The servers didn't seem to know the drinks and menu well. What they recommended was precisely fit the description of what I did NOT want.
Like most restaurants today, Viale was too noise. No sound absorbing surfaces on floor, four walls or ceiling. When the place filled up I had to shout at my companions to make myself heard. Fortunately it was time to leave for the theater.
The dining experience was excellent and I would go back when it was quiet, but I would not go back to Viale at a time when it was busy. It's just too noisy for a place where you're paying $30 or more for an entre.
It was a lovely place with great food and easy to fit and catch up with friends! W I would absolutely recommend!
The bites, entrees, and drinks were great. The desserts seemed to not be nearly as well thought out. We ordered two at the table and both of them went mostly untouched.
The food was excellent. Really interesting and tasty pasta dish, chestnut agnolotti. There was a duck breast special that was yummy. The appetizers were also really good. This is my go to restaurant.
Food was overly heavy on cheese. (Salad and flatbread).
Oysters were decent. Thanks
Great food and service! Not too noisy but cool atmosphere.
Outstanding. Not to miss!!
Please rotate your menu. For those of us who come to the restaurant regularly, we need some menu changes.
great local place, wonderful food and service--this is our favorite
Viale menu is limited and the food is good but nothing that would keep you away but not worthy of a brag
Great food at a affordable price. Service was a bit lackluster, but that's probably due to a slow Sunday afternoon seating.
Good food and atmosphere, but portions were way too small. In addition, things that one expects with an expensive meal (like bread at the beginning) was there, but the servers carried a basket around and you had to ask for bread whenever you wanted a single piece. It felt like they were stingy with the bread and with all the food. Food was very tasty but far from a satisfying portion.
The food was outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this place!
Limited vegetarian options, but tasty
The menu is not overwhelming in terms of volume (which I consider a plus; I'd rather choose from three or five things I really would like to try than 16, which just adds noise to the menu and selection process), but is diverse enough for most tastes. The food is very well prepared (the steak was beautifully seared and served, though the delicious monkfish was a bit skimpy and served on an overdressed romaine and bean salad that, I thought, was not well described in the menu. The roasted corn and mushroom flatbread pizza was beautifully done as well - simple but fresh and delicious.
The service (at least on this occasion) was really really good, as we had a professional but friendly server who really knew his stuff. And the drinks - perhaps the winner in terms of inventiveness - were as great as ever. (I had the "Bad Barista," which was a n excellent rum-based recipe.)
The food at Viale was very good, especially the grilled octopus. We dined there during Restaurant Week and so had the prix fixe menu which was a very good value. We tried one of the cocktails - though I don't think it was too successful! Adding orange bitters to a gin martini gave it a weird sweetness which was not welcome!! Overall though, a good experience .
The chicken and gnocci were stunning.
They make the BEST roasted chicken I have ever had. I am not exaggerating. It’s been on their menu since they opened and they can’t take it off because it is so damn popular.
This is a great neighborhood gem. Owners work their butts off every day, and they make regulars feel like family. Solid food all around but that roasted chicken.... yummy!!
Food was ok. Fairly salty across the board. We liked the fried cauliflower. The octopus was ok, though slightly chewy. Meatballs were very tender. Our entrees, monkfish, shellfish pasta, and steak were all mediocre. Desserts were good.
The food was excellent but we thought the wine was overpriced. The waitress was reasonably attentive but it was hard to get her attention when we needed her. It was a nice evening out but not exceptional. Still, I would go back.
As always a great experience
Waitress delivered all the food to the wrong people. Which is kinda annoying because there must be some way they remember that
We went during Restaurant week, nice to be offered the full menu. Great 3 courses, all different. Recommend the bluefish, and olive oil cake.
Good food and service with elegant relaxed atmosphere.
Food and atmosphere were perfect to enjoy a delicious meal, drinks, and good company. My only complaint is that the server was trying to rush us when we were trying to enjoy our wine and talk. Happened more than once and there were other open tables.
The chilled corn soup was extraordinary – light, smooth, with a fantastic combination of flavors
One of the best places to eat in Boston! Everything on the menu is superb
the $1 oysters were very fresh and served perfectly. The entree of bluefish was cooked to perfection. Waiter was great. All the mixed drinks were done very professionally. I'm going back soon. My new go to place for fresh well prepared food!!
The portions were perfect. I got the gnocchi with the caramelized onions, kale, cheese and sauce - it was fantastic. My boyfriend got the chicken, which was a generous portion and he enjoyed it. We got the $1 oysters (pretty good) and fried cauliflower (that plus the sauce it was in was delicious!). I got a castle island beer on tap, it was great. Our waitress was also wonderful, very sweet and attentive.
I didnt love the decor (specifically, the chairs) but the overall ambiance was nice. We had a great time, would recommend to anyone looking for well-prepared, good quality food in the mid range price.
Just ok service.
Fantastic meal and wonderful service.
Food was too salty; felt pretty overpriced for quality
I love taking business meeting here. Also a great option for people with dietary restrictions.
Fourth of July
Delicious dinner attentive staff
Great choice before going to Central Square Theater. Very good food and service. The shaved Brussels Sprout salad was excellent and perfect for two to share.
Viale is a great choice when you are in Central Square. A friend of mine introduced me to it, and we were meeting there to catch up with one another. When my friend was delayed, she called the restaurant to let me know and the hostess came right over to let me know. Steve, our server, was attentive while I waited. When we then had to hustle a bit to get in dinner before I had to leave, Steve made sure everything was fine. The food was excellent, as always. We'll be back!
