While the menu and reviews I read prior to our dinner were positive, we were disappointed by a number of factors; 1 - 2 rooms were unavailable fir seating due to an event the next day (which were rooms I requested when booking and was not advised prior that they weren’t available ). 2 - the music (before the piano player started) was very dated, like Glenn Miller dated. This worsened the ambiance since we were now sitting in a stuffy room designed for an elderly crowd.
Our main courses were ok, but not great. Sides were average. Drinks, Caesar salad and desserts were good however.
Reviews said it was quiet, but we could easily hear the bar crowd the entire time.
Fine dining at its best. Love the attention to detail. A memorable evening!
Excellent meal in an "old-inn" setting. Piano music in the background. Very enjoyable.
Always a stalwart in the area. The whole experience is as good as the food.
The appetizers were great especially the lobster crispy
We were there for mother's day and it was very nice. Our server was a little overwhelmed with all his tables so we had to wait a while to place drink orders and appetizer orders. The food was excellent and to be there with our elderly parents, the room was quiet enough that we could all talk. Lovely time.
They do not understand gluten problems. Waiter assured us that he and chief guarantees the food was gluten free, it was not, got very sick.
Manager was very indifferent to our complaints.
We had not been to Vickers in years, and were very pleasantly surprised to find that it was still a lovely, historic restaurant with excellent food and service. We went for our anniversary, and will definitely go back again before our next!
The owner, the waiter and the waitress were all extremely cordial. The food was excellent and hot.
Disappointed with split charges for appetizer $4 and salad $5. Dine out several times per week and was surprised by such surcharges. Food, quality and service were great, but surcharges annoying, particularly not informed in advance.
Always a wonderful experience !!
As always at Vickers, our experience on Easter Sunday was extraordinary. Vickers Tavern never fails to provide a truly fine dining experiences.
Absolutely wonderful experience, looking forward to a return visit. Food was great.
Pros; historic place; well appointed
impersonal, stodgy service. No
energy or excitement.
Limited Menu with little imagination.
Nearly everything had mushrooms.
I had specifically noted that we were celebrating a 90th and a 65th birthdays. Not one word of acknowledgement or a happy birthday even. The restaurant was empty...so a little attention was warranted.
For the prices charged, Vickers was disappointing. I will not dine there again.
This is a lovely restaurant to visit when you are looking for a special, delicious, old world feeling type of dignified eating establishment. No tavern food here.
The best dining experience in Chester County and one of the best overall foodie enjoyments anywhere!
We had not been to Vickers for several years. Our experience was excellent. Friendly reception, very good service for a busy Saturday night & excellent food. We will return soon.
Excellent dinner with my family. Delicious food, great hosts, awesome ambiance. Music was very relaxing as well.
We had great meals in the past but that was not the case on Friday,. We ordered fish and the portion were small and tasteless, very disappointed.
Service was also very slow. Don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon.
The VICKERS is an excellent choice for any type of dining from casual tables in the bar area to white linen dining in the Main Dining Room. The food is diverse and cooked to perfection.. here are many tableside preparation options if desired. I highly recommend hat you give the VICKERS a try. You will not regret it.
Great atmosphere, food and service. One of our favorites.
Haven’t been dining here for a while. It definitely has been better than the last time, but it still has ways to go. The veal medallion tastes like veal, but the not medallions- they more like scallopini... same with staek Diane. Lobster appetizer was very good and lobster bisque as well.
Loved it. Great time for dinner
Will return 😎
PERFECT, AS USUAL. VICKERS is always the perfect place for dinner, cocktails, appetizers - whatever. Go and enjoy!
We enjoyed immensely our appetizers and our bison entrée. The attentive, amicable, and courteous service only enhanced our meal.
Will be going back in the near future!
We had dinner on a Saturday evening. The service was very slow and the food was only warm. My fish was just above room temp. I would have returned it but frankly I didn't want to wait that much longer.
Our first time there. Just beautiful setting. Special valentines menu. Filet and lobster ravioli. Server was excellent Ms. Vicky. Also the manager was super. We went to last seating so had less crowded dining room. Only issue food was warm not really hot but delicious. A bit pricey our bill was 200 dollars but on non holiday weekend might be cheaper. Definitely going again but maybe earlier.
Our first time at Vickers...a great experience! The food is fantastic as well as the presentation.
Our service was also excellent!
I highly recommend Vickers for your next night out or special occasion!
Felt rushed for our Valentine's Dinner package. Noise level high.
The Piano playing in the bar made for a great yet light experience. Paired with great food, a beautiful wife and great service we will definitely be back. Plus our waitress (went to culinary school and name started with a K? Im sorry, terrible with names) was so nice and humored us looking at pictures of cakes my wife made. Another great experience.
The meal was very well prepared, and the service was really great, however everything came out so quickly....we felt kind of rushed. Dinner was over—including dessert—in an hour even.
Nice and quiet but with a friendly bar scene if that is what you desire.
Vickers is a great place for a quiet dinner, a low-key happy hour with friends or to pass the time out on the outdoor patio.
Our second special day dinner. Wish we had tried this place sooner. Food, service, and atmosphere, great. This will be our go to place for special occasions.
Very nice atmosphere, good service and food was good
We went for Valentine’s Day and the food was incredible. There was a prix fixe menu and it had a lot of choices for an incredible value. It was very romantic and cozy. Will definitely go back again!
For a lovely, intimate and formal evening, we always choose Vickers for a memorable experience.
Server-Anthony-was very abrupt and was clearly trying to get the table turned over. Fortunately we’ve enjoyed Vickers before or we would not return again.
Vickers has it all for a fantastic night out. From a great bar; extensive happy hour food or the best dinning experience in Chester county and beyond. The setting and ambiance add to the overall elegance.
