Fine and will probably go back because of proximity to Disney Hall but not awesome
The service was great. The food was average. $15 for valet parking seemed a bit high. Most Beverly Hills valets are $12 or less.
Tonight was nice. It consists of Friendly staff, good food, good times. Excellent wine pairings.
Upscale trendy music, & decor
We were able to select our own seats.
Overall, wonderful experience.
Thank you, Richard
Food was good. The pizza funghi really tasted authentic. Prices are comparable to other places around the area. Great place to go before the theater/opera/concert. Very speedy and attentive service.
Had early dinner (4pm) on a Saturday. Excellent food and service. A very pleasant experience
Lovely dinner before a show at Mark Taper. Good awrvice, delicious food and very convenient location.
The servers were not very attentive. It may be due to the theater rush. When ever you have keep asking to refill your water glass, it is not going to be a good evening.
Excellent experience. Hostess and manager were very warm many of the servers seemed crazy-busy, literally running their orders, when the place didn’t seem that packed. Made for a bit of unsettling distraction; our server was comparatively calm, which was nice. We would go there again for sure.
The food was totally overpriced and not good. Desserts were boring.
The service was fine.
For the same price Otrium or Kendall’s are much better options. Won’t be going back.
Vespaio is our go to place pre-theatre. The service is always excellent. Today we had some of there special dishes of the day - lamb osso buco with potato puree and grilled swordfish topped with a tomato mushroom sauce and asparagus. The lamb fell of the bone and the swordfish flavorful and moist. Prices average $36 for the specials.
We come every week on our way to the theater and enjoy it every time. Would like a few more different specialties from time to time. A few more vegetarian options as well and a few more fish choices. Overall I like everything. I’d like a few more choices of wine by the glass. Thank you.
I've been eating at Vespaio for weekend brunch and pre-theater get together with friends for several years. While service has generally been good (though uneven) , it's gone downhill over the past year. Food quality & preparation has also gone downhill over the past year. I had an omelet on my last visit that was very overcooked so that it was very dry. A friend ordered the bagel & lox: Vespaio was out of bagels and the lox wasn't good (fish was not spoiled but it wasn't cured properly).
The location is convenient but likely will explore other restaurants when new stores open across the street at the new Grand Avenue Project.
We enjoyed our entire meal. As soon as we were sat, our meal flowed from appetizer to dessert. Perfect
It's very convenient if you're going to the DIsney Concert Hall, The Broad or the Dorothy Chandler. On Fridays, it is open late, and you can go after an event. Unfortunately, on Thursdays it isn't. The food is okay--nothing special. The waitstaff is friendy, but we had to leave to go to a concert and it took forever to get a check--and then they brought the wrong one. It's very loud when crowded and not really conducive to conversing. I was also there on a Friday night after an event, when it was empty, sat at the bar, ordered finger food and dessert. That food and dessert were better and the bartender was great.
I had salmon gravlax that came with a side salad. The salad was very mediocre, semi-wilted lettuce, a few radishes and tomatoes -- with a tasteless dressing. I asked for salt and pepper to give it more taste, but it didn't help much. The salmon was not a bright "salmon" color, but rather brown with maybe 10 capers. It tasted OK but was visually unattractive. I would not recommend this restaurant.
One of my favorites in downtown!
1. One of four orders was incorrect wrong.
2. Desert came without silverware.
3. Coffee did not come with desert and was too late to drink even though we had 5:45 reservations and told the server, who was very pleasant and did not seem rushed that we had theater tickets.
Just okay for dinner. Would probably not go again with so many other better choices nearby.
Right next door to the Broad and Disney Hall, as well as the Ahmanson nearby, so this is a most convenient place for either pre or post activity dining. We arrived an hour early for a reservation after a matinee at Disney Hall and were seated right away. Full bar, Mediterranean/Italian menu with a good variety. Dessert was amazing! Service was okay, could have been more attentive on the server side, but water glasses were always full, plates cleared promptly. Definitely would dine again when attending venues in the area.
We have eaten here for both lunch and dinner. The service and food are great. Lovely place and very convenient to Disney Hall or the Music Center
We had dinner before a show as I'm sure most of the crowd did. Started with the soup special, butternut squash. It was almost a meal itself and was outstanding. My wife had the filet minion risotto which was very flavorful with an extremely generous portion size. I had the jadori chicken and potatoes. Well prepared and also plentiful. Great job. Thanks.
Walking distance to Disney Hall lies an outstanding choice for Italian Fare.Excellent food well served and friendly staff.
