Viaggio Ristorante and Lounge
An authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of Chicago's lively West Loop neighborhood
We offer an elegant and charming dining experience that keeps guests coming back again and again. Our large menu of regional Italian pastas, meats and fishes is rounded out by a selection of salads, soups, and decadent desserts. Popular staples like Rigatoni with Braised Pork Gravy and Eggplant Parmesan are served alongside Executive Chef Nicolas Biscaglio’s signature interpretations of classic Italian dishes. We use only the highest quality ingredients to ensure a deliciously memorable experience!
As a hospitality-driven establishment, it’s our goal to make every guest that walks through the door feel like family. At Viaggio, we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy!
Excellent food and service. The traffic is manageable for the West Loop. Very very great overall experience!
Went on a Saturday night (9-14-19), I had the veal Parmesan and it came with tortellini Alfredo, which were so big and good. Fried calamari and mussels for appetizers, also good; especially the sauce on the mussels. They bring out peppers and a nice Italian loaf for the table. They gave us limoncello shots. It was my birthday so they brought out a very rich chocolate cheesecake with a candle in it. I shared with my table and they all liked it. Food came out quickly, never left waiting, waters were always filled, and the timing was perfect. I’d go back.
The welcome was great from an older man at the door (maybe the owner?) and we were quickly seated. The place was packed and very noisy, but it was to be expected. The food was delicious the only draw back was I didn’t know much about the different pastas and our waitress wasn’t much help. She was very busy and never asked if we had questions or if we had been there before, could help us with anything, etc. I would go back. Prices were good and portions plenty
We loved our service and the hospitality! Delicious pasta, specials and wine! Our favorite in the west loop! <3
We live in the West Loop neighborhood and have countless dining options, but Viaggio is our favorite, go-to place for the best Italian cuisine, great service, and a warm welcome that always makes us feel like family.
You can’t go wrong with their menu which is well-executed all around, whether you’re in the mood for pasta, seafood (if the Sea Bass is offered as a special get it!), steak, etc.
Dishes we order regularly include Chicken or Veal Milanese, Angel Hair Pasta Arrabiata with Shrimp, and Chicken Marsala. If you’re a Calamari fan, while the menu’s standard lightly breaded deep fried version is very tasty, try the off-menu “Old School Calamari,” which is pan fried with peppers and onions in tomato sauce — delicious!
The only downside to Viaggio’s excellence is that everyone knows about them now and they are always busy! Love this place.
Was able to sit outside on a beautiful Chicago night. Had the sea bass for dinner and it was excellent. My friend had the limon chicken. Also yummy. Will go back
A true neighborhood gem! We love it every time we come here! Highly recommend!
Dinner for 7 was excellent! Food, atmosphere and staff were wonderful! Highly recommended
The best of old school red sauce.
A native of Rhode Island, live in Boston, I know and love old school red sauce. Not fancy, good garlic and great food. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Stunning, loads of food and bonus came with great pasta.
Service was excellent!
Great place to go in Chicago if you want old school Italian food.
And the cappuccino perfect, of course.
Great food and service! I haven't found anything on the menu that I don't like. Sausage and peppers appetizer is a must have.
Great food. Easy to find parking. Can also do the Valet.
The best Italian food with a really authentic Italian atmosphere. Love this place!
The service was really amazing! We went there for a birthday celebration and the staff was lovely. Highly recommend the chicken and their homemade pasta dish.
First let me say the food and service was really good. However we were seated right next to a table full of really loud group who got louder with more alcohol. At first it was amusing but after a while it got really annoying (seemed like a shouting contest...lol) and detracted from what could have been an awesome experience. What was disappointing was that the server got into the act and encouraged the group to get even louder. Take this as a suggestion. It’s one thing to be hospitable but need to be mindful of the other guests.
