This is one of my most favorite places in LA area.
Great location to be able to start with Happy Hour and finish with a nice sit down dinner. Location was great and easy to find. There was a variety of food, and it was very delicious. As for drinks, there was a great selection of wines, beers, and mixed drinks. Will recommend to someone on a date, or after work. This place was great on a Friday evening!
Loved the mystic as you climb up the vintage looking staircase to the restaurant entrance. Upon entering the energy was vibrant due to a small crowd celebrating a birthday at the bar. We were given a table by a window quite a few steps away from the bar. This was awesome since the wall that separted us from the bar kept the noise down. I really wanted to enjoy my husbands conversation and I was able to. Our window allowed us to peak over a few brick buildings that had several lighted strings of round bulbs illuminating a pathway used by pedestrians. It was quite romantic since we were dinning during dusk hours. I ordere the Pan-Seared Salmon. The presentation was unique and quite creative. The salmon layed over a bed of green lentils and a sunny side egg topped the salmon quite flirtatious. My first bite introduced me to an amazing mix of flavors which actually began a festive moment in my mouth. I loved it. The salmon was not overpowering and seared to perfection which I enjoyed very much. I paired my meal with a glass of Rascal Jolivet and it was magnificent. The owner of the establishment presented him self to us and I found him quite charming. He made us feel very welcomed. We can't wait to return.
This is a lovely restaurant that has an interior design that would be appropriate in Architectural Digest. I recommend the new salmon entree with risotto as a side. Sit near the DJ if you want an energetic night. Otherwise dine in the private area to allow for a quiet conversation with family, friends, or acquaintances. For dessert go with the creme brûlée.
It’s great place , service is good considering there was only one waiter that was serving everyone. Great food too it was very tasty .
Made my daughter's birthday very special. Love your menu and wine selection. My family and I were very satisfied and will return in future. Nancy
We would have given this restaurant 5 stars , however we had to be searching for our waiter, once he came he was very friendly . We were celebrating my nieces 27 th bday . Was our 1st time for all four of us, pay a little more attention to your guests next time
Great place for fine dining! They got everything right.
Great bar bites. Mac n cheese was awesome. Loved the wine and the chat with the owner. Super nice and friendly place.
Had a wonderful time at Vertical Wine Bistro. The server was extremely attentive and sweet! The manager even stopped by to say hello and introduce himself. They also had a great jazz band playing in the lounge area, but it wasn’t too loud that it bothered us in the dining room.
All in all, it was a great experience, and I would love to go back!
First class foodie option in Solvang, featuring prix-fixe, small plates and local ingredients. A very nice place to savor your latest bottle after a long day of wine tasting.
A friend recommended Vertical Wine Bistro to me for a small group dinner - great recommendation! We had a wonderful dinner - fantastic food and friendly, attentive service.
Lovely evening for our anniversary dinner on Saturday. We had not been before and loved the quaint nook entrance upstairs. We had an early dinner reservation and at 6pm we were the only people until a family came in at 6:30 and then a few patrons at the bar arrived a bit later. The fact the restaurant was empty did alarm us since we expected it to be crowded on the eve of Father's Day. However, presentation and meal were excellent. We started with the calamari and a great light red bottle of wine. My husband order a steak and I, the halibut. Truly tasty on all counts. Rick, the owner made sure to come by and introduce himself and stayed an extended time chatting about the roots of the establishment. He explained later in the evening they were going to have live music at the bar. We enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant and hope that the lack of patrons is not the norm. We wanted quiet and less crowds for our evening, so it felt to us like a great little secret of Old Town Pasadena...but they surely can't survive when it's that slow. We hope business continues to go well for them and look forward to going again.
Vertical Bistro is one of our favorite hidden gems--great wine list, excellent cuisine and one of the best Manhattans in Pasadena. I recommend it for a wonderful date night, but we also take our young kids (10 & 7) there. It is truly a hidden gem!
Very Disappointing. Very expensive for unimaginative and bland food. Nice ambiance but the food needs to justify itself when you pay for $30-40 entrees.
Food was ok.
Mama’s Day. Other than the service lacking a bit. Not sure why...it was late in the day and they weren’t busy at all...it was very nice and I’d definitely come back.
Disorganized service, but good food at a very fair price and nice setting.
Fit for a couple going out or for a business dinner... from the bartenders to the wait staff to the back of the house, all pitch in and provide a solid, enjoyable experience. Go. Go back. Go back again...
