Viaggio Ristorante and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
This was old school Italian in the best way. The risotto was outstanding and other dishes also excellent. Service was attentive and friendly. The owner stopped at tables to make sure everything was well. We ate there before an event at the UC and we would do it again.
This restaurant is bustling on a Friday night! We had our reservation for 8pm but arrived a little early, and the host sat us immediately, which I never expected based on how busy they were. We greatly appreciated it. I would recommend this restaurant based on the quality of service. Our waiter was very attentive, our courses timed well and even though they were busy, we never felt rushed. The wine and cocktail lists had many nice choices. I just wish the food had a bit more flavor. I tried one of the specialty pastas, and it was just ok. However, I liked this restaurant enough that I will retun and try a new dish.
Stopped in before the Queen concert - walking distance to United Center.
Really good authentic Italian food. A little noisy but that added to the vibe. Not for hard of hearing folks. Wait person was exceptional, she seemed to have a lot of tables but was well able to handle the load - attentive without being intrusive.
Wine list had an excellent Barbaresco, my favorite Italian wine so I am a bit biased - there was an excellent Barola on there too. Not overpriced for a City restaurant.
I had mussels to start and the special lobster ravioli. Finished it all - really good.
Great food and great service
Love this place
You can dine outside or sit inside near the open doors and feel like your out side
Fun place as long as there are no kids around
Kids are noisy
Doesn't happen too often but this past visit there was a group with kids
Loud ,crying and screams
It's hard to enjoy a meal with that in your ear
food was decent but not memorable. Overpriced for what it is. Service was good but slow. Our server was very good and friendly however she appeared to have too many tables. Ambiance was ok but missing something-just not sure what. We don't regret trying Viaggio, but with so many options in the City, this is not a place we are likely to try again.
on a scale of 1 to 10 we rate our selections as follows:
Meatball Salad 8
caprese Salad 6
rigatoni w/ Sunday Gravy 7.5
orecchiette w/ Sausage. 7
Noisy, bustling Italian restaurant with excellent food. The veal chop with garlic mashed potatoes was huge and delicious. The pastas are cooked to perfection. The male waiters are knowledgeable and efficient. The meatball salad is a standout with spicy meatballs that are light and delicious!
Would highly recommend for a good, basic Italian meal.
We saw Viaggio on a Utube video so we tried it when visiting Chicago from San Francisco. Excellent food and wine. We had the burrata stuffed with black truffles for an appetizer, eggplant parmesean, pasta with sausage and escarole, the fish special, and veal scaloppine. Everything was very high quality and very good. Topped off with a nice Italian wine and the key lime cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert. Highly recommend the treck out of downtown for this restaurant.
What a great find! I took a group of work people with me and everyone loved the food and service. The brick chicken was hands down the best I have had (and I have had a lot). All the pasta dishes were spot on. Good, but not extensive wine list. You can't go wrong with Italian wine selection.
Amazing restaurant with service like no other. Just went there today and was made to feel like I was the most special customer they have ever had. Unparalleled service, inexpensive, and high quality food like their chicken parm. I HIGHLY recommend this place for everyday, a date, or a business meal! Check it out!
We had a great time. The front was open so there was a great breeze. Food was all excellent. Meatball salad and grilled calamari ( not on menu) were very good starters. Entrees were chicken lemone, chicken marsala, chicken Milanese and spaghetti bolognese... all excellent.