Perfect for a pre-theater meal. Book well in advance though
We sat on the enclosed patio warm great atmosphere. Food delicious from the salad to the desert and cocktails 👍 The service was excellent and we felt good value for the price short walk to Music Center . Will recommend and come back
Vespaio has a varied menu. One can have complete dinners or make a meal ordering from the starters section of the menu. By its proximity to the music center complex, Vespaio is perfect for making an evening of it – dinner and show – or in my case dinner and concert at the Disney concert Hall.
Must there be a big screen television in every room?
We were pleased with Vespaio because we did not know what to expect. It was the perfect place to sit and wine down before a show. The food was good, the menu was abundant and our sever was knowledgeable and attentive.
This evening, the food was outstanding. Our server, Silvia, and the manager, Jonathan, made us feel welcome and provided excellent service.
Service was extremely slow. Had to ask for waiter 3 times. Too bad, as the food was excellent.
My eggplant parm (appetizer for my main dish) was barely warm. Good enough taste though not great. Octopus was delicious. Wild boar pasta was delicious and worth coming back. Service attentive, friendly, and unobtrusive.
They were out of the cab by the glass ... they were out of the main course we wanted ... we were dining at 6pm and the place wasn’t busy
So weird and disappointing - we’ve eaten here many times before and never been this bad
pus for two who ordered was tough. A deafest risotto was bland, as was another pasta dish.
Service was good
pre-concert dinner, Staff was attentive to pour time limit. Great bar, good athmosphere.
It was VERY cold outside and there was an AC running on us. We changed tables and it was still the same. It destroyed the "ambiance". The noise level was annoying but we understand there is no real separation from the bar & it's pumped in music. It's quieter in the area next to the sidewalk but it was cold enough where we were (near the deli, away from the doors)!
Eggplant parmigiana was outstanding. Service very good. Good place for before theater dining
Food is beyond overpriced and simply not very good
When we arrived , i gave our waiter my credit card and explained that we had theater tickets @ 8pm.
Service was slow, I reminded the waiter 2 more times that we had theater tickets. We had to ask for the bill and my guest gave him his credit card. That was not OK. I had to ask him for my credit card back explained I was not happy with him forgetting I'd given it to him and started to make excuses. Plus I found the food was mediocre. I allowed one and a half hours for dinner. I have season tickets to the Ahmanson, I was hoping to have another resturant close by to enjoy, but will never go back.
We have been to Vespaio 3 times, including this past New Year’s Eve. The review I am writing applies to our dinner this past Sat eve, prior to going to Disney Hall. My husband and I both ordered the assorted seafood soup(more like a stew) as a main course. My portion was composed of a large amount of what I think were squid pieces, one bite of some sort of fish, and one small langoustine. We noticed my husband’s portion had 4 prawns as well, while mine had none! The chef forgot to add them to my soup. When I pointed this out to the waiter, his only response was “well , the kitchen was really busy. “ The correct thing to do in a restaurant which charges the prices Vespaio does, would be to offer to still bring the shrimp or prawns, or offer a complementary coffee, dessert, etc. My impression is that the restaurant has a hard time coping with the pre-concert or theater rush. My review of the place is that they are just ok.
Definitely 5+ stars! Ideal for dining pre-concert at Disney or Music Center. Our party of 6 arrived at 5:45, was promptly seated and received great service from waiter (Hilario) and staff to depart with enough time for easy walk to Disney for 8 pm concert. Vespaio waitstaff was very attentive/responsive/timely. We advise patrons to disregard prior reviews complaining of wait-time and inattentive staff -- those issues have been remedied by management -- but make reservation and arrive at around 6 (or before) to allow time for relaxed dining if you must make 8pm curtain. Broad menu has something delicious for all ages and appetites. Our party (ages 15 to 85) had yummy appetizers, salad, pizza, various entrees, and shared dessert. Waiter thoughtfully offered to put coffee in paper cups for us to sip leisurely during walk to Disney to save time. Thanks Vespaio!
Food, and service was just ok for what we paid. We were a party of 5 and ordered a cheese plate as a starter. The waitress strongly encouraged me to order two cheese plates for the table indicating that the servings were small with only 3 small crostinis. She was right that they only gave us three small crostinis per plate but it came with four good sized cheeses. One plate would have been enough for the table if there were a few more crackers. Of course there was plenty of cheese when the crostinis were gone we asked for additional bread. She said she could only bring us three more. I reminded her that we ordered two plates per her recommendation so the least she could do was bring us three more per plate. Theses were nothing special- seriously just small slices of baguette that were dried out- I wouldn’t even say they were toasted. It was a really cheap move and left a bad feeling for the rest of the meal.
