Vickers Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I thought the food was great, both preparation and menu selections. It's unusual I find a menu that I have trouble deciding between five or six things.service was so-so maybe the waiter was having a bad day.Bartender was great .overall experience was well worth while.
Sadly we were again not impressed with the either the quality of the food or the service. Years ago we visited often but over time the mediocre experience and inflated price sent my wife and I elsewhere for fine dining. We decided to give it another go this past weekend and found that nothing had changed. We won't be back.
Celebrated 25th anniversary with my wife on a Saturday evening in late October. Vickers is a quaint and historic restaurant in Chester County that features fine cuisine in a casual and quiet, but elegant setting. We had drinks in the intimate bar area before dinner. Both the Escargot and Quail appetizers were outstanding. Bison entrée was extremely tender, tasty, and delightful. Apple strudel with vanilla ice cream was the perfect finish. Live piano music throughout the evening was a nice touch. I would highly recommend Vickers for celebrating special occasions.
Disappointing experience this visit. It was very loud because there were way too many people crammed into the same room. Starters were delicious (bisque and chopped salad). Entrees were not great. Steak was served extremely rare, though I requested medium rare. This was corrected, but the filet was just ok. Veal entree was fatty. Service was only fair. Server tried, but he just had too many tables.
An amazing dining experience, our fifth anniversary spent with our daughter and her fiance. The food was beyond description and we enjoyed sharing the appetizers so we could all enjoy the opportunity to taste everything! The proteins were cooked exactly as requested, and we had a wonderful array of flavors in each dish! The mushroom and asparagus appetizer was the favorite, and I loved the beef Wellington. My husband had the venison which was so tender it could be cut with the fork and melted in your mouth. Dessert was prepared tableside and a wonderful way to finish to the evening!
Asparagus and mushroom in puff pastry appetizer was excellent. The tempura lobster appetizer was over cooked. The Caesar Salad for two prepared table side was very well done. My wife’s filet Mignon w/bearnaise was under seasoned but cooked correctly. The truffled potatoes had no flavor. My venison tasted like Salisbury steak in brown gravy. Finally, we split a chocolate cake that tasted mass produced and flavorless. I will say, the wine list was very well rounded. Our waiter, Michael, was the one redeeming quality of our visit. He was excellent!
A very pleasant surprise dining at this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, great food, great service, live music, etc. we had not been for many years - so happy we thought to try again - it is a great place for a special occasion or just eat casual at the bar area - we enjoyed very much.
Quite enjoyable! Everything was delish & service was excellent-responsive, but not intrusive. I had a Moscow Mule which was particularly good & exactly as I requested it. My desire to be away from the air con was accommodated which made me much more comfortable.
My wife and I love this place. It is quiet, in the country and hearkens back to a more gentile time. They do table top food preparation -- Caesar salad, steak Dianne and the classic table side deserts such as cherries jubilee. The wine list is reasonable. They have great cocktails. The service is very friendly. We try to go at least three times a year and would go more often if it were closer to us. On weekends there is a very good pianist.
My husband and I went to Vickers for our anniversary dinner. We ordered a Caesar salad that was prepared table-side but when served, the lettuce was swimming in dressing and wilted quickly. I ordered the lobster tail with lobster ravioli. The server alerted me the that tails were small. That was OK with me as I was looking forward to the combination. The tails were over cooked, dry, and had a charred taste, and there was way, way too much sauce (buerr blanc) on the whole dish making it unappetizing and inedible. The server never returned to ask how our dinner was. I should have ordered the salmon as my husband's was delicious. Needless to say, the service and the ambiance of the restaurant was superb.
The last time we dined at Vickers was probably 15-20 years ago. Often times a restaurant can change over time. Well, Vickers improved with age! Authentic historic tavern ambience, delicious entrées - we had the escargots - probably the best I've ever eaten, Steak Diane and Beef Wellington. The flavors were excellent, presentation beautiful and cooked to perfection. We will definitely return and not wait for 15 or 30 years. The meal is a bit pricey, but worth it and super for any special occasion.
