Via Veneto Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at Via Veneto. The staff, including the owner, was welcoming, seated us promptly, and made sure everyone received attentive, efficient and personal service throughout. Although all the tables were full, we never felt rushed and the dining room was comfortably quiet. The food, from both the Thanksgiving and regular menu, was delicious and prepared with care. Easy parking, too. Oh, and the dessert—Croccantino Semifredo—is amazing.
We dined at Via Veneto on Thanksgiving. The restaurant had a turkey meal special in addition to the full dinner menu. So the choices were many and the food was very good. Our server was very friendly. Seems like an authentic sort of old school place. We will go there again.
Been here several times recently. The husband and wife owners are terrific. This is an "Old World" white table cloth type place. Our server treats you like you are her relative. Our server has been the owners wife each time. She is one of the friendliest people I have ever met. Her wine and menu recommendations have been great. We've enjoyed the Scampi and several other appetizers each visit. My wife has had the Ravioli and Chicken dishes. My friend has tried several homemade pasta dishes. All the pasta is homemade. I had the Salmon Vesuvio this past Thursday. Best I've ever had. I've been passing this place for years and finally decided to try it. Wish I done this years ago. We will definitely make this place one of our regular stops.
Been her several times now. This is about as "old world" original Italian as it gets. The pasta is all home made and beats all other places we've been to in Chicago. The appetizers (Shrimp Scampi, stuffed mushrooms, bruchetta) are all wonderful. I enjoyed the homemade gnocchi . My wife and friend had wonderful pasta dishes also. My wife and friend shared beautifully prepared and presented desert. Angela, our host and server is like a wonderful Italian sister, mom or grandma depending on your age. She recommended a wonderful wine and we enjoyed lots of it. This is really a beautiful place run by Angela and her husband. We pass this place almost every day driving between Skokie and all the great restaurants in Lincoln Square. Don't know why it took us so long to stop and try Via Veneto. We really like this place and they didn't even have tom pay us for this review.
i been passing by this italian restaurant via veneto , i decided to stop for business client . i did , i was greeted nicely , i had the best veal piccata , , and fagottini pasta stuffed purses , zucchini blossoms lite . great wines , i had bacio perugina , unbaliveable delicious, also granita di caffee just like italy i will be back for dinner , and special event easy parking
Great food and service. Very friendly staff and very accommodating to our two children. We all ate until we were full and left with two more meals worth of food in to go bags. Great neighborhood restaurant and quality Italian food. I would recommend the Calimari as a starter it rivals the best Chicago has to offer.
10 out of 10 experience we'll be back!👍🏻
This is a gracious old-world Italian restaurant reminiscent of another era.
It was a snowy day and the restaurant wasn't crowded for lunch, however, the food was great. The bread was fresh and delicious. The homemade minestrone was light and fragrant. The shrimp were excellent.
It was my friend's birthday, and our server brought, on her own initiative, a delicious dessert with a message written in chocolate. We will definitely go back.
Food was delicious. I recommend the veal parmigiano. Our waiter was personable and helpful with the menu. It being NYE I was nervous about available seating, but my wife and I were sat in a booth that was comfortable enough for two more guests. Price points were very reasonable but the food didn't suffer. All around a great experience and a great, unpretentious neighborhood restaurant.
This is one of my favorite neighborhood Italian dining spots. They have a wonderful wine selection and the food is better than home made. The pasta special I had was a pumpkin lasagna, it was delicious. My dining companions had a veal pasta dish with a pink tomato sauce and the spaghetti bolognese. We all enjoyed our dishes. We all shared a chocolate mousse cake, another yummy taste sensation. We all agreed that we cannot wait to return.
The food here was delicious and authentic; however, after waiting at the door for 5 minutes we had to track down someone to seat us. The front desk area where the hostess was supposed to be was a mess with piles of old papers. Overall it was just an odd atmosphere.
This is the place to go for delicious Italian food in a welcoming atmosphere. Standard fare is a cut above expectations. Unusual menu offerings were eclipsed by imaginative specials. Service was warm and friendly. We've only eaten here a few times, but it has become our favorite place.
Overall, very impressed. One of the special - chicken involtini - was just that - very special. And, though it was my first time trying it, one of their mainstains, Braciole della Nonna, did NOT disappoint. Really tender beef, immensely flavorful tomato sauce which was not overly heavy (which some red sauces can be when paired with meat), and really nicely cooked, homemade pasta.
Highly recommend this place.
I was particularly disappointed in this visit. The interior of the restaurant has deteriorated over the years. So has the quality of the food. The chicken vesuvio was served as a chicken breast only, even though the menu said it was a whole chicken. It was also served with carrots and brocolli, not the traditional peas. The potatoes were underdone as well.
My friend had the chicken parm wchich was served with a glop of fettuccine and a bland sauce.
We each had a glass of wine, which was subpar as well.
Not sure what happened to this one time neighborhood fave, but now I'd give it a miss.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The service was top notch. I would go back just for how wonderful and attentive our waiter was. He was knowledgeable about the menu and when we followed his recommendations, it was some of the most delectable food I have ever tasted. To start we had calamari, baked clams and breaded eggplant. Calamari had delicious light breading. Breaded eggplant was fire grilled and wonderful. It was the star. If you have to get one thing you absolutely have to get the homemade pistachio ravioli. I have never had anything like it. Total foodie heaven. New flavors with fresh pasta. Perfect.
