We had a wonderful dining experience at Vero. Our server was fun, helpful and personable. The Italia wine she helped us select was excellent. Our mains were the Rock fish and Salmon, both exceptional.
Piping hot, authentic Italian dishes! Had a date night with my husband and selected this place in downtown Palo Alto. It is nice and quaint, however it can get a bit loud. They were understaffed but managed to handle our needs quite effectively. The food was excellent and came out timely and very hot! It is a simple menu, with great options at great prices! Definitely try it!
Wonderful restaurant. Wonderful food, good value, service with a personal touch
Vero is great Italian! Unique flavors and custom dishes!
Wine selection was Italian dominant!
Food is very good and flavorful! Enjoy!!
Amazingly delicious food! Attentive, friendly and personable staff who kept a close eye on us. Appreciate that the chef came out to the table to talk with us and offered a food recommendation when we asked - and it was incredible!!
Amazing 6 month dinner with my partner. Owner is very charismatic and helpful with the menu. Waitress and owner were very attentive and enjoyable. Food was amazing!
This was a birthday party for me thrown by a friend. The food was great (as usual) and the owners and staff were more than gracious. The 'Insalata de Mare' is superb. The 'Pesche del Giorno' is unique; very simply prepared - Chef Massimo knows how to let the ingredients shine through. Pasta and small plates very good. A thoughtful and accessible wine list. Try the Greco di Tufo.
The food was terrible. I had linguine with clams. The clams were overcooked and it was like chewing rubber. I would have said something to the waiter but I was with two ladies who had recommended this restaurant as being great and I did not feel comfortable saying what I really felt. The dessert that we had which was the vanilla gelato with espresso was good but the portion of the gelato was so small. When we walked into the place at 1 o'clock there was no one else there, that should have been my clue. The waiter was nice and the service was OK but I will never go back. There are too many other fabulous places in the bay area. Sorry about that Vero!
Best fresh well cooked food for dinner, definitely will be going back very soon I highly recommend this restaurant for any sort of special occasion anniversary birthday date night Etc
Busy night and wait staff seemed stretched. We always enjoy going to this restaurant and
Great food, great service, great atmosphere...what more could one want?
We had a fantastic lunch here of just appetizers. The calamari is the best I've ever had.
Excellent food. Great experience. Authentic dishes.
The food was great! The pastas were very delicious, my family eats very light so we felt it was a little on the heavy side in terms of saltiness. But the servers were super friendly, very attentive and we had a great time eating there!
Worst waiter service I have ever experienced. He made two very rude and condescending comments to me when I did not care for the wine I ordered, forgot my request for a straw, forgot my husband's request for more bread, failed to bus our table when we were done eating leaving us to sit with dirty plates in front of us, and brought us the wrong check. At least the food was good.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cool
It felt like a real Italian restuarant in Downdown Palo Alto
Vero is an excellent small restaurant. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The noise level can get pretty high as there area lot of hard surfaces, but the food is excellent. My wife had ravioli with an excellent sauce and I had linguine alle vongole. This is me favorite Italian restaurant test dish. Veros version was different, but it was excellent. They use the nice little clams that are used in Italy, but it was slightly spicier than I find in most places. Good job "Vero"
We hadn't been there in awhile (we forget about it because it's off the beaten path in downtown Palo Alto), and we were delighted to return.
I had the seafood risotto: not overly rich/creamy. It was "meaty" and flavorful.
I also had the polenta funghi appetizer -- yum! Tangy mushrooms and sweet polenta.
Two others in the party loved the ravioli: light creamy sauce.
Attentive and friendly service.
Owner and staff are attentive, serious about their passion for outstanding food, and easy to engage with. We will go again!!
Good spot that's easy to miss. Owner is friendly and the food is very good. Recommend lasagna and eggplant app.
We love Vero. Great food, welcoming staff and a warm environment.
Vero continues to be a favorite place to dine. Amazingly tasty food and wonderful wait staff. I can recommend Vero to anyone looking for delicious food, great atmosphere and great location.
