About Vescio's Originale
In 1956, Frank T. Vescio and his wife, Charlotte, founded Vescio"s Originale in Dinkytown on the U of M campus. Frank, a second generation Italian from the southern Calabria region in Italy, spent many years with his mother, Teresa, (Liz) Vescio, cooking and creating in the kitchen. The Vescio's love of family, authentic Italian cooking and tradition is still with us today as third, fourth and fifth generations of Vescios are carrying on the dreams and values of Frank T. Vescio.

Vescio's Originale Ratings and Reviews
We have been going to Vescios once or twice a year (we don't live in the Twin Cities) for almost 30 years and we have never been disappointed. Love the dinner salad with house dressing and the bread. Our favorite entree is the cannelloni, but everything else we've tried has also been great.
Seating area-back room, was very nice. Food was very good
Only complaint- we ordered 1 " to go " and waiter forgot to
put in the order, so we had to wait for it. This is the 2nd time
with this waiter this has happened. other wise his service was
very good. We'll be back, as will our guests, who were new to
Misleading website noted kids eat free on Sundays and we were charged. They said they changed the policy and now it is only for parties of 10 or more and you verbally need to request it. Appetizers were bad, tried 3 including a combo. Out of mozzarella sticks so substituted bad cheese bread. Dinners all subpar. Sorry! The waitress was very good. I was told to get back to them on Tuesday, 2 days later when the manager was in. I asked if they preferred a bad review and they said they could not do anything.
Made a reservation using the open table app. Very easy and got seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Place was full but our server was very attentive and pleasant. Food came pretty quickly. The only thing our server forgot was to come back and get our drink order. Overall a good experience.
Had reasonably high hopes that this "institution" would be a great family meal. Party of 6, so not crazy huge group, but 3 of 6 felt that the food was mediocre. Service was "nice", but not special. Good spot for college kids that may have never been to Chicago or NYC.
Vescio's (DInkytown) has two rooms. If you walk in the door there's a simple dining area like you'd see at fast food. But if you make reservations like I did they can bring you to their more secluded back area with white linens.
Food: VERY buttery (risky for the weak-stomached) but I didn't want to stop eating -- EXCELLENT
We had cherry cheesecake dessert - worth it
Service: helpful and unobtrusive. We arrived as the only couple and were greeted well and given helpful recommendations
Decor: we went at 5, and it was very quiet. It's not the fanciest of locations from the outside, but a back table is a welcome escape
