant that serve delicious food!
Had a great time with my husband. I had told them when reserving date it being my husband’s birthday. They brought back dessert with candle and wished my husband happy birthday.
SUPERB!! Everything we ordered including the red snapper cerviche; salad with hearts of palm, manchego cheese, marcona almonds and champagne vinaigrette; grilled marinated skirt steak; 48 hour roast marinated pork; seasonal market vegetables (pearl onions, roasted peppers, asparagus, and mushrooms), and Tempranillo wine were outstanding. The server patiently answered our questions and the kitchen timed the food perfectly. We all had a delightful experience and look forward to our next meal at Victor's Café.
Birthday dinner for my boyfriend who is very picky and he loved the salmon. It was a great night. The food and drinks were very good. Definitely would recommend and go back.
Very pleased on all fronts.
Salmon was outstanding to top it off.
Love love love! Victors café never disappoints! My husband and I haven’t been in a while but we definitely missed it! Great for any occasion
Great food and service. Everyone very polite. Waiting time was Minimal
AWESOME. I took my son there yesterday before a show. The plantain chips were delicious, the food was exceptional, the drinks were great. Beautiful ambiance..........wow, both my son and I REALLY LOVED this place. Definitely pricey but what can one expect in that area?
The experience would have been much better had the service not been so horrendous.
Victors cafe took Cuban food to a new level for me. The menu was very different which is nice! My son had the roast pork (suckling) and I had the skirt steak that was pulled and crisped served with a Seville sauce and rice with black beans. The look was very plain but the flavour was spectacular! They were able to find a table for us last minute and we were very very happy! We also had the shared appetizer which is big and tasty! The dessert was also delectable, the plating was much more visually appealing than the main. Tre leche cake was lovely and the molten cake with coconut gelato was also yummy. I would definitely go again.
Wonderful food! A little cramped.
Our server was horrible and extremely slow. We had to constantly look for him and call him over to get our drinks, get our food. Appetizers took forever to arrive to the table then a longer wait for food.
What a gem of a restaurant. The food was heavenly and service was just right. Would highly recommend the ensalada de aguacate y berro, lechón asado and ropa vieja. Definitely try either the mojito clásico or the mojito passion. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Staff was very Accommodating, as we were going to a broadway show.