We ate a Vero to celebrate a birthday. True to their word, the staff does not rush one, yet I noticed very prompt service for those who wished it. The pacing for us was just right. We had an early-ish reservation for 6:30, ordered our antipasti and then when we were ready ordered the mains. At that time the waiter suggested we order "now, as we are getting busy" and indeed they were nearly full.
The Burrata – cow’s milk mozzarella and cream served over arugola was a twist on traditional Burrata. Ususally made from sheeps' milk, this has a creamy cottage cheesy texture inside the thin mozzarella wrapper.
The salad for two was served family style and dressed perfectly! The lamb shank and polenta was quite good as was a fish (can't remember the type) in "light marinara" was delicious. The sauce was more of a broth (but served without a spoon) and there were no starches or veggies served with it. Some bread served on the side would have assisted in eating the broth. Portions are generous but not overwhelming.
We regrettably declined dessert as we were so full! We left about 9.
My favorite Italian restaurant in the Bay Area! Vero is the real deal. The staff allows you the time to enjoy each course and your company, as opposed to trying to turn over your table as quickly as possible. The food is authentically Italian; we've yet to have any dish we didn't adore. The lasagna is to die for, the salads are fresh and crisp, the wines are delicious, my fiancé is pretty taken with the linguine and clams, and the tiramisu is a must! Couldn't recommend this little gem more highly!
Love these guys. Great food, outstanding service and always pleasant experience.
Excellent as always! Brought new friends along and they loved it.
This was our first time here, and we sat outside (sidewalk seating), so cannot rate the experience of eating in the restaurant. That said, it was very pleasant eating on a lovely spring evening in downtown Palo Alto. The service was terrific, and our waiter was a gem. Food very good. Ran into neighbors who are discerning eaters, and they frequent the place because of quality and consistency. We will definitely return.
Friendly servers, very welcoming. Good wine list. Only drawback was watery sauce for linguine alle vingole.
Wonderful restaurant serving delicious food (try the gnocchis, they are the phenomenal). Wonderful service from Massimo.
Brian never lets us down on service and quality. His wine recommendations are always perfect for the meal, too
I met a university colleague for dinner to catch up and discuss potential collaboration. We both present as younger than we are and we're both people of color, which may or may not have an impact on how we are served. More often than not, it appears to factor in - particularly around Palo Alto and similar. Our server was... tired? overwhelmed? I don't know what he was going through but he seemed to be struggling to connect with us and disappeared for quite a while. The restaurant was, to be fair, bustling that night. Judging from what we saw of the folks around us, we were getting more attention than some, less than most. The food was decent. Portions were small. The wine was quite good (server recommendation, excellent). It was very difficult to get a water refill (this finally happened at the end of our meal when we were paying). I can't speak to whether this is typical at Vero, but for the price, I'll likely dine elsewhere before seeking to return.
Had a wonderful dinner at Vero. Food, service and ambiance all off the charts. Absolutely loved the gamberoni, could eat that every day. Gnocchi, spaghetti with clams, and taglietelle all spectacular. Will definitely be back!
Great service. Friendly. Good food. Small with wine bar and counter to open kitchen. Italian including Sicily
Really delicious gnocchi and the service was informal but professional. He "read the table" just right.
Expensive, small portions that weren't completely fulfilling. Did feel authentic though.
Fantastic authentic Italian food. Outstanding service. The Lamb was unbelievable! We can't wait to return.
Great pasta. Waiter was very good, made suggestions for food and wine, all great selections in a very engaging manner
Went for my birthday, was very disappointed. Won't go back. Food mediocre, not very hot, had to ask for bread. Said they couldn't seat us at 6:15, needed to be 7 and the restaurant was empty. Waitress seemed to be sick which wasn't appetizing.
This was a disappointing experience. The food was mediocre and the staff were nice but inattentive at best - maybe they were short-staffed.
Food was very good. Portions appropriate. Service was excellent.
