Another wonderful meal at Via Veneto. Kudos to Tony and his staff, especially the wonderful Angela.
Always a great place to eat Italy’s finest foods. The flavors and the presentation were excellent and the wine selection was superb Service was attentive but not overbearing. The price range was competitive for a restaurant of its stature.
Food was terrible. Very second rate. Bland chicken and steamed vegetables for chicken Vesuvio. Salad was just shred of lettuce with an acidic balsamic they called Italian. Very disappointing.
So very sad this restaurant is closing in its current location; hoping they'll find a new home soon.
Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. It was like being back on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.
Very disappointing food experience. We went on a Saturday night and, amazingly, our main dishes were served about 5-8 minutes after ordering. Although such attentiveness is nice, this timing and the quality of the food brought to our table suggest that the dishes were not freshly prepared. It was as if they had my Veal Piccata cooked and sitting around waiting for an order, only to throw it on a plate and warm it up before bringing it out. The veal seemed boiled more than sauteed, and the liquid from the broccoli that accompanied the veal made it seem like I was given a bowl of soup instead of a properly prepared Veal Piccata. The presentation/appearance of my meal was not at all appealing. My dinner partner liked her pumpkin ravioli, but it too looked like the chef just threw things on the plate without much thought. The prices are similar to those you'd find at very nice Italian restaurants, but the quality didn't match the price.
Been going there for years. Now, I'm wondering where their new location will be.
My date and I were on our way to see the Joker movie and in a rush. We got everything quickly and it was great. She had the mushroom risotto, I had the whole wheat fettuccine and we also had the octopus. We both thought we had very good service, food & the restaurant ambiance was nice and calm.
Been going here for years and introducing it to as many friends as we can. Just delicious authentic regional Italian cuisine. Simple, genuine, and tasty.
The food was just awful, I ordered a minestrone soup that I sent back because it was very acidic and did not taste fresh. We ordered pasta with a red meat sauce that was thick and acidic because they probably use cheap canned tomato’s to make it. The pasta was served warm not hot.
The restaurant was dark and dirty looking. I would never go there again.
Also they gave me a difficult time with using open table when I asked them to make sure that they acknowledged me being there. The manager said if were using a coupon which I did not have I would not be able to use open table. No where did it state that when I made the reservations.
I have been to Italy twice, from Venice to Sicily and Via Veneto is the "real deal"!
The food is completely authentic and the staff couldn't be nicer!
Great atmosphere in a casual setting, great wine list and wonderful Italian Food!
If you haven't been to Via Veneto you owe it to yourself to check it out soon!
Bill in Chicago
Delicious food and great experienced staff
Excellent service and the food was fantastic.
Best Italian food I have ever had!
The column Mari was incredibly greasy. There were puddles of oil at the bottom of the plate. The place appeared to be in disarray or under construction I couldn’t tell. I wouldn’t go again
Pre-Symphony dinner without the Loop crush. Delectable food, personal attention from the owner. Wait staff attentive but unpolished.
Like being in Italy. Great pasta dishes. Great coffee. Great service.
Went for an early Mother’s Day. Food is always excellent and reasonably priced! Service is excellent! Enjoyed the evening very much and will return!
Via Veneto is always good. Food, service, ambiance - and one of most generous wine-pours around. Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Reliable go-to. Highly recommended.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. We were treated to a wonderful desert, Tiramisu. We have had that desert often, but never as good as it is at Via Veneto. Through the years, the food at Via Veneto is very consistently good.
Great food, great service!
Met all my expectations
Very nice restaurant overall.
Great food, great service, like being in Italy.
Great atmosphere. Perfect for a date nightm Food and service were great as well.
We enjoyed the time at this long time area restaurant. Food choices were great and we all enjoyed our meal. Only issue would be the amount of time to get our check and the strange way of processing that took even longer. Needed to add s tip amount on the check before processing. But that aside, we will come back again.
This is the favorite restaurant of a friend. When we go out, this is where we go. It has become one of my favorites too. Family owned, great food and service. They make customers feel like part of the family.
Our experience was very odd. Service was spotty, even though we were the only table in the restaurant. Food was not very good. I ordered the Brasciole della nonna, which was described as being in a lite red sauce, but was flooded with it. Might as well been spaghetti with meat rolls. Caprese salad was nothing to rave about. I make a better giambotta, theirs was ,of course in red sauce. Everything was in red sauce.
Desserts were stale and not tasty at all.
I was here for my birthday and not impressed but the opposite, quite disappointed. Will not he back
Dined here with friends on an early Saturday evening. The food was outstanding and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was attentive, the Italian wine was terrific. We will be back!
Via Veneto is always a good choice for dinner with the family. Food ranged from good (mushroom risotto, salmon with spinach) to very good (seared tuna and chicken vesuvio). The wine list has improved, and by-the-glass pours are very good for the price. The bread is also much better than it used to be. Our birthday celebrant loved the tiramisu! Service was efficient and friendly.
Christmas lunch. Amazingly delicious and wonderful staff. Felt like family.
We went here for Christmas Eve dinner and also my niece’s 10th birthday. The food was delicious and our server was great. I only wish we weren’t seated in the front room, or it looked more like the rest of the restaurant. It was a little too bright and chilly.
The BEST Italian food in Chicago! Fresh & Homemade and affordable.
Hoped the food would have improved since last time. It was mediocre at best - messed up the drinks, the Veal Shank ( 3 of us ordered this) was nothing more than a little shredded meat (seemed like one piece of Shank used for all 3 orders) over ALOT of pasta. Caesar Salad was the most disappointing Caesar Salad we have ever had. We went with great friends and they felt the same way. NO MAS, Via Veneto.
Great food....great service....a downtown quality restaurant at neighborhood affordable prices.
Had a wonderful meal here - don't hesitate to order unique dishes such as the Ravioli Di Zucca (stuffed with pumpkin in a tomato and goat cheese sauce) or the Pistachio Ravioli (handmade ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and pistachio in a creamy amaretto sauce) - both are absolutely wonderful as a lighter dish. The Chicken Vesuvio and the Pork Marsala were also very good. Finished the meal with the tiramisu and the flourless chocolate cake, which was the densest, richest cake ever!
Dinner was great except for a couple two tables away. Very loud, and some foul language
Very enjoyable and delicious.
Via Veneto is a pleasant neighborhood Italian eatery. They very competently prepare a varied menu of Italian favorites and have a good selection of nightly specials. The service was very friendly and efficient. We all will return for another enjoyable evening of Italian dining.
As always we had a great meal and great service. Everything was delicious.