Food is always awesome. Service is generally very good ... until it gets a bit busy. Then, expectedly, it becomes hit-and-miss. It tends to be a bit loud most times we've been here due to the close seating and acoustics. Last visit was very unpleasant due to a table of guests that were not only loud, but vulgar. Dropping "F" bombs everywhere. We notified the management/owners. They did NOTHING. It put a real damper on our evening. Maaaybe we'll go back. Not sure if it's still worth the 45 min drive to get there. Oh well. I'm sure there are other Italian restaurants in Chicago that are willing to ensure a pleasant dining experience for ALL guests that have awesome food to boot. Maybe. Just saying.
I love coming here, it’s my go to when I’m craving a classic Italian meal with the hospitality that makes you feel you’re at someone’s Nonna’s house. The specials are always to die and the classics are also amazing, you can’t go wrong coming here.
We really had a great time at Viaggio. The food was delicious. I had the bolognese which was a huge serving and delicious. My friend had the lasagna. It was a little dry but good. The service was so-so. Our waittress was very friendly but seemed extremely distracted. We were going to order the brueshetta but by the time she came to take our order (after we had been sitting there for quite some time) we decided to skip it. We were going to get more red sauce for the lasagna but couldn't get her attention so did without. It took forever for her to bring us the check so we could settle the bill. All in all, it was a good restaurant, the host was extremely gracious but service by waitstaff could have been better.
Food was great. Was disappointed that it was for our anniversary and they didn’t acknowledge it. They wanted to put us at a small table in three kiddlenof the restaurant and declined the table: then put us outside which was fine. Overall the food is always good. Just disappointed in the service.
Food was amazing but the ambiance and noise was a little to loud
One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. We've been there numerous times and always feel like family. Great salmon, pasta, meatball salad and wonderful service. Of course, we will be back.
Great food and attentive service. Sunday gravy reminds me of my Nonna's!
We loved this restaurant! One of the girls in our group was celebrating her birthday, and the staff was so sweet about it. Thanks for a great dinner before our concert!
Waitress was great and checked with us on a regular basis. Food was outstanding!
Made reservations with them because they were near the United Center before a concert. Glad we did! Excellent meal for all 3 of us. I came an hour earlier than our reservation and they were able to get us seated immediately! Was very busy. Very loud (not an issue for us). Highly recommend! (I had the sea bass special, very good).
Amazing as always. Brought friends who never have been. They loved it
Excellent. Excellent. Excellent.
Best before any event at United Center
We are from Boston and picked the Viaggio Ristorante to eat before the Queen concert at the United Center. The food and service were excellent. We also enjoyed meeting the owner. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant. We wouldI highly recommend it.
Excellent food and service. Particularly liked the sweet peppers that were served w/ bread an olive before we even ordered. It's the little things.
We arrived on a beautiful day and the front windows were open. Unfortunately, we were seated in the back of the restaurant and it was a bit close there. The lovely breeze didn't make it back that far. But the service and the food were outstanding. The pasta melts in your mouth!
Went before Streisand concert. Best meatball salad. Excellent service! Love it there.
Everythkng was excellent
Wr spilled a glass of water and they cleaned up immediately.
Food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
The food and our waiter were great. But when the server spilled hot wine sauce from the mussels all over my 87 year old fathers arm and pants, with little more than an opps, I was annoyed. But it was only one guy out of several so we let it go. But I was surprised that more wasn’t done. Latter I figured he never told the waiter.
We go here once or twice a month, and plan to keep going. Truly their mussels (on the plate) and calamari are fantastic. I had the sea bass with cappers and lemon and loved it. All six in our party enjoyed their meals immensely.
Julie our server was awesome, the food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!
We came with our families to Viaggio’s for lunch right after we got married. Dave is a very gracious owner. His staff is so friendly. We had a phenomenal time; and it is now among our favourite Italian restaurants. The best thing on the menu is the brick chicken. It’s the best chicken I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The meatball salad is top notch. The Chilean sea bass is top notch. And so is the bolognese. I highly recommend this place and will keep coming here again and again.
Food. Amazing. Mussels & Brick Chicken so worth it. Outstanding. Service great. Dave the owner is a helluva guy.
The best service and best food. A neighborhood favorite for us. You always feel like a part of the family here.
Great food. Excellent service
We ate outside and it was less noisy than inside. Highly recommend, can’t wait to go back for the arrabiata sauce.
