This was one of the best dinners I have ever had in my life! Totally delectable food, impeccable service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I cannot recommend it enough. My mom and I ate here before a Broadway show, and it was the best choice we could have made in the theatre district. My mom has celiac disease and therefore has to eat gluten free, and our server knew immediately how to help her navigate the menu for options that would work for her. (For my fellow gf folks and family members of gf folks, he even knew that soy sauce has gluten in it—that's the level of in-the-know we're talking about!) Our mojitos, summer salad, and entrees were absolutely perfect, and even the bathroom was worth raving about. I can't say enough about Victor's Cafe; we will definitely be back!
Food was good but the tables are so close together that when the waiter served the people next to me who were jammed in a corner, brushed my head a couple of times.
Always a taste sensation. Our service was exceptional, as was the food. Thank you!
Went for restaurant week. Good food, eh service
Was after theatre so late. We had the assortment of classic Cuban appetizers for two, which was excellent. Staff was very polite and attentive.
Pleasant atmosphere very good food and very friendly staff. No wonder my wife and I have been dining here for so many years.
my waiter was great but unfortunately I was cut off as I was walking by a waiter and he didn’t have the decency to apologize and what made it worse was he look right at me with arrogance and simply looked away. Quick class on respect is need for this gentleman.
It was my birthday, which I stated in my reservation. I flu from Miami to NYC and choose this restaurant to celebrate. Even though they new about my Birthday, the reservation was done in advance, and the restaurant wasn’t full at the time, they stuck us in a small table in the middle of the hall. Worst location ever! And also I paid for my happy birthday dessert, which it’s usually cover by any decent restaurant
service was very good and the food for restaurant week.
Victors is our go-to for a great meal before we see a Broadway show.
Outstanding Cuban cuisine! The staff was very helpful in guiding our menu choices to produce the best possible experience. And we were able to get out quickly to make our Broadway show. Memorable experience-thanks!
Amazing dining experience from beginning to end! Great Hostess, wait staff, food everything. I have been several times but I brought three friends who have never been and everyone was blown away by the attention and service we received. It was a packed restaurant and we felt like we were the only ones there by their excellent service and food! Highly recommend!
Delicious meal but side orders are way too expensive. A tinyyyy portion of thinly sliced platanos Maduros for $9.
Post Theater Bday dinner for my wife. We LOVE VICTORS. Sangria is the BEST!
Wait staff excellent as well as food. Staff attentive and friendly. Atmosphere nice
I was first greeted with a happy birthday when I checked in for my reservation. My waiter wished me a happy birthday. The ambiance was lovely, and there was a live trio band that played while I was enjoying my lunch. The waiter placed a candle on my dessert, lit the candle, and wished me a happy birthday again which was very sweet! The food and drinks are amazing! It was a fabulous birthday lunch! I will definitely go back again! I have already told many of my friends when they go to New York City, they should go to Victor's Cafe! I sent them pictures to see how lovely Victor's Cafe is including the interior as well as the food and drinks!
This was my second time at Victor's Cafe... it never disappoints! I wish we had one close to home!!! They are extremely accommodating to vegans. They made me a fabulous veggie plate which was filling and delicious! My fiance is very much an American food guy so I had to beg, plead and do a jig for him to try it. He ordered the ROPA Vieja. His first bite he looked at me with a huge smile and said "omg... wow". The staff was attentive and the atmosphere was very romantic. We finished our meal with coconut gelato and a church sandwich - both were excellent. I think the only turnoff for me was the attitude of the hostess... we got there at 7:15 for our 7:30 reservation (ps. Totally make a reservation on open table). There were plenty of seats open but she made us wait over 15 mins to sit and was a little rude that we were early.
Fun night out with friends
We often go to eat here because it never disappoints!
I went there with my daughter to celebrate her 17th birthday. It could not have been a better experience - the service was prompt and friendly, the band played in the background, and we were seated in a light-filled room with lots of good energy. The food was fabulous, and the waiter timed everything so we had enough time to eat and still made it to our Broadway show in time. Awesome!!!
