Viaggio Ristorante and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
First time here and we were impressed. A warm welcome and good service throughout the meal always makes for a better evening. Well made cocktails and I was offered a taste of wine by the glass before ordering. Meatballs are really good! Very nice selection of specials including risotto and a sea bass. Coffee was a little weak for my taste but no other complaints.
Just an okay Italian restaurant. Pasta overcooked with massive amounts of heavy sauce. Nothing new and exciting about the menu. In my opinion, they value quantity over quality. The tables are crowded together and the noise from all the conversations is overwhelming.
Won’t be back and can’t recommend.
Always looking for a new place to go. Stumbled across Viaggio's when looking for a place to meet my daughter and new son-inlaw for dinner when they returned from their honeymoon. Wanted go to somewhere casual and quiet, but nice. What a wonderful place. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server did not rush us through anything, which was good because we wanted to hear all about the honeymoon. The oil for the bread was the best I've every had, very light and flavorful. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband ordered the brick chicken. We would go back just for these two delicious menu choices. We are not big on dessert, so we asked about the lemoncello. Our server advised that they make it in house, so we ordered it. It was the best lemoncello ever and it was perfect to top off a fabulous meal. We will be back.
What an amazing find! We went there for my wife’s birthday and met her parents. One of the best meals, ambience, restaurants in the city! A neighborhood gem and wonderful service. We all talked about how wonderful the food and service was that night. They brought us tiramisu for my wife and it was one of the best we have all ever tried. Going to bring my parents next. A great place and a Chicago staple. One of our newest favorite restaurants in the city!!!!
The food here is always amazing! Everyone must try it! This time our only big problem is the group next to us were drunk and howling literally. We couldn’t hear ourselves and we were only 2 feet away from each other.
It ruined the dinner and we hurried to finish to go to another place for a drink and actually chat.
Phenomenal food - veal picante delicious; as was 8-finger pasta in vodka sauce. Just enough salad pre-meal (not too heavy) and the lentil soup was great. And ... let's not forget unbelievable bread and green/red peppers slathered on top - wow!
Service was also excellent!
Continues to be superb at all levels. .!
This our choice of restaurant before we journey to the United Center for a Bulls game.
They had a risotto special with lobster meat and lobster sauce that was overwhelmingly delicious..! If it's available, don't hesitate..!
It's noisy but that's because a lot of people eat here..!
I love this place, I have been multiple time and the food is always great. Love the brick chicken. Last night was the most uncomfortable meal! The temps in Chicago have been in the 90's and Viaggio either didn't have their air conditioning on or it wasn't working correct, we never got a straight answer. The had over head fans but if you weren't seated below on it didn't do much good. I looked around and saw a lot of red faces and others fanning themselves.
I enjoyed my meal but I couldn't get out of the restaurant fast enough. We usually have an after dinner drink and or dessert but not last night.
I have dined at Viaggio now three times. I enjoy their dishes very much but do agree with a previous review about too much butter/fat in their sauces. The service from those who bus the tables is excellent; your bread and sautéed green peppers arrive immediately, water glasses are never left unattended and dirty plates cleared right away. However, all three times I have dined there, the waitperson seemed rushed; moving from one table to the next so quickly it leaves you to feel unrelaxed and like you're not the focus; just another table that needs attending. For example, recently our menus were left on our table all through eating our appetizers because our waitperson was so busy keeping things moving along with all of the other tables I think s/he forgot we hadn't yet ordered our entrees. The other small downside is that the tables are too close to one another, making seating and exiting a challenge without disturbing diners nearby. Portions are generous and the owner does make a point to visit each table. I appreciate the fact the staff made the time to sing Happy Birthday to our daughter and bring a beautiful slice of tiramisu.
Service was excellent. Our server Julie was great. I believe it was the owner or maybe the manager came by our table and welcomed us and made sure we had no concerns and were enjoying ourselves. Great place to go if you are looking for a place to eat prior to an event at the United Center. Our food was very good but the desserts were great! Make sure to save room.
Shrimp Dakota probably the best appetizer I ever had. Entrees are large and can be shared. Service is friendly and attentive. Owner on premises and always makes you feel at home. I live in the northern suburbs and brave the traffic for this place. Be careful when you go. The place is jammed before Bulls and Hawks games.
first time we went to Viaggio when there was no game. There was four of us and the other
3 liked the food alot. I thought it was very buttery. The meatball salad was very good.
Also, they pour a good drink, which is a nice change for that area.
Its a comfortable restaurant, the tables are not stacked next to each other.
Would definitely recommend if going to a game ,or just in the area.
