Very good food and wine. Interesting menu, we enjoyed it for our Valentine's Day dinner!
Don’t waste your time or money! Went this past Saturday and the service was absolutely horrible. I researched this restaurant’s website and didn’t have the wines as listed nor entree or dessert. Very misleading! I could have let that go perhaps but the service was so bad I felt compelled to leave this review. We even had to ask for our bill repeatedly and he didn’t even bring a pen to sign, had to use my own ... very poor!!
Food was great as usual but the restaurant Seemed a bit understaffed for a Friday night
We were sat at our table, waited ten minutes and had to ask if we were going to get served. Service was poor thru out our dinner with our party having to ask for bread, then butter , then oil, then balsamic then water, then refills, etc., etc,,,,,,,The food was great. But the five of us in our party were very unhappy with our dinner service experience . No attention was given to have the dinner be enjoyed from the start to the end.
Excellent food with opportunity to order from their menu or neighboring Sugo's (same management).
Recently, my brother and sis-in-law who are big, high-end St. Louis "foodies," chose Via Vino for my birthday dinner. Now it is my favorite restaurant! They knew it would be perfect, given my expectations. The tasteful, luxurious decor with a touch of glamor is something I appreciate when done as well as it is at Via Vino. The oversized, crystalized art of Marilyn Monroe is striking and unique. Still, like every restaurant, it is all about the selection and cuisine.
I love to invite friends and business associates there. After all, one of the best things about the dining experience is the thrill of introducing others to a phenomenal "new" restaurant find.
One of my guests had just returned from Italy. I myself have been to Florence. So we engaged in a great conversation about how mouthwatering the food is there; truly some of the best in the world.
Via Vino exceeds every expectation magnificently. Besides the intimate ambiance, there is a diverse selection. For example, if you like, you can also view the menu from the restaurant next door, and vice-versa, since they are jointly owned, and order from the other menu should you desire. That is culinary brilliance!
Paramount to all else is the preparation. In fact, many ingredients are organic and locally grown. My guest and I concurred, ultimately Via Vino's cuisine is not just reminiscent of our dining experiences in Italy, but genuinely authentic to the memories we had each savored from our travel experiences.
Exemplary of high style ambiance, classically excellent service, very reasonable prices, especially given other restaurants in the Ladue/Plaza Frontenac area, plus a superb selection (two menus to choose while at one table) of unforgettable dishes, will make this a soon to be well-known dining secret among some of the most stylish and discerning individuals around. Whether you have dined around the world or not, you will greatly appreciate the authenticity of Via Vino's exquisite excellence.
Service was horrible.
We made a reservation for a birthday celebration. We both had the house salad. The salad was good and the dressing very tasty, but too much dressing made the salad a bid soggy. I had the ravioli special (crab and scallop) which was delicious. The cream sauce was amazing. I had to bring some of it home as I could not finish it and it lasted me for two more lunches. My husband had the veal scaloppine and they were very good too. The wine choices are good. The atmosphere very nice, except this night there were some very loud women at the bar. I was disappointment that the occasion (birthday) was not acknowledged as many restaurants now would offer a small dessert to the birthday guest.
The food and service was great and the noise level good.
Great service, cozy atmosphere on a cold night. Had the Corvina (fish) and it was spectacular.
Our evening was a lovely experience! We are a group of ladies who dine out monthly and this was our November choice!
Horrible service. Bad part is when you look at old reviews (from 3 years ago) on other websites they have been having the same issue of poor service.
This is one of our favorites places to dine when family and friends come to town. Everyone loved their food and service is great. Del Pietro has great restaurants!!!
Consistently good food and pleasant atmosphere...although it is noisy. Great neighborhood spot.
Appetizer forgotten served after entree long wait for dessert disappointing
The restaurant added $67 pre-calculated tip to $260 food bill.
Awesome meal! Staff was amazingly attentive and took great care to insure a wonderful evening with friends!
This was our second visit to the restaurant. We ordered items from the Via Vino menu and from the Sugo's menu. A little bit refined and a little bit rustic. Went with three other couples and enjoyed ourselves. I like the vibe of the restaurant in that it's classy, but not stuffy, and doesn't feel like you are sitting down to a formal meal.
Our waitress Hanna was Amazing a asset to the restaurant. She was attentive informative and professional. The food was an experience that reminded me of our trip to Tuscany, fresh original and full of flavor.
This was our first time here , we are looking forward to the next
Restaurant opens at 5 and we arrived a little before that. It was our first visit and we weren't sure where the entrance was as it seemed to be part of a frontage that blended in with another restaurant, "Sugo". As it turns out, they share the kitchen.
