About ViceVersa

If there are any two young people who have had the experience it takes to open their own restaurant, these two are it - - and their coming together reads like a story. Franco Lazzari and Stefano Terzi originally met each in the early 90’s while working in New York. At ViceVersa, Franco and Stefano, unveiled their vision for a contemporary Italian restaurant, combining the traditions of their own cultural background with the youth and energy of their years, and the sophistication and experience of their time in major New York City restaurants.

The casoncelli are amazing. I always love bringing people here for the first time an s seeing their expression when they bite into them.

The Italian dishes and desserts are very good here. The seafood is well prepared. I was thee with my sister in law for a late dinner and we were surprised to see that a small wedding reception was in progress in the main dining room. However, we were not annoyed at all, to the contrary ; we enjoyed watching and applauded the young couple.

We always look forward to returning to Vice Versa and the warm welcome from Franco. We have been coming here for about 18 years. But this visit was our first time for brunch. The only problem with the menu is that there were so many tempting items it was difficult to decide. Each of us chose a different item and each of us found each item excellent. Vice Versa has changed over the years but it is the best it has ever been. It is our go to spot before evening theatre. It will now be our go to spot before weekend matinees.

The food is excellent from antipasto through dessert. Arancini and stuffed olives are a must try delight. The pasta is fresh and the smaller portion option is just right to pair with an antipasto or a salad. Noise level can get very lively and tables, particularly along the wall are closely spaced. Not conducive to intimate conversation but a very nice pre-theater or after work option. Every night of the week there’s a lively bar crowd enjoying cocktails and antipasto

This is a place for foodies. Creative menu and very high quality preparation. Not a real fancy decor but very friendly atmosphere and service was quite good. Prices are a good value considering the location.

Always wonderful, VV is an evergreen with dishes I return to again and again. Even so, there are new items regularly on the many to tempt a “regular”. Perfect for pre-theater or a lovely evening out.

The crispy green olives (stuffed with tiny meatballs, lightly battered and fried) and the pumpkin ravioli were delicious, and the prompt & solicitous service meant a very enjoyable meal that still got us on our way well in time for our theater curtain.

I went here once a few years ago and couldn't wait to go back when I was in town for work! There was a large tour group in the restaurant at the same time, but we still had a great meal, and attentive service.

I got introduced to this restaurant by an old college friend - I really owe him! This is my idea of a pretty perfect restaurant. Tucked away inconspicuously just west of Eighth Avenue, past a much noisier Italian restaurant, Vice Versa offers a superior dining experience without a superior tab. Beautifully appointed interior with real tablecloths, comfortable booth seating if you're lucky/early enough to snag one (or you can dine in the back garden in fine weather, if you prefer); reasonable noise level even when full, thanks to all that fabric and upholstery; attentive but unobtrusive and professional service; and terrific menu options for the non-meat-eater, particularly for those who worship at the altar of pasta fatte a casa. I'm particularly appreciative of their "small plate" option, though it's not so small! I enjoyed a generous helping of pappardelle ai funghi ($15!), in which even the bites that didn't contain a mushroom nonetheless offered deep mushroom flavor. A small pasta dish, following the very nice appetizer special ($18 for lobster tail with blue potatoes, roasted red peppers, and mayo) and their yummy basket of bread and ciabatta, will leave you replete. But make room for their pasty chef's signature molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and pastry feuilletons ($10). Beautifully executed, perfect marriage of flavors and textures. Washed it all down with a glass of prosecco rose. The total bill for my meal came to $56.

Our recent experience was very good . We have dined at Vice Versa at least 5 times before. We brought new friends this time and it was everything we told them about. From the appetizers through the entrée was excellent as expected.

First time at Vice Versa and it was excellent.
The pasta is out of this world - freshly made and delicious.
Great across the board.
And our server, Peter, was wonderful...knowledgeable, helpful and charming.
Definitely will be back.

We ate at Vice Versa prior to attending Kinky Boots. The Casoncelli Alla Bergamasca was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The service was great and the waiter very helpful and a great conversationalist. We totally enjoyed our experience and would go back the next time we are in New York city.

This was my second visit. The atmosphere is lovely, the service excellent, and they manage to keep the music moderate, although I would prefer no music (does anyone have the courage to do away with it? it doesn't add anything and still elevates the noise level.) Compared to my first visit for brunch, this dinner was disappointing. It is an Italian restaurant granted, but the menu is overwhelmed with pasta, and under supplied with real meat and seafood entrees. I ordered the scallops and received three tiny scallops garnished with salad for $30. A vegetable cost $10 in addition! Chef take note: we come to dinner hungry and don't want to spend our whole week's food budget. Will try them once more, hoping the portions improve.

We had dinner before going to the theatre. Excellent homemade pastas, great wine list and service was friendly and attentive. They served delicious cookie bites with our coffees. Our waiter was mindful of our 7pm curtain time. Short walk to all Broadway theatres.

We had a great pre-theatre meal on Tuesday night. We arrived about 10 minutes early for our 5pm reservation. The restaurant was accommodating and went ahead and took us to our table even though they don't open for dinner until 5:00. Once we were seated, the waiter confirmed that we had a 7pm curtain time. The service was friendly and very efficient. The food was wonderful. My 12-year old is obsessed with arancini and had to sample ViceVersa's version. She thought it was perfection. I had the sauteed calamari and artichokes and it was delicious. My husband had the gazpacho, which he said was fresh and tasty. I had the scallops for dinner. It was light and flavorful - I loved the watercress. My husband had the squid ink pasta. My daughter had the strozzapreti. They offered the pasta dishes in a small and large portion - the small was just perfect for her and the large was just right for my husband. Because the service was so efficient (but not rushed), we had time for dessert before heading to the theatre. All in all, a great dining experience and I would dine here again before going to the theatre.

Enjoyed meeting friends here after they had gone to a Saturday matinee. So we had an early reservation, which I recommend, because I think we got the best table in the place. Attentive wait staff, great cocktails. Everyone enjoyed their food. Lemon cake was a bit heavy, but tasty. We sat for quite a while-over two hours- and never felt rushed.

I am not a big fan of Italian food outside of Italy - for me, it just doesn't compare. But this restaurant was a very pleasant surprise - a lot of menu items are not the typical NY Italian fare. Food was really good. My husband loved the oxtail pasta; the octopus appetizer was excellent. Sitting in the lovely back yard was nice despite the loud noise of air conditioners. The service was top notch.
We will be back.
