Vespucci is our absolutely favorite restaurant that always takes us back to Italy to authentic Italian food. Last night was no different. Even with a full restaurant due to Father's Day, we were there to celebrate Dave's birthday, and, as usual, it didn't disappoint. Dave had the chicken which was unbelievably fabulous (you must order this sometime!), and I had the fettuccine with shrimp, spicy tomato sauce and basil. So incredibly delicious with the house made pasta.
Manuela and Francesco continue to provide amazing service, you really feel you are in their private dining room in their home and you are an honored guests. That never gets old!
Good food and quietly empty. Everything was average (service, drinks, abiace, etc) but the food was really good!
Best find! Gotta go and manga manga!! Love all of it!!
Like true Italian venues, this restaurant respects diners wishes to stay as long as like during/ after a meal. Dishes authentic and tasty. Appetizers, arugala salad, creamed spinach excellent.
While parking on E. 3d Street can be challenge, there is handy around corner multi-level public lot run by city of San Mateo with good availability.
Fantastic. Food was delicious and service was excellent. We had a large party; and they were very accommodating.
Never disappoints! We love this place... the food is always fresh and delicious. Francesco and Manuela are the owners and are so gracious and friendly, we enjoyed their hospitality and conversation. We were there for a graduation lunch (7 people) and there was plenty of room and all the food came out hot and at the same time. Love it here!
The service is very good, and the food is good, try it out. The owners are very friendly !
Vespucci is by far the best Italian cuisine on the Peninsula. Manuela and Francesco are amazing and treat you like you are in a dining room in an Italian home. The food is amazing... all from their family recipes in Southern Italy. It is a warm and friendly atmosphere for any occasion and Francesco can pair wine with any entree. Definitely recommend this spot.
We love Vespucci; the food, the service, and the owners. It's always nice to try something different on the menu, many of the dishes are family recipes. Manuela and Francesco are so warm and friendly.
The owners Francesco and Manuela treat all their guests as if they are the only customers in the restaurant, just as if you were dinning at their house. And the food is as wonderful as they are.
Recently moved here in the Bay Area from Europe, and I was looking for a place where feeling at home, finally I found this cute little restaurant. I was impressed by the elegant decors and artworks at the walls, by the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the attentive and professional service and most of all BY THE FOOD! We enjoyed burrata cheese and vegetable soup as an appetizer, gnocchi gorgonzola and fusilli genovese as a main course. Both dishes were tasty without been heavy. The hit of the night was definitely their amazing tiramisu fluffy, soft, creamy and surprisingly light. No doubt, they gonna see me often!!!
A very nice Italian restaurant with authentic dishes. The service was excellent and the hosts/owners were very welcoming. The tiramisu was incredible (and alcohol -free which was a big plus for us).
Being an Italian myself, when it comes about Italian food I can be very picky. I have heard about VESPUCCI from other Italians and decided to give it a try!
It was a great experience over all, from the warm greetings at the door, the impeccable service and ending with an amazing meal . my fiancé and I enjoyed the parmigiana di melanzane (eggplant parmigiana), Carbonara and fried calamari as an appetizer; fried calamari were tender and crispy, carbonara creamy and delicious but most of all authentic, no heavy cream, that’s the way it should be. The eggplant parmigiana was moist, flavorful and succulent. It is “Calabrian”style so each single slice is dipped in eggs and flour and fried, simply delicious. Unfortunately we were to full for dessert.....
I am already planning my next visit.
We wanted to try a new Italian restaurant in San Mateo and were able to sit down immediately. It's a large restaurant with exceptionally welcoming staff. The food was average and taste was bland. I had the eggplant parmesan which was overcooked and greasy. My husband the spaghetti carbonara which was over cooked and the noodles taste like heated up cooked spaghetti. The mista salad was a dish of tossed spring greens. The service was wonderful and the staff attentive.
Great food....friendly staff make everyone feel welcome.
Their grandfather’s award winning Tiramisu recipe is to die for!
Long wait for entree and then arrived cold. Petrale sole didn’t taste or look like any I’ve seen or tasted.
