Vic's on the River
Excellent experience all the way around.
Would definitely recommend
Very good food, yet very loud atmosphere. Great place if you’re having dinner with friends. Vibrant and busy. Our sever was very good. Seating outside would have been better for us dining as a couple because it would have been easier to have conversation and we love dining outside whenever possible.
Lunch is the best at Vic’s!
The shrimp, crab and oyster stew is my favorite dish in all of Savannah.
Arrived, well dressed, punctual and was seated at a very undesirable table. (Adjacent to a service door in continuous use, high traffic) Requested a different table and was seated at a much more pleasant table.) Great service, delicious crab cakes, limited wine selection. )
We ended up being seated at the front by a big group & with all the traffic coming in filing past us. No biscuits until after salads & then there were no plates to put them on. Had to ask for the promised marmalade. Took a long time to get drinks. I think it was just circumstance and maybe just an odd case of many things colliding to make it only so-so for us on this specific night! If I were in Savannah again, I’d give it another shot, but ask for a table further in and have a waitress not quite so focused on a big group. Food did not disappoint!!!
Great seafood and atmosphere. Piano player was an added bonus.
Great place to eat....eaten there quite a few times while attending an annual conference; have never been disappointed.
Food and service were excellent
Although excited to eat at Vic’s for our anniversary with another couple our experience was disappointing. The bar was nice but piano was so loud. We decided to eat outside to take in the nice evening and ended up waiting way too long in between drinks and especially waiting for our food. (Appetizers and main meal.)Two meals came luke warm and it was 9 pm so we took a couple bites and boxed up the rest as we had lost our appetites. Would try again if we were ever back in Savannah as we always give things a second chance and sometimes there is just a bad night. It is in a nice location on the river.
Service was amazing and the manager and sommelier went above and beyond. Our waiter was lovely and on point.
The food? Meh. The restaurant thinks it is better than it is. The Carpaccio was spectacular. The best I have ever had in fact. Everything else was good. Passable even, but not exciting. Not innovative. For the price however. It was good value.
I would go go back. It could even become a weekday regular if we lived here.
Absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our meal so much we may go back again tonight.
We have eaten here many times because of the combination of good seafood, great service and river view. This time my meal was disappointing. I ordered oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer and the chef included a 6th oyster because they were so small - more like clams. I had the grouper special as an entree and although the fish was cooked perfectly, it was tasteless. My husband ordered the scallops and they were wonderful. I'll definitely go back and hope that this experience was atypical. Service was great as usual.
Food and service was great as usual.
Excellent food and service. Great location, rooftop so very nice!!
Loved the ambiance of Vic’s! Great location on the river front (was able to see fireworks on the water from my table). Prices were very reasonable, and food was tasty. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
We were seated outside for lunch which is on Bay St side but you cannot hear the traffic noise which was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter was nice and polite. Be patient because they have some walking to do up and downstairs to provide service for multiple tables. I did ask for a recommendation between two dishes, chose one, but received the other. He offered to fix it, but everyone would be done by the time mine arrived so I kept it. It was a creamy cajun shrimp pasta and was above average for this type of dish elsewhere. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger and it was surely previously frozen by the look and taste, but kids do not know the difference. The check had an incorrect charge for a drink included with the kids meal but was taken care of after 10 minutes or so. Mistakes happen so no problem. Lunch prices were fair and portion sizes were good. Dogs were welcome outside so it worked great for us. I would try something new next time I hit Savannah, but would go back here if I lived in town.
Probably one of the top 3 best steaks we've ever had. Scallops delicious. Sadie was our server and she was phenomenal. Polite and very professional. Nice piano playing bonus for the evening. One and only downside was the constant riff raff in and out of the restaurant. Not sure if it was people just casually passing through or if they had a destination but the incessant traffic took away from the ambience. Will still be returning next time in town. The steak and service are absolutely worth it.
Food mediocre at best but dinner ruined by screaming drunks in the restaurant that management did nothing about even though we complained.
it is a little cramped in the restaurant. The hostess is right in front of you when you step off the elevator, which is bad. They could have her on the first floor and then call your name when your table is ready. That being said, the food was absolutely outstanding as well as the service. It is a busy restaurant, but we never felt rushed. I would highly recommend. Make reservations before your trip as places like this fill up quickly.
