As always, a fabulous evening at Victor's. I brought a first-time-to -New Yorker here, and she was sold 1000x over! Everything was great, but that guava cobbler dessert is totally other worldly!!!!

Cuban cuisine at it's finest.....

Awesome restaurant everything was mouth watering delicious. I had as an appetizer the chicken soup, which was not on the menu but a daily special, lots of chicken and chunks of chicken in a rich chicken broth, sounds simple chicken with some noodles and yet complex in flavors. What an opener. I then had the house special and traditional Cuban dish the ropa vieja !!! Well all I can say is "wow". I cook a lot and rarely go out and like to think I can copy if not make it better than most restaurants. I am bent and determined to try to make this but the spices used in almost everything here at Victors is very complex and not easy to decipher...I think I figured out two of the spices and I'm gunna go with that but there were others and the dish of the best slow cooked and pulled beef you'll ever have had a very slight sweet hint to it. Gawd it was to die for. Plantain chips were delivered to the table with a salsa dipping sauce, au gratis, our server said it was like going to another restaurant and they serve bread. Man o man were they awesome, thin and very lightly salted. We had a pitcher of red sangria to wash everything down. My partner had aguacate relieno. I heard it was very very good but I never even got a smidgen to try...imagine that. I'll just have to go back and order it myself...LOL. As a main he had the arroz con pollo...a chicken and rice dish....now I did manage to get a few fork fulls of this in to try myself....yummmmm..need I say more....nope, nada !!! This is a must go to again restaurant for me....you should in all honesty not pass this gem up. Been around since 1963 and you'll see just why that's so when you try the food for yourself. Hats off to the management, the chefs and staff that work this restaurant. The restaurant makes you want to go check out Cuba for sure and if not just settle on Victors to take you there through their impeccable service and awesome cuisine !!! Don't say I didn't tell you sooooooo...!!

Fabulous hand-crafted cocktails at the bar...followed by delicious and ample appetizers at our table...then on to main courses so flavorful it is hard to describe...and then dessert...wow all around!

We visited NYC to see a Broadway show and found Victor’s as we searched for a place to eat. We were glad we picked it. Walking distance from out hotel and though we had to settle for an early reservation the food was excellent and the service outstanding! We particularly enjoyed the creative (to us) use of plantains!

The band was quite good, but too loud and overpowering in a small, cramped bar. We were seated within five minutes after arrival and the service was good.

I ordered the paella. Unfortunately, the shrimp was overcooked. The Coconut Mojito was very good. I recommend it. However, the rest of the dish was very good. The restaurant was very crowded and busy and noisy. Our waiter was divided among many tables but he did his best. I like the decor and will probably be back.

We chose ictor's Cafe restaurant soley from the reviews on Open Table. They were SO right! We decided to order one meal feom the price fixe and one a la carte. There was more than enough of the shrimp cerviche appetizer and flan dessert to share. Our entrees, salmon with pineapple salsa and Cuban hamburger were absolutely delicious. The fried plantains and red pepper salsa offered instead of bread is totally addictive. The server, Angelo, was attentive but not annoying. He even asked if we were attending the theater and what was the curtain time to insure we'd get out in enouh time. We sat in the back room - reminiscent of a patio, complete with hanging vines and paddle fans. Simply charming. One minor misstep - please have half and half for the coffee.

Our recent trip to Cuba left us missing the the sights and sounds of that beautiful island. There the the quality of food was uneven but NOT SO at Victor's Cafe. All of the warmth and color of Cuba as well as attentive service (not fast but who cares when you know you are being left to enjoy and not because they forgot you!) a terrific menu and really great food! We went for brunch but ended up ordering lunch entrees that we couldn't say no too.

We have seen many changes throughout our 30 yr patronage at Victors.
But the reason we keep going back is our waiter, Philippe! He is atentative and good hearted. He tries to keep the changes at a minimum for us. Always greets up with open arms and makes us feel like his personal guests!
No place serves black bean soup like Victor’s!
But Philippe is the real reason we make this our first stop in the City!

Love Love Victor's. The Cuban fusion food is wonderful. The wait staff is exceptional. We always come here when we are visiting. Its a great treat to experience something tasty and different that we don't have in New Orleans. All of the people we have brought to Victor's or recommended it to have enjoyed it as well. Both Cubans and non-Cubans!!!

I love Victor's and visit regularly. I was dining with friends and our meal - appetizers, main course and dessert - were delicious. The one problem was the drink. I ordered a Margarita and it clearly did not have a full serving of tequila. The bartender made a weak drink that was also too sweet. I've had Margaritas at Victor's at other times and they were fine. There was clearly a problem with the bar on this particular night. Other than this issue, everything was very good.

Pros: Good food, cocktails and service.
Cons: Felt a little let down as the experience was not as great as other reviews lead me to believe. Our experience wasn't helped by the fact that we had to leave our our coats on as it was so cold. We had to ask twice to have something done about it. We weren't the only ones as I noticed another lady put her coat on too.