Our server, Wade, was excellent, informative and attentive without being obsequious. We inquired about the other restaurant and he told us about the kitchen situation and brought us the menu from Sugo which we were able to order from in addition to theirs.
We were a party of three. One ordered the Ariabatta from the Sugo menu. From their menu, one ordered the chicken Scaloppine and the other one of the specials, the fish which was oven roasted Corvina. The first two were very good with the Corvina being outstanding.
Overall a very pleasant experience with a return visit certain.
The food was excellent, the service attentive but not overly so, and the decor sophisticated and elegant. Wonderful meal all around!
Delicious dinner. Healthy choices. Server did not object to my substituting a different vegetable. We sat outdoors. Service was great. I love this restaurant. Great atmosphere.
Awesome as always
Good just average ... every bottle of wine I wanted to order they were out of? 3 choices and I gave up.
The waitress was amazing .... first class
Our sevice was excellent Called ahead to request an outside table because of great weather
They were accommodating and we had a very nice atmosphere with good service
The food was very good and once the music for Sugo's died down it was a pleasant experience
Would recommend that for outdoor dining the music does not need to reach Vio Vino
Yes, I would recommend this restaurant to friends and we will return
Really enjoyed our dinner. Was our first time and will definitely be back. We had the lobster risotto and shrimp risotto. Easy dish to screw up, difficult to make it perfect. They nailed it. Was incredibly delicious. Service was terrific. Allowed us to finish each course before bringing out the next. Which you think would be a simple concept but many places don't follow. All in all was a great dining experience.
Food was similar but slightly different than their sister restaurant Sugo. Tasted very good and for the price an excellent value.
Ehhh. Strip mall restaurant. Nothing to bring me back. In from Chicago and I would say go to sister restaurant next door, Sugo. Looks like much more fun. Service just wanted us to go home rather than ask if we wanted anything else.
Great food and wine list. Best pasta in town, (from Sugos). Excellent service. Via Vino has a quiet ambiance that works great for conversations. Highly recommended.
Initially a little off-putting, as you enter the restaurant by walking through the sister restaurant next door. We had to hunt down the hostess when we arrived, and she seemed put-out that we were there... very strange. Once seated, service was ok but fortunately the food was excellent so it ended up bring a reasonably pleasant experience.
We have eaten here multiple times and have always had a decent to good experience however this was not one of those times. The service was phenomenal from the server we had. He was truly exceptional. However that's where exceptional ended as the bread came out burnt that they brought at the beginning of the meal. The appetizers that we had which for the artichoke and the cheese plate were both good. Our entrées didn't all come out at once and the two chicken entrées were very tough as though they were either overcooked or just sat under the heat lamp too long after being cooked. You actually needed a steak knife to cut chicken medallions with. Then to end our meal the sister restaurant next-door that's connected via an open doorway abruptly closed and the lights were turned off as if to give us a hint to leave at 10 PM at night from dinner.
Our reservation was pushed to sister restaurant SUGOS because double booked. Our customers wondered why we didn't have clout when we booked a week in advance. Embarrassed in front of customers. Not good for local based company.
Consistently good food and value. One of our favorite spots to dine.
Service was very slow and inattentive. My tip reflected that.
Our first entree was unsatisfactory, but they brought a second one that was very good.
The portion sizes were quite small for the price, but the taste was very good.
As always wonderful Italian food, done right. Problem on 11/26/16 was the service. Only two servers in full restaurant that we could tell and they were way overworked. Never got around to asking if we wanted ground pepper on salads until we had given up and used the table pepper shaker. My dinner was served with the three other entrees but was not what was ordered. Server apologized, admitted she was wrong and said the correct entrée would be out soon. I watched the three others eat and then ate after they were finished. We had extra glass of wine for "dessert", which also took forever. When check came no comp glass of wine or anything. When I said something she said, "Oh we will comp your dinner that was wrong". My thought was this should have happened automatically without us saying something. Again, great food as always but really bad service that night.
Gorgeous restaurant with mediocre service. Felt like bar/grill atmosphere with fine dining décor.
We decided to eat at the bar instead of our table. Wade waited on us and he could not have been any better. He was great with his service and extremely pleasant to talk with
One of our favorite spots to dine. However, on this particular evening, there was one server for the entire restaurant. Service was at best, not good.
Sadly, not a good experience at this restaurant. We were seated for 30 minutes without a server coming by our table. We flagged down the hostess and asked for our server. Still nothing. A person in our party got up to find a server and couldn't find one in the whole restaurant. By chance a server from the sister restaurant next door was walking through and she asked if we needed help. Fortunately she was lovely and helped us even though we weren't her table. Unfortunately the food wasn't even good enough to make this situation better.
