This is the second time I've gone to Viale. The food was great both times. A mix of italian inspired dishes with what feels slightly more local flavors. Atmosphere is quite nice. There is a liveliness to the dining room that feels very congenial. Not quiet or somber or overly romantic, instead a bit noisy(in a pleasant, freeing way) and encouraging of staying for a while, arguing and chatting loudly and energetically over silly things and good food. When I went a couple years ago I believe we stayed for hours, drinking whisky after our meal. Anyways good food and a good time.
Great service, great food! Tables are packed closely together so other dinners are practically right on top of each other. Surprisingly noisy.
The chicken and duck selections were excellent. The beef was a bit tough. We would go there again. Liked the lighted trees on Central showing through the glass atrium. Servers were attentive.
I love Viale. Having only been here for dinner, I wanted to check out the brunch. Just as good, if not better! Service is always friendly and super quick. Great prices for what you get. Starting to become my favorite spot in Central sq...
food and service superb--very comfortable as well--parking can be a hassle
Delicious and creative dishes, wonderful staff and generous portions. Will be back!
The ambience was fine and the waiter was attentive although we had to ask for bread I ordered smoked duck had no flavor at all
We tried the new menu. I loved the lobster pasta. My husband didn’t enjoy his chicken. He said the smoke taste was an overpowering flavor. We missed the sea bass and duck pasta. We’ll be back.
Went for lunch during a weekday, so was relatively quiet and good for conversation. Service was good. Food was good, though slightly overpriced. I would love to make it one day to check out their oyster happy hour.
Tasty, fresh made food. With seasonal menus, there will always be something that's will tickle your pallate
Absolutely awesome... from the food to the service, everything was just ridiculously good!
Viale is a local gem, with wonderful service and consistent, terrific food. The oysters are a treat.
There was a little something for everyone here. Good, solid food experience. My colleague got pizza and I got a salad and split an app. More than enough food for lunch. Not a "wow" experience but a solid lunch option if you want to sit down to a simple, uncomplicated meal.
The food and service at Viale is always good. If I have a complaint is that the there is a limited range to the flavor profile of the dishes. The aromas in the restaurant ever change and all the dishes have a similar flavor.
Viale’s dishes are North End comparable!
Best of Boston indeed.
Amazing amazing service and super fast! Food was wonderful too!
5-7 pm $1 oysters at the bar were fantastic - together with cocktails and very pleasant service
Damn fine dinner! Excellent oysters. The duck was even better!
A 20% gratuity was added to the bill. I think that was a bit pushy and would have gladly paid the usual 15% tip.
This is my go to spot in Central Square! Reliably GREAT food - have never had a bad meal there. Excellent pairings with wine and beer. Great portions. Delicious! Can't recommend it enough.
4.5...great all-around experience. Everything we ordered was delicious. My wife and I are looking forward to coming back.
The food was OUTSTANDING
The menu is ever changing
The ingredients fresh
The pasta superb
The Rice balls for an appetizer were to die for- seriously
The staff- professional and courteous
We went in as a group of three hosting a cousin from California.
The space is one big square room with hard walls and floor and a high ceiling so the noise is a little high. We sat along the wall though where we could hear each other. Helps that there are no TVs or music.
We weren't in a hurry, and the service matched that. Our waiter was available but not always present so we didn't feel rushed.
We started with drinks. The house drink list is really interesting, as is the beer and wine list. I had a "Social Smoker" which was a really deep burbon and liquor drink - loved it!
My wife and I shared an Arugula Salad, a Calamari "Ceasar" small plate and a gluten free lobster pasta dish. The salad was fantastic - fresh, large, not too much cheese. The Calamari was beautifully cooked and presented with cherry tomatoes and watercress. Not sure why it's a Caesar, but it was tender and tasty. The pasta was a little too al dente, but quite tasty. Our cousin had it with the wheat pasta and that was a bit better - richer, better balanced. With the gluten free pasta, it was a little light.
The three of us shared a lemon custard for dessert and we all enjoyed it - very fresh, rich custard, nice amount.
I plan to go back.
We were visiting from Nova Scotia and were looking for an interesting and innovative place to dine. Viale did not disappoint ! The menu was creative and delicious. We enjoyed an exceptionally good bottle of wine, which was served by one of the owners, Mark. Very nice touch. We really enjoyed our conversation with him during the evening. Highlights of the meal were the fried cauliflower, and the potato gnocchi with wild boar. They were absolutely delicious. The service was very attentive and it was great to see Mark performing the wine service and helping to get food to tables. Our waiter was very good, too. The entire service team, including the hostess worked so well together to ensure that guests were taken care of well. A wonderful evening overall !
Outstanding food! Everything we ordered: the apps, entrees, and the dessert was wonderful. Fun vibe and interesting menu. We found Viale on the recommendation of a friend, and were not let down! Would definitely return.
Excellent food and service! Would definitely recommend.
Love this restaurant!! Great service and delicious food. All five of us thought our meal was the best. Can’t wait to return!
Interesting brunch menu, though we ended up with one excellent choice (Gnocchi bolognese) and one that needed a little help (risotto - surely not bad, but a bit on the ordinary side). Shawna behind the bar prepares some killer cocktails. Their bread is freshly baked and delicious. Have been for dinner as well, where the restaurant does even better.
Great experience! Amazing food!
This was our third visit to Viale and again it didn't disappoint. I had the sea bass, my husband had the sirloin, they were both spectacular, perfectly done and delicious. On a previous visit we had the crab toast and the arancini rice balls as appetizers as well as the zucchini salad and all were terrific. We also had the chicken special that day which our friends raved about. They do a great job here on the mixed drinks also.
We will be back :)
We had s lovely meal for my birthday. We had great vegetable starters and then fish. Drinks were lovely. Low key neighborhood place but attentive service.
We had a very good meal at Vialé on a Friday night - opting for two of the daily specials (lamb, and a mushroom "carbonara" pasta dish). Both were delicious and well presented - and the service was excellent.
Met friend for lunch and it was the perfect choice - we both loved our food choices, which were delicious, inventive, and super-fresh. Our server was helpful and never intrusive, knew the menu well. I loved the ambience - we could carry on a conversation in a relaxed & relaxing environment. Oh, and dessert was fabulous!
Very enjoyable. Food was excellent! Wonderful atmosphere!
great value, fantastic gluten free options, wonderful contemporary Italian with great cocktails
The food was good. The service was attentive. We all enjoyed it.
We were in the neighborhood and gave it a try based on its reviews. Our server was Michael and he was great. We loved everything.
The waitress at Viale was the worst we have ever had in a restaurant. She was rude and disrespectful. Honestly, she should not work with people, as she has no social skills.
I love Viale! It's right down the street from my office in Central Square and I have done many CareDash power lunches here. They make fantastic toothy pasta. My favorites are the seafood/saffron fettuchini, and the shortrib gnocchi (and I'm not normally a big gnocchi person).
We really liked the food (pizzas, pastas, the calamari salad) and service, but it's WAY too loud in there for us 50 and 60somethings who wanted to talk (as did everyone else in the restaurant) and hear each other. I don't know why restaurants don't use more noise absorbent materials in construction (said the 65 year old woman)...
