Via Carducci - Wicker Park
You're always going to be pleased going here. The staff are friendly and helpful and the chef consistently hits a home run.
Christmas Eve dinner
Eight of us
We ordered from every part of the menu
Ordered specials too -Lobster Risotto was superb
And leave it to my daughter to even ordered items not on menu or specials - it was best and we had some to take home.
The filet had a perfect char, tenderness and smooth as butter texture. Someone else did the meatball & eggplant sides - excellent choice.
Warm inviting atmosphere, very competent service.
Great spot on a special night with family & friends.
Great ambience, service and excellent food and wine.
Everytime is always a great experience. Every food choice is fresh and tastes delicious. Greatest Italian restaurant in town!
Wonderful Date with my Lovely Wife ! Thank you
Food is always really good. My only complaint is that the tables are very small so if you plan to order appetizers, there really is no space for everything.
Casual conversation spot with delicious food.
Went for dinner early on a Sunday night after the theater. It was two adults and two kids. We were placed at an of the way table that was shoved into a corner by the window. Server was nice but hostess was rude when told about washroom door not locking. She blew it off and acted like we didn’t know what we were talking about. Then I heard her and saw her tell someone who worked there and she was laughing about it and making fun of the situation. So terrible. They have zero portions for kids and are not family-friendly which is a shame. Everything tasted good but we were forced to order a 12in pizza for a six year old because no options for anything smaller. Not sure how this could be in a neighborhood that is family friendly. Anyway, it was embarrassing to be treated like that by the hostess and I will not return.
I love Via Carducci. We randomly stumbled upon this hidden gem in Wicker Park looking for a place to eat or night and couldn’t resist the smells. So when I had to decide where to have my birthday dinner this year, this was my pick. Great ambiance, low key and amazing food. It’s authentic and portions are very generous.
Food is delicious and top-quality. Service is always at the perfect pace.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant!!
Everything was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious - both my husband and I finished our whole plate! Everyone we encountered was so friendly and the environment was upbeat, authentic, and comfortable.
Have been there several times. Eggplant parm was very tender and tasty. Portion size is generous. Smaller restaurant with very energetic vibe.
I’ve been going to Via Carducci for 13 yrs and never been disappointed. Food is very tasty , always fresh and flavorful - Calabrian style in Wicker Park!
Be prepare for pretty big portions!
Prices are very reasonable ...
Highly recommended for any occasion!!!
Excellent date spot. Great ambience, good food, and not at all too noisy.
My fiancé and I were looking for a local spot to go to with her parents. The food was classic homemade Italian. We were especially impressed with the two salads we ordered to share as starters. The tables are pretty close together but is pretty typical for a small local spot. I recommend this spot, especially if you live walking distance!
main dining area, lovely... food, delicious... SIDE dining area, a little tight (just a hallway)
Via Carducci blends warm service, delicious food, and a comfortable, neighborhood vibe into something wonderful. A great place to become a “regular.”
This is a very good restaurant with a wonderful ambience in a fantastic location with very nice people.
Great appetizers, wine and dinner! Love this place and can’t wait to come back. The chicken saltimbocca is tremendous!
Love the place. Service was bad this particular night. Both orders were wrong. He told me he could fix it but it would take another 25 minutes... for a side of pasta...
All pastas are great..never had anything else.
Always a pleasure dining at Via Carducci. Excellent service and food is consistently good and satisfying!
Table was indoor/outdoor .Charming, authentic southern Italian. Enjoyed live music. Grilled calamari was delicious. My angel hair with bolognese very tasty. My husband eggplant parm also quite good. Great crusty bread. Waiter nice and very capable. Nice chat with owner. He sent us a free Italian sausage app and shots of lemoncello. First time. We will return.
Been coming here for years... Food and service was solid as usual... the live music was WAY TO LOUD.. the servers apologized about it before we even shared our thoughts. The tables on either side of us were joking about how ridiculously loud it was... I couldn’t really hear my server and even struggled to converse with my date...... when the owner stopped by asking if everything was ok we let him know it was much too loud.. he dismissed the feedback and explained to us the reasons he wanted it that loud and why we just didn’t understand..... my response— “you’re not listening..” his response to that— he told me I wasn’t listening... anyway- he is clearly drunk on his own success to the point that he lacks common sense that it’s a restaurant.. not a concert.. and that no one would ever willingly play music that loud over dinner... we will be back.. just not when Pavarrati is performing...
The outdoor seating was full, so we sat inside. We were asked to change tables as the apps were brought out, but they comped us for a dessert and coffee. The food was all excellent, the service was very good and authentic. I would definitely go back.
Great drinks and food! The Fruiti de mar was delicious. Great outdoor seating.
Beautiful spot for a meeting. Great service. Delicious sausage and pasta.
Yes, but . . . I've been there several times and like it very well. The menu is limited (and pasta-oriented), but everything I've had has been very good. The downside. . .they're a little disorganized. In summer, w/outdoor seating, the wait staff hangs out by the front door. You can't tell who the host is. We said we were there for our 7:00 reso and were seated w/o being asked for our name. Got a nastygram from Open Table the next day about being a no-show. Each waiter appeared to have tables both inside and outside, so they were covering a lot of ground. Should have been divided up better by territory. And they seemed to spend a lot of time by the front door talking to each other instead of checking on their tables. We had Halley's Waiter - very knowledgeable but he only came around about once every 86 years. 2 orders seemed to get lost in the kitchen - took a very long time even as the crowd thinned out. So when Halley did show up, it was mostly to apologize. It also took a very long time to get a check. Halley completed many orbits w/o eye contact or a check-in. We were seated near the kitchen, so we were right in his path. Couldn't get his attention. We also found it loud - as w/many places these days, hard surfaces everywhere and the sound just bounces. These are things that could easily be corrected - and should be because they detract from an otherwise delightful experience.
The entertainment on the sidewalk added so much enjoyment to the evening and brightened up everyone’s mood. We sang along to all the old Italian songs.
Great food and outdoor dining. The live music on Friday night was a bonus.
Staff felt like they were rushing us but overall would go again
Excellent Service, Food is always wonderful! Thank you.
The food was excellent and the service was great. Would definitely recommended for a great neighborhood Italian spot!
GREAT neighborhood eatery! Terrific food and service. Ambiance is hip and friendly. the owner, Giovanni, visited every table inside and outside on the patio. Highly recommend this place for an all-around good evening. Live music on some nights.
Reunion moment , Beautiful , Thank you !
Excellent food as always!!! Everything from the service to the food was on point.
Great food, setting and service.
