Santa Monica locals love the classic and fancy Italian at Via Veneto.
We love Via Veneto!
Thank you again for another incredible meal and thank you for having such a remarkable wine list.
Double order of Lamb Chops "Scottadito"
We are Europeans living and working in LA and returned to Via Veneto for the third time. Know that as a family we spent a lot of time in Italy so well aware of the rich and warm Italian dining tradition .
Unfortunately our experience at Via Veneto did not resemble that cultural heritage at all;
- While the appetizers were great the mains were mediocre at best.
- We ordered three soles of $50,- each that were dry (overcooked or had been frozen?) with hardly any sauce.
- We ordered side dishes because there was nothing on the plate. A single potatoes in wedges and veggies for $7 each.
- That is OK unless you get 1 potato and the total becomes a sub standard $64 dish.
The waiter was rude in many ways;
- He was very loud
- Didn't look at us when explaining the daily specials
- Reached across the table over my plate (while I was eating) when there was plenty of space to walk around. This happened a couple of times.
- Did not care to listen or really react to my complained about the dry sole.
- The pasta was good but not great either and we had to ask for grated Parmesan.
We never look at money spent but at value of the experience and like to see a fair balance between price, quality, ambiance and service.
We just could not find that at Via Veneto last Monday.
It was just beautiful
An authentic experience on a costly side. The ambiance is charming, however the tables are small, barely providing enough surface to hold dishes, glasses and utensils, not to mention actual burning candles. Be ready to dish out an ample amount not just for dishes themselves but also sides separately. Our service was on par, very pleasant and courteous.
Incredible meal and service, as usual.
In my opinion the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles.
Mel Gibson was dining there that night.
The Spaghetti Imperiale (with Langoustines) out of this world.
Bravo !! Again.
Great food,a great wine selection will be coming back!
Food was very good until we had to take our last course to go as a very loud and extremely rude couple fought next to our table and made it impossible to enjoy the rest of the meal. Would have been nice to have the restaurant deal with it instead of packing up a very expensive dinner!
We've been dining at via veneto since it opened. It is one of my husbands favorite restaurants in Santa Monica. The bruschetta appetizer was perfection. Wine selection accommodates all tastes and budgets. The risotto is perfectly al dente.
Everything was wonderful- definitely get the ravioli sampler (worth the money!!) Servers were knowledgeable and attentive.
Authentic Italian, delicious.
Absolutely delicious food, amazing wine and stellar service. Will definitely go back there again. Best dining experience I’ve had in a while.
Great great great
The wine policy is terrible. They only allow you to bring 1 bottle, no matter how large your party is. For people that would like to bring special bottles or pair your food with wine.... stay away. The food is great, but they are too strict on the corkage policy. We offered to buy a bottle and pay $75 for the 2nd bottle and they wouldn't allow it. Unfortunately we will not be back.
Very good Italian food, fresh, delicate , pasta is home made and food prepared with love. Great ambience, i feel every time I come here I'm in a NYC restaurant
Food is always super fresh and a good selection, go to Via Veneto regularly.
Everything was perfection! Beef/truffle carpaccio was life-changing!
It's our favorite restaurant in LA. We come here on special occasions and we send all our friends here. We have important business dinners here. Once again the food and atmosphere were perfect. We had champagne and wonderful wine. The one thing that was super sad was the burned, bitter asparagus served served with our delicate fish. When I pointed it out to the waiter he basically said "well, if you ever had asparagus before... that's what it tastes like". We didn't eat it but they still charged us for this side dish. In my opinion that is small minded. It was a $7 side dish on a $250 dinner for two - and we go here a lot. Left a bitter after taste to an otherwise perfect experience.
The best Italian dinner in Los Angeles. Authentic and romantic setting
Most awesomest cut of beef fillet I’ve had in a while. Def a step above and very good quality and quantity for the $. Not an $80 for three ravioli type of place. A little more oily on some dishes than you might expect, but my other diners who had been to Italy alot said this was standard. But, not greasy at all and we left feeling really happy.
No bar, music a little loud only negatives.
Always great pasta and now tomahawk steak!
One of LAs best
First and last time we will go there. Spent $200 for 2 people and we were rushed out after 1 hour 10 minutes. Small restaurant so may have needed the table but then book reservations further apart. We did not leave with a good feeling at all. Could have eaten at a pizza joint for a 10th of the price and same amount of time without getting pushed out.
Via Veneto is a very dark, romantic restaurant with candles on the tables. Most everything we ordered was delicious, but I do have one complaint. The maitre d', who took our order, explained that they were offering a ravioli appetizer consisting of four different kinds of ravioli, two of each on the plate. We did not want to overeat, and wanted to share one appetizer. He said we had to order it as it came, so we went ahead and did so. When the bill came, we discovered that that dish was priced at $37! I truly think that is excessive for a first course, and also that we easily could have split one. We ordered plenty of other food, and it is not a cheap restaurant by any means. We felt that we were being taken advantage of. I would not go back.
The entire evening was lovely from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent and served beautifully. We enjoyed every dish- don’t miss the cacio e Pepe- and can’t wait to return.
Truly one of the best Italian restaurants in LA!
One of the best restaurant in town
table too small. overcrowded room food was 7/10 and wine was delicious.
Amazing food and atmosphere, a true Italian with Italian servers in the westside.
Via Veneto is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in LA. They have a few dishes that are truly transcendent: Lobster ravioli -- I need the entire bread basket to mop up the sauce. Their pannacota is the BEST I have had outside of Florence. Their scampi shrimp & white bean soup is filled with herbs that make is unbelievable. It's beautiful inside with the chandeliers and candle light. The staff is from Italy. They just do everything exceptionally well. Every experience I have ever had at Via Veneto has been outstanding.
Reminded me of being in Italy. The food was excellent!!!
Good for a quieter, conversational atmosphere. Excellent food - the gnocchi was tremendous!
Great wine !
Lovely food wine and service, and the ambiance
Great romantic date place. True candlelight dinning.
An absolutely beautiful place with amazing food and service! Highly recommended!!
Impeccable food and service. A great restaurant for a romantic meal. Gratzi!