A fine place for our family to have gathered for a wonderful meal
Always a great place for fine dining. Wonderful food, drinks and wine. Great atmosphere. Our Waiter was great. My Old Fashion got a bit sticky so I asked our waiter just for a wet napkin to wipe my hands. He went and got a wet hot cloth napkin and rolled it up and put it in a glass (the same size as my old fashion). I was just expecting a wet towel from the restroom but he went the extra mile. I was able to use this thought my meal. My partner and I have had this same waiter many times and he is always great. I not sure of his name but we always eat in the dining area. He is a very nice, polite and friendly young man. He is there when you need him but otherwise leaves you alone. Since we had time before the symphony we asked him not rush our orders through and he did just that. Drinks, appetizers, entree and dessert all at a great pace. And since my last post they have fixed the elevator. With my bad leg, it was so helpful.
The food was excellent - a great menu with lots of options. My beet salad was fresh and delicious and the service was excellent. I requested something not on the menu and it was not a problem at all. I would very much recommend this place. The wine list was also diverse and interesting. A real treat.
The salad they advertized on the menu was not available, the dessert of cheesecake was on the menu but not available. I wanted decaf coffee and it was unavailable. The service was excellent. The food was good. I will not be going back.
The price was fair.
Decent wine but terrible food. Pasta is salty but bland and wayyyy overcooked. Risotto is salty but once again bland. Steak au poivre was cooked right but served cold so that was a big disappoinment. Good for drinks but eat elsewhere.
Love, love, love this place! True quality customer service every time!
Great experience. The halibut and salmon were both excellent. Outstanding service. We enjoyed talking with the owner. He was very friendly and genuinely concerned that we had a wonderful experience.
The food was great but the portions were way too small, especially considering how much they charge. I cannot recommend this place to anyone because it's a terrible value for the money.
We love Vertical Wine Bistro, the food is always terrific and it's a great spot for date night, a special occasion or a fun bar scene after dinner!
Nice wine special on Wednesday and the food was all very well prepared and tasty. The space is nice and comfortable and the wait staff was competent and attentive. I'll come back for sure.
Friendly owner and great service. Food was very good but the place was quiet early in the evening.
Wonderful table, great food. Loved our server. we talked with Rick the owner. He's very cool and took the time to get to know us. We'll definitely be back❤️
Wonderful food, wine and service. Will return.
We had a fantastic time! Rick, the owner came over and sat with us and had great conversation. The food was delicious. Everything that I have tried at this restaurant on their menu is amazing. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends. Love going there.
My wife and I dined on Valentines Day and we’re greatly disappointed. The service was extremely slow, 3 hours for dinner slow. This was unacceptable. To worsen the romantic occasion, the food was simply not very good. The steak entree was supposed to be served with a peppercorn sauce. They must have run out, because it came with bbq sauce, and one that was I’ll tasting. A filet served with bbq sauce is a cardinal sin. I would have preferred no sauce, but the steak was placed in the sauce. The dinner was served with wine tastes with each course. Considering it was a 3 hour dinner, I would have expected additional pours or being asked if we wished to supplement the beverages. For pretty much every course, we had to ask to be served. Very disappointing considering we’ve dined here before and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Not sure if I can give it another chance.
I've been to this restaurant before several times, think there is a new owner. The service was outstanding, but the food was really awful....soup was watery, lettuce in salad had brown edges and the menu had no prices for the set dinner service. Dinner and dessert were good, but not outstanding. I could see others in the restaurant looking a little confused and unhappy. It's too bad, the service was amazing and the location is awesome!
Worst place to spend your time. This restaurant doesn't worth a penny. They ruin our valentine dinner. There was no host to take care of customers. After 10 minutes waiting restaurant owner came to us and said there is no empty table and we have to wait even he did not ask us what time was our reservation. We wait almost one hour for a table then we found out about a very limited menu that wasn't our favorite, we asked for a regular menu but they said this is Valentin's special only. They could have notified people about the menu during reservation. We end up to leave the restaurant and looking for somewhere else to have our Valentin's dinner.
Excellent Valentine’s Day experience
I fully enjoyed every minute of my experience with Vertical. What particularly made this night pop was not only the wonderful workers that made the experience but also the owner, whom made sure that everyone's needs are comfortably met. The team made this experience so absolutely enjoyable that it was hard to leave. The food was absolutely exquisite to the very last bite. The way the food was cooked and presented aligned with how perfect their service was. I would definitely be back. It was a marvelous experience.
Overall a very good experience. They had no challenge handling a party of 9 on relatively short notice. Food was good. Wine was good. The only thing was the service - nice, polite, but a bit slow.
Most importantly, would I go back? Would the whole group back? Absolutely, no hesitation at all.
We were headed to the theater after our meal, and requested that drinks, check be expedited, and servers did. Thank you!!
