About ViceVersa

If there are any two young people who have had the experience it takes to open their own restaurant, these two are it - - and their coming together reads like a story. Franco Lazzari and Stefano Terzi originally met each in the early 90’s while working in New York. At ViceVersa, Franco and Stefano, unveiled their vision for a contemporary Italian restaurant, combining the traditions of their own cultural background with the youth and energy of their years, and the sophistication and experience of their time in major New York City restaurants.

This is a very good, moderately priced, did I say moderately priced, YES, NYC Italian restaurant. Not too small but not large. Great lighting. Excellent feel. Very close to Broadway theaters. Friendly staff. Very good food and wines. Loved it. A great NYC option.

First time here - food was very good and staff was very attentive. A nice twist on traditional Italian recipes -- familiar and very tasty but not the same typical menu items you often find in other places. Nice ambiance and was packed on a Wednesday evening. I'd return again and recommend to others.

Wonderful food and service. Every single bite was divine! Such a great pre/post theater choice. Close enough yet away from the fray. Delicious!

Always a great meal!
We came here pre-theater last time we were in NY and we again had a great meal this time! The food is superb; gracious wait-staff... a great find for pre or post theater or for any fine dining !
Love this place!

We had a wonderful time. Do not get to NY often but have always planned on dinner here. Long time current ownership. Consistently good. Octopus appetizer excellent. Two half portions of pasta and split a veal main. All excellent. Cocktails perfectly made (Rusty Nail). Christmas decorations beautiful. We have told our friends over the years and they have enjoyed as much as we do! Surprise pistachio flan desert in honor of our anniversary was superb. Thanks much !

A true neighborhood gem. Lovely spot, great food, and staff that truly is happy to have you there. Home made pasta and fresh seafood served beautifully. Location also good for pre-theatre. An instant favorite.

Went for a pre-theater meal with two good friends. Although the restaurant was extremely noisy, the food was outstanding and we all enjoyed it very much. We each had the prix fixe menu. Three courses, appetizer, entree and dessert. I had the eggplant, which was delicious, we each had the salmon, which was outstanding. Service was very attentive. I would definitely recommend.

This is really a neighborhood gem. We are here probably 13 years ago. It was excellent then and excellent now. The food and service were great. My husband has several dietary restrictions and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The waiter even made suggestions on how to alter his dish and it was delicious. I had the veal ravioli with amaretti cookies which was spectacular. The cookie box is not to be missed! Thanks Vice Versa for a wonderful anniversary dinner.

Lovely ambiance; really terrific pre-theatre dinner because it's a great location and it's great food at a solid price. Terrific service too! Have been here many times. It's my go-to place for business lunch or pre-theatre.

A great pre-show dinner spot on the west side! The restaurant called to confirm our reservation and they specifically asked if our show was starting at 7:30 or 8. We arrived early and the staff showed us to our table and did not mind when we took our time before ordering our dinner. Great selection of Italian wines and a knowledgeable staff regarding pairings. Delicious homemade pastas are a feature and are available in appetizer sizes and we loved taking advantage of the option. Dinner was outstanding and again, staff did not hurry us. The bill arrived with optimal time to walk to the theater following a great meal and a terrific experience.

The Italian dishes and desserts are very good here. The seafood is well prepared. I was thee with my sister in law for a late dinner and we were surprised to see that a small wedding reception was in progress in the main dining room. However, we were not annoyed at all, to the contrary ; we enjoyed watching and applauded the young couple.

We always look forward to returning to Vice Versa and the warm welcome from Franco. We have been coming here for about 18 years. But this visit was our first time for brunch. The only problem with the menu is that there were so many tempting items it was difficult to decide. Each of us chose a different item and each of us found each item excellent. Vice Versa has changed over the years but it is the best it has ever been. It is our go to spot before evening theatre. It will now be our go to spot before weekend matinees.

The food is excellent from antipasto through dessert. Arancini and stuffed olives are a must try delight. The pasta is fresh and the smaller portion option is just right to pair with an antipasto or a salad. Noise level can get very lively and tables, particularly along the wall are closely spaced. Not conducive to intimate conversation but a very nice pre-theater or after work option. Every night of the week there’s a lively bar crowd enjoying cocktails and antipasto

This is a place for foodies. Creative menu and very high quality preparation. Not a real fancy decor but very friendly atmosphere and service was quite good. Prices are a good value considering the location.

Always wonderful, VV is an evergreen with dishes I return to again and again. Even so, there are new items regularly on the many to tempt a “regular”. Perfect for pre-theater or a lovely evening out.

The crispy green olives (stuffed with tiny meatballs, lightly battered and fried) and the pumpkin ravioli were delicious, and the prompt & solicitous service meant a very enjoyable meal that still got us on our way well in time for our theater curtain.

I went here once a few years ago and couldn't wait to go back when I was in town for work! There was a large tour group in the restaurant at the same time, but we still had a great meal, and attentive service.

I got introduced to this restaurant by an old college friend - I really owe him! This is my idea of a pretty perfect restaurant. Tucked away inconspicuously just west of Eighth Avenue, past a much noisier Italian restaurant, Vice Versa offers a superior dining experience without a superior tab. Beautifully appointed interior with real tablecloths, comfortable booth seating if you're lucky/early enough to snag one (or you can dine in the back garden in fine weather, if you prefer); reasonable noise level even when full, thanks to all that fabric and upholstery; attentive but unobtrusive and professional service; and terrific menu options for the non-meat-eater, particularly for those who worship at the altar of pasta fatte a casa. I'm particularly appreciative of their "small plate" option, though it's not so small! I enjoyed a generous helping of pappardelle ai funghi ($15!), in which even the bites that didn't contain a mushroom nonetheless offered deep mushroom flavor. A small pasta dish, following the very nice appetizer special ($18 for lobster tail with blue potatoes, roasted red peppers, and mayo) and their yummy basket of bread and ciabatta, will leave you replete. But make room for their pasty chef's signature molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and pastry feuilletons ($10). Beautifully executed, perfect marriage of flavors and textures. Washed it all down with a glass of prosecco rose. The total bill for my meal came to $56.