Went for Anniversary a Dinner and had reservations to be seated at a regular table We were seated at a high top table in a noisy bar area and finally were moved after insisting. Food took awhile for entree and it was room temperature Not happy about food not being hot I did get 10% off but still was not enjoyable ☹️
WAS my go to place in Savannah...WAS is the key word.
I had requested reservations in advance, and requested seating by a window.
Got to Vics, there were 3 open tables at the windows and available...well not mine not where they sat us!
We started by ordering an appetizer..It only took 45 minutes to get 1 order of Fried Tomatoes. I Escalated the poor service and the long wait to the manager..he said he would look into it, HE never came back!! We proceeded to wait another 10 minutes..and still no entrees. AFTER OVER AN HOUR plus AND NO MEALS, I Went to the manager..who didnt seem to really care when I told him we were leaving..without meals. If I could give a 0 or negative number..this visit would have received it.!!
The rating of 1 is generous!!
A great day in Savannah was planned,Vics screwed that up, after the 1 hour wait and still hungry ..and the day not starting off well..
We ended up at Hueys and had a great meal with great service.
Poor visit at Vics!!
This restaurant was extraordinary, starting with the server and our drinks, and then continuing through our appetizers, the salads, enjoying the flavorful main courses, and the continuous, but unobtrusive outstanding attention we received from our waiter. I cannot recommend this delightful experience any higher! Enjoy an exquisite meal at Vic's in Savannah, you'll be glad you did !!
Great food, service and setting. Really pretty room we were seated overlooking river.
Our meal was expertly prepared and our service was great. The staff was pleasant without making you feel like a tourist. I don’t understand why so many restaurants , in popular destinations , feel a need to make your dining experience part of the whole “vacation “ vibe. After a long day of touring and shopping, Vic’s on the River was a pleasant and delicious end to the day.
We had a friend visiting from CA. She was here on business and staying at the Andaz, so we suggested meeting for dinner at Vic's. As usual, the ambience, service and food were excellent - one of our favorite Savannah restaurants. Rafael was our server and he was professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu with great suggestions. I am currently using a walker and we were easily accommodated. We started with appetizers of Oysters on the Half Shell and Fried Green Tomatoes followed by Caesar and House Salads, with entrees of Scallops, Lamb Shanks, and Beef Short Ribs. For dessert we shared Pecan Pie. Cocktails included Manhattans, Crown & Ginger and a nice California Sauvignon Blanc. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented in a timely manner.
Pretty fancy, food quality was excellent worth the price, drinks expensive, more than $2 for soda water with my $9 glass if wine
Crab Cake appetizer best in city IMO Service truly an extension of southern hospitality
Great food, and amazing location!
We have been eating at this restaurant for 10years. It is located on Bay street and River street with entrances off both streets. The atmosphere is great with views of the Savannah river, the staff is very good and the food is tremendous.
Enjoyed the octopus and fried green tomatoes apps, as well as the shrimp and grits. Very good service.
We had a reservation and were seated on time. Tables close together. A bit noisy. Food good to very good. Service very good.
We had friends visiting from out if town and wanted to take them to a restaurant downtown with good food and great views! We are always happy at Vics' I asked for a window seat and it was waiting for us. The server was polite, answered our questions and served drinks and food in a timely fashion. The mgr stopped by just to say hi. Thanks for the pleasant night!
Excellent food and service. Reservation was right on time. Great choice for a lovely ey.
It was best in class.
We were hesitant to go to Vic's because the hotel concierge seemed to be pushing it, and the hop on hop off tour guides...but we went and it was lovely! We asked for a window table and we were given one, which was great! There was a small balcony you could walk out onto. The service was great! Good price on the wine. And all 4 of us really enjoyed our food! My husband ordered the meatloaf, which was HUGE! Split that if you want it!
Meghan was great! No free mimosas --- but buffet dessert table left a bit to be desired... thanks to all... Lucia & Gerry on our 19th Wedding Anniversary...
Perfect location for a Sunday brunch with old friends in town for a quick visit! The food was delicious and we could actually carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice!
Great birthday dinner with my boyfriend. Our hotel concierge recommended this place. We shared the special and had a few sides and a bottle of wine. Our waiter Dekembe was fantastic and brought me a slice of cake with a candle at the end of the meal which was very nice and unexpected.
Food and service were excellent! Only drawback is the noise level.