The branzino was delicious. Service was excellent.
Victor’s is a favorite of ours to have a pre-theater dinner when we’re in NYC!
Every time we are in Mid-town we visit. The food and wine are outstanding.
Sometimes I get the feeling from the servers that they are rushing a bit and not overly anxious for tables that want to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and the music.
Everyone should stop in. It's that good.
Great meal and great service. Thanks friends!
Really nice vibe. Good background music and excellent service. Loved the roast pig. Cuban appetizer for 2 was yum!
We had a guest from London staying with our Cuban friend so we thought we should take him to a Cuban restaurant.
He enjoyed the ambiance, the food, the service and the music. He remarked that the place is “romantic “..
It was to be his despedida dinner before he went back to London.
Food was incredible. I had the “special” fish, but I couldn’t understand the waiter when he said what kind it was. The restaurant decor makes you feel like you’re in Havana, but it’s loud. I’ll go again and again.
Oh my goodness, one of the best meals I've ever had.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was so courteous and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was fun (still classy), and the food was truly amazing. Everything we tried was the best of that specific food we had ever tasted. To top it all off, the servers remembered that I said it was my husband's birthday from my OpenTable reservation and sang him "Happy Birthday". Lovely experience all around.
~What we ordered~
Appetizers: Salpicón de Mariscos and Croquetas Corral
Entrées: Slamón Carnaval and Ropa Vieja
Desserts: Flan de Huevo and Arroz con Leche
Victor's Café is one of favorite restaurants! I would continue going back over and over again!
The restroom was broken and not usable. The air was also not working in the section we were seated.
At the end of the night, the waiter said we stole his pen and didn’t took one of the receipts. Which were all signed but stuck together because of the heat.
Will not be going back.
Great vibe, great food. Highly recommend!
No air conditioning on a 100 degree day and the men’s bathroom was out of order. However, the food was excellent.
Five stars for excellent food, decor, and service/hospitality. I only docked a few because it was the middle of the heat wave and they were struggling to keep the restaurant cool. On any other day this would be a perfect experience.
To say that the food was delicious and service was on point is a understatement. Be sure to make a reservation and be on time - it was Saturday when went. Given the fact it was 110 degrees out and that the air in the back room was not working properly, the staff went above and beyond to address the uncomfortable temperature by putting fans out to make their guests as comfortable as possible. The main course of branzino (was a special$ and pork was cooked perfectly. Food was served nice and hot. You can tell everything is fresh.
So we saw a Broadway matinee of Cher and Victors is so conveniently located next door that we decided to wait out the hoards of folks leaving Penn Station at 5:00 and stay for dinner. Smart move, because our reservation at 4:45 was perfect timing and by 5:30 the restaurant was packed.
Nice AC inside was welcome as the temps rose to 100 degrees outside.
Service was good and, although I wasn’t wowed by the meal, it was very good. I had the chicken served with sweet potatoes and my husband had a beef dish. The watermelon appetizer was refreshing but I think cucumbers instead of tomatoes would have been a better choice as an ingredient, taste texture and color wise.
We would definitely eat here again, as we have been here for lunch a few times and enjoyed it.
Definitely a hidden gem around Time Square. I have been in NYC for many years but didn’t know the place until very recently. Everything is decent. Enough space to sit, nice decoration, band. Noise level is comfortable and makes it easy to catch up with friends. The food is delicate with a reasonable price. Highly recommended!
We were very disappointed by this restaurant as we had booked it for our last meal on our trip to New York.
Firstly our table was out on a limb from the main restaurant area, then we struggled to get our drinks refreshed then to cap it all when we asked where the rest rooms were we were told they were out of action and we would have to leave the restaurant and go next door and use there ones!!!
We felt this was the last straw so paid for our food and left
This restaurant absolutely has the BEST Cuban food in NYC. The food was so delicious, drinks were strong, and the live music was great.
Was quiet then got very crowded and loud. Food was delicious, prices kind of out of range of what we got.
