Vertical Restaurant & Bar is an Italian eatery in downtown Toronto. Modern elegance and sophistication are shown in every detail of the dining room design. Gorgeous red sunburst patterns are displayed around the lights on the roof, while a uniquely rustic centerpiece adorns the separation wall between the dining room sections. Tables are well set and arranged so that guests can easily enjoy a private date night dinner, business meetings or a friendly get together. There is an outside patio lounge area for drinks and relaxation if guests prefer a more laid-back atmosphere.
Cuisine at Vertical Restaurant & Bar is fine Italian dining with fresh ingredients. Popular dishes include the house-made gnocchi, arctic char, ravioli with squash filling and shaved truffle, scallops and the parppadelle pasta. Guests at Vertical Restaurant & Bar can order à la carte or in courses. A full-service bar is available with wine pairings upon request.
Will miss it.
I'm crushed that this is the last day of Vertical's residency downtown at FCP. The influx if the big box, fast lunch business crowd has made it extremely challenging for the independent producer of fine food and great experiences. Another sacrifice to the world of SIRCorp-style restaurants. Wherever the folks from Vertical land, I'll consider myself lucky to dine with them again.
It was a great dinner but the start wasn't great. The hostess was obviously confused when we walked in and had to consult the Manager who had obviously given our window table away to another couple. Not impressed.
I had a business lunch and always a little awkward for cuisine for everyone to enjoy. The service was great and from the drinks to the desert and all in between the food was prepared perfectly and temperature was great! My group was more than pleased and impressed!
Ambience. Noise level was good
Been going for years. Food is always top notch but service was just totally messed up last week. My dining companion almost got decapitated by a plate of gnocchi. Yikes!!
Decent food and service but very expensive so I would only recommend for those on expense account. $40 for lunch before tip - entree, coffee, dessert. Handy to financial district.
The food is great, service is great and the environment is great. I would suggest to have a larger selection of food on the menu and larger portion of the dish.
I like vertical. I have often complained that servings at other restaurants are too large. At Vertical they might be 10% too small.
Service was slow
Our server was very attentive from beginning to end even when his section began to fill up. The food was also excellent however, the portions were quite small for the price we paid for them. My only complaint is that our server did not read us the specials which, when we heard him read them at another table after we had finished our meal, we realized we would have been interested in. Additionally, in the e-mail sent to me from opentable after booking the reservation, I was informed that there was free parking for Vertical guests however, I was not informed that I needed to ask my server for a special coupon in order to obtain this free parking; so we were unpleasantly surprised when we were informed by the parking attendant of this fact and charged for parking on our way out. Despite these two setbacks, the dining experience as a whole was pleasant and I would definitely go back.
Great for large group, however, the portion size of the food was small.
I had a meal with my son. The food was good, but not exceptional. My son enjoyed the sirloin burger, but I found my lamb was slightly overdone. Overall, a good restaurant, but the price was a little high for the quality, in my opinion.
When we visit Toronto this restaurant never disappoints us. The food is amazing!! This time starting with warm ciabatta buns and finishing with a spectacular dessert--lemon almond cookies, chocolate sauce and strawberry rhubarb gelato--the meal was especially memorable. The prix fixe was a great value and included a great take on the classic beet salad, a lighter than air gnocchi with a delicious tomato and basil sauce. The chicken came with the best Swiss chard I've ever tasted. We also had a ravioli that was almost as good as Le Quercia (our favourite Vancouver restaurant) which is high praise indeed. The whole branzino was perfectly cooked and was accompanied by roasted squash and brussel sprouts and the most delicious grape compote ever!! The service was professional and welcoming. We're looking forward to going back to Vertical on our next trip to Toronto.
The truffle ravioli is amazing. Very nice restaurant attached to the path and has a really nice patio. You won't be disappointed.
