We have been going to Vescios once or twice a year (we don't live in the Twin Cities) for almost 30 years and we have never been disappointed. Love the dinner salad with house dressing and the bread. Our favorite entree is the cannelloni, but everything else we've tried has also been great.
Good place to meet before a Gopher game. Good Italian food at reasonable prices. Very casual dining and good for adults and kids.
Food and Service was delicious. Only comment is the hostess did not know what Open Table was, so they did not have our reservation. Luckily the restaurant was not busy so we were able to be seated.
Went here for my birthday dinner and wasn't overly impressed but if it had just been for any other casual date I would have been pleased. The food was good and a good value, but the ambiance and service could have been better.
Classic Italian place. Not fancy, but we really enjoyed it
Great place to get together with friends and/or family. Food was great but not really a place that I would recommend for a business dinner; a bit too casual atmosphere for business.
We love the chicken parmesan and our 8-year-old loves the spaghetti and meatballs! Our favorite Italian spot!
Seating area-back room, was very nice. Food was very good
Only complaint- we ordered 1 " to go " and waiter forgot to
put in the order, so we had to wait for it. This is the 2nd time
with this waiter this has happened. other wise his service was
very good. We'll be back, as will our guests, who were new to
For the first time, we were disappointed with the food. The oven baked dish was not hot when it was brought to the table. We took it home and heated it. It was very good hot.
We had a delightful meal prior to a Gopher hockey game with three couples. Everything about the dinning was excellent.
New Years Eve
Misleading website noted kids eat free on Sundays and we were charged. They said they changed the policy and now it is only for parties of 10 or more and you verbally need to request it. Appetizers were bad, tried 3 including a combo. Out of mozzarella sticks so substituted bad cheese bread. Dinners all subpar. Sorry! The waitress was very good. I was told to get back to them on Tuesday, 2 days later when the manager was in. I asked if they preferred a bad review and they said they could not do anything.
The lasagne was great. It is a nice spot to go before U of M events.
Great Italian food! The food really hit the spot!
We were sad to see the Other Vescio's close, but will now try to make the trip to Dinkytown as often as we can to enjoy this Great Italian Food!
First impression of this restaurant was horrible. I walked in and it was a run down restaurant that didn't smell like food, but garbage. Walking to the back room was a little better, but not great. Not a nice restaurant, ok for post college game food.
excellent food, service and all around great resturant
This was our first time at the Dinkytown location as we always went to the St Louis Park location that closed. Still the same great food we used to enjoy there. Love that you can buy the Italian salad dressing that they make.
Waiter was amazing. Super helpful with parking, super helpful with wine selection, super friendly and attentive overall.
My sister (U of M 1965 grad) was in town, so my husband and I (U of M 1968 grads) decided to treat her to a dinner of nostalgia at Vescio's. We all loved it back in our college days. We still love it. Great pizza, great pasta, great wine, great service.
Wonderful Italian food. Had a meatball bigger than my fist.
Pretty much any of the Italian choices are all excellent; you cannot go wrong.
Wonderful time, good food, great service.
This restaurant has a wonderful down-home feel. The family operating it are friendly and customer-oriented. You'll be treated well! And the food is very good.
Love eating here. Go here every chance I get
Delicious, mouthwatering Italian fare. Lovely decor, great service. Neighborhood gem, family owned and loved by all.
We went there for Valentine's Day. We had a very good meal, our waitress was very helpful, and we had a good experience. The atmosphere was very nice. We would definately go there again. Thank you.
Every one is very pleasant great service and great food
Food was Great. Service was great. we plan to visit again.
The location is very central to U of M campus and events. Food is fine, everything is quite okay.
As always wonderful food and services. We have been going to this lovely place for 40 plus yrs.
Made a reservation using the open table app. Very easy and got seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Place was full but our server was very attentive and pleasant. Food came pretty quickly. The only thing our server forgot was to come back and get our drink order. Overall a good experience.
Had reasonably high hopes that this "institution" would be a great family meal. Party of 6, so not crazy huge group, but 3 of 6 felt that the food was mediocre. Service was "nice", but not special. Good spot for college kids that may have never been to Chicago or NYC.
Classic college Italian/Pizza hangout place with good food. Not good for business meetings as ambiance is on the basic side with institutional looking booths and seating.
It is easy to understand why this restaurant has been in business as long as it has near the University of Minnesota campus. The food is excellent, and very reasonably priced. Great place for pre-marathon carb loading.
This is my third time eating here. Great food and service! This is our go to pre marathon dinner place. Excellent again!
The service was disappointing. We finally had to flag someone down to find The waitress assigned to our table. No apology or explanation for the long delay
My girlfriend and I went here for a half anniversary and it was great. We had such a nice time. They took care of everything and kept the bread coming. Frank Vescio should be proud of this family business
Vescio's (DInkytown) has two rooms. If you walk in the door there's a simple dining area like you'd see at fast food. But if you make reservations like I did they can bring you to their more secluded back area with white linens.
Food: VERY buttery (risky for the weak-stomached) but I didn't want to stop eating -- EXCELLENT
We had cherry cheesecake dessert - worth it
Service: helpful and unobtrusive. We arrived as the only couple and were greeted well and given helpful recommendations
Decor: we went at 5, and it was very quiet. It's not the fanciest of locations from the outside, but a back table is a welcome escape
Good food...not a lot of updates. A throwback to my days at the U in the early 80s.