Overall food tasted extremely pedestrian that catered to a generic clientele. Nothing authentic nor unique.
We were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance, great food selection and helpful staff. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and will return again soon.
As always a wonderful time. Great food and service. There is definitely a European feel as this is much more a “dining” experience than just “eating” dinner. They are gracious and hospitable. Never rushed and a great attention to detail. They did not hover pushing you and left us to enjoy our time. I see reviews about noise and did not experience a issue with conversation at our table. This will become one of our regular goto places for good Italian food.
The noise level was so bad that conservation across the 2-person table was not possible. This is far worse than it was during our earlier visit. Because of this unpleasantry I was tempted not to recommend.
The Fusilli Genovese was somewhat bland but the ravioli was tasty.
Always amazing!!!! The service and the food is outstanding and the atmosphere is so friendly !
Ristorante Vespucci is by far the best authentic Italian cuisine on the Peninsula. Being in the restaurant is like being in a warm Italian home. Manuela and Francesco do an amazing job of bringing their family recipes from Southern Italy to your table. Francesco knows wine and will pair the menu with whatever dish you are having. It is always an amazing experience when we visit Vespucci. Been going there for years and will continue for many more to come.
Excellent food. Good service.
The service was very good, the ambiance was good, and the food was AMAZING. If you like good Italian food this place is for you.
My girlfriend and I have dined here before and it has always been spectacular. This was an anniversary so I selected Vespucci as it is a very special place. The owners pride themselves in fantastic food and service and they did not disappoint. Manuela knew it was an anniversary and presented us with a dessert that was unique and touching. I highly recommend
Love this place
We really enjoy Vespucci; the owners are so hospitable, and the food is delicious. Many of the dishes prepared are family recipes.
We had a pleasant and amiable meal whose hightllights were the very attentive service from the staff and the ability to have a normal conversation despite the site being mostly full. Some of this is attributable to the restaurant's patronage which are, like this writer, well along the path of seniority.
The service was very pleasant and personable. We actually had the owner come over and talk to us for a while. I really could not have asked for better service! The food was amazing as well. I had the lobster ravioli one of my friends had the lamb, and the other had the cioppino. We all were immensely happy with our selections. When they brought bread to the table, it came with a tomato dipping sauce that was absolutely heavenly. We had the tiramisu and the affogato for dessert and ate every last bite. I will definitely be back again! It was so nice to talk to the owner. I love the fact that this is a local business and not a chain restaurant. He definitely has done an amazing job with both the menu and wine selection.
Best place in the Peninsula. The owners are extremely warm inviting. The food is marvelous, a must try!
We have been here several times, and Vespucci never disappoints. Once again, I had their special. This time it was pork tenderloin medallions on a bed of polenta with a mushroom sauce. So satisfying, and comfort food at its best. My husband had a sausage pasta dish, and enjoyed it very much. Both our plates had no food remaining.
The owners are absolutely wonderful; warm and inviting. They make you feel as if you have been invited into their home for dinner. We will definitely be returning again.
Reunion with long ago friends

Greeted by Manuela which is s real nice touch. Food was fabulous. I have recommended to everyone.
This charming Italian restaurant is everything one should hope for and expect in authenticity and spirit. The food is outstanding with a variety of pastas and entree favorites. The owners are gracious and committed to making their customers' experience memorable. We came all the way from the East Bay and will definitely come back!
Manuela was very polite and accommodating to start and put us in a nice table right in the middle. The service was good but we had to ask to get refills, etc. Excellent food and drinks and the desserts were delicious too. Will definitely return.
Exceptional and authentic italian food with outstanding service! My go-to restaurant when craving Italian or a great dining experience.
Vespucci is a little gem in downtown San Mateo. The food is always wonderful and the ambiance is warm and inviting.
Great engaging service from the owners and fantastic food.
Manuela And Francesco always make our dining experience an enjoyable one. They offer quite a few selections on gluten and dairy free meals. I would highly recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. Looking forward to many more dining experiences here in the near future!
Had very nice night along with a great dinner, very good food, service, and wine
