Vic's on the River
It's a nice restaurant but the food was a disappointment. The halibut which was $34 was dry.
Good, but a little pricey. The river view is of the convention center across the river, and the container port upstream; a large paddle-wheel excursion boat was moored in front of us for most of the meal. Food was good, more than enough, but not outstanding. Service was fine. I thought the price was on the high side for the experience, but the location is right in the middle of a touristy district.
Outstanding food. The grilled octopus appetizer was perfect, as were my scallops. My wife's salmon and kale salad were also outstanding. One of the best meals we've ever had. Thanks! I'm glad we sat deeper into the dining room because there was a singer at the piano bar who, although very pleasing, would have been much too loud for dinner.
Our table was waiting for us when we arrived even thought Vic's was crowded so Kudo's for not over booking. The wait staff was very attentive but not to intrusive. My issue was with the meal I had. My wife's shrimp and grits was excellent but my fish not so much. They used a sweet glaze which was to sweet for a fish so delicate as red Snapper. Would have been better, in my opinion without the glaze and without the scoring the flesh to cook faster. Let's go back to a whole fish grilled without the scoring. This keeps the meat moister.
The food was good. It the coffee was awesome!!!! Good service.
Food was delicious and value priced! Will definitely be back again and again.
The food is good. The place is fit for tourists, babies in strollers, patrons in extreme casual dress.
Wonderful place to dine when you are in Savannah. Defy don’t want to miss dining there
We came here on Saturday with our grown son to celebrate his birthday. I made the reservation in the morning and asked for a window table. We git the window table, great food and great service from the bartender who was doubling as our server. Vic’s is always way above average!!
Our only complaint would be that there is no valet parking in the afternoon but the walk was certainly worth it... and also gave us a chance to walk off some of the chocolate mousse cake (so good)!!
We went here on a whim on our first night in Savannah. It was amazing! The fried green tomato appetizer was our favorite. The portions were bigger than we expected. I couldn’t finish my shrimp and grits, but it was very good. Had a martini it was also very good. We will go again when we return to Savannah for another trip.
Rushed, rushed, rushed and noisy, noisy, noisy. This is a terrible restaurant.
Great view, awesome food, friendly staff
We were there for lunch. Top quality for a great price. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal...and history of the building.
Really great service and well-prepared food. Upscale Southern cooking. The Seafood Melange was outstanding. Portions are large. Did a good job with a steak, too. Liked it enough that we're going back for a second visit.
great view, medium service, & food was fine and prepared well, but food temperature varied from warm to not warm at all.
Great views, the live piano adds to the atmosphere
Nice place on
Food OUTSTANDING great atmosphere we enjoyed it. We look forward to going back again and again
My girlfriend and I went there for our 2nd anniversary... There was a 25 minute wait to get a small table in the back section of the restaurant where all of the kitchen and busboy traffic went on... It kinda reminded me of back in the days when black people were separated from the whites... Nevertheless, the goal was to celebrate a meaningful occasion so we made the best of it...
The food at Vic’s is very good but they are challenged in getting it out of the kitchen on a timely basis . Also service levels vary greatly depending on server
Our meals were very good, the service was outstanding and dessert was amazing. I don’t know how they can call the crawfish beignets, beignets. They seem much more empanada than beignet. That said, they were excellent. The she crab soup was phenomenal. My short ribs were excessively fatty, but the portion was large enough that I was able to find more than enough delicious meat. The apple, fig, walnut turnover was quite possibly the best dessert I have ever had. Despite a reservation, we were seated in the bar area next to a door leading to a little outdoor balcony. The noise level was extremely loud, the TVs and near constant stream of guests checking out the balconies were distracting and we had to wait about 20 minutes (8 minutes past our reservation time) to be seated at this table that was empty the whole time we were inside the establishment. All-in-all, we were satisfied and would return again.
Food and location very good. Too noisy to have a business dinner.
First away date and it was enhanced by such great food and an awesome view! We had drinks and started with she-crab soup. We also enjoyed oysters Rockefeller as an app. We shared the lamb shank which was superb!
Our server "Merri" was so gracious and hospitable! We are visiting from Texas and celebrating our anniversary, he offered to take our photo and showed that the balcony door opened and makes for a beautiful photo. Food was delicious! Thanks again!
I was here for a business lunch. The food was delicious- very fresh seafood and salad. The view is also lovely and the overall ambiance.
Best meal we have had in Savannah by far!!
Vacation dinner and all was well but we had an issue as we checked in for our reservation. They couldn’t find it in their system. We were offered to eat at the bar, as “we didn’t have a reservation” even though we booked on OpenTable.
I always make it a point of dining there at least
once when I visit Savannah. The food, service, and ambiance are casually elegant. Love the live piano . River view is nice from the bar and elsewhere in the dining areas.
Great location with wonderful food. I would highly recommend.
This was my second visit. This time with my family. Mary, our waitress, was excellent. She was knowledgeable, friendly, a very nice person.
Had the best experience here. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is outstanding. Can not wait to come back.
We went to Vic's on the River on July 6, a Saturday night. We were recommended to go there by a couple friends. This was kind of our "big night out" for our vacation, dressed up, wanted to have a romantic dinner. They apparently have a wedding reception venue upstairs, and the noise from the wedding was SO DISTRACTING that it really completely ruined our dinner. Then they had live music in the dining room, and I feel that they had it turned up extra loud to try and drown out the booming that was coming from the dance music upstairs. My husband and I could barely even talk to each other. The waitress seemed extremely annoyed when I commented on how loud the music and booming was, like I had no right to be upset about it because it was a wedding reception. For Savannah's standards, we thought the food was mediocre. We come to Savannah for the fabulous food and this was just so-so. I will definitely not return. My cousins ate there when they were in town and they ate lunch there and loved it.
The food was fantastic, however I probably would be hesitant to return because of the service. Or I would want to make sure to ask the manager about the server. She actually had me bus my own dishes when all she had to do was take 3 steps around my chair. I call her “lazy”.
Very good but not superb!
The Shrimp Po-Boy and Shrimp and Grits were out of this world! My boyfriend and I can’t wait to eat here again when we visit Savannah again!
Food and service are always excellent. Had my favs today, crab beignets and the crab, shrimp and oyster soup
I learned about this wonderful restaurant watching travel channel's delicious destinations tv shows. Had to try their totally delicious looking shrimp and grits. Well, I did and they were fabulous. As was their amazing peach trio dessert that included a small bite sized portion of peach cheesecake, a scoop of peach ice cream and ... drum roll ... an adorable and scrumptious square of fried peach bread pudding. Yum! I hope to return!
We had a wonderful experience there. Our meal was excellent. The shrimp and clams were fresh and tasty. We will definitely return if we have the opportunity.
